@@SP01Danny well, that gives a fair lead for the next event. If there’s 6 obstacles then have one lead 3 and the other lead the other 3. At the end of the day this is a great pov for Jeep/Toyota on how the everyday Joe interested in the sport would love to go through. 33”s challenge would be awesome since it seems to be the greatest chunk of people go for in the off road world that wheels his vehicle occasionally. It was a good videos and hoping for the next one. Cheers!

Definitely a good idea for the next head to head. As far as 33's we did take a rig with open diffs, 33's, metal bumpers & sliders through this trail. Didn't end well... Definitely 35's & up for this trail unless you're fully locked on 33's & willing to bang around quite a bit.

You can have all the flex in the world, all the smoothness in the world, but if you need to get pulled twice, all of that doesn't matter. Rubicon has straight axles and also a lower crawl ratio than the Tacoma. Also towards the end, the Rubicon had the benefit of being first in the wet spots, so the rocks were more dry than when the Tacoma went through. The Tacoma may not do it as smoothly as a straight axle rig, but it gets the job done. This Tacoma got pulled zero times. The Tacoma clearly took the win.

I knew that once the video came out the biggest deciding factor for most people would be seeing the Gladiator get pulled twice. Yes the Gladiator does have 10 more inches of wheelbase which definitely plays a role. However everyone must pay attention to detail and clearly take into account the facts of the run. Yes Taco was never pulled. Unfortunately though that came down to the gladiator leading & being the guinea pig to find the lines. Because of his extra 10 inches of wheelbase, once corrected & cleared we took the Taco through the proper line which allowed him not to get stuck. More than likely could have been the same outcome if we made the Taco lead so there's that. Also yes Gladiators crawl better with clearance of 37's which can be done after a simple 3inch lift & then it would be on a new level of crawling capability. This Taco build is dope & I actually like it, but truth is the Taco required a ton of work and money to properly clear front & rear body, 35's, cycle them properly & add a front locker & gears to be capable of completing this trail the way it did. Now to go 37's on a Taco is a whole other level of fabrication for the taco, not to mention that as tire size goes up for IFS vehicles, so does the chances of breaking CV's & tie rods with out seriously upgrading them wich again comes back to more money & still higher chance of breaking doing what a stock D44 axle on a rubicon with 37's can do. So for crawling aspect a Rubicon can always be built stronger then any IFS platform & be more stable & capable. This video was about crawling performance only. Nothing comparing high speed handling capability which is where the IFS would shine. Crawling comes down to (stability & articulation) for ease & safety while crawling. IFS is more unstable & doesn't articulate as well. That causes a lot of unstable tipping & wheel lift which can lead to slipping, panic & driver error resulting in vehicle damage & bodily injury. So for those reasons (disregarding the required pulls because of taking lead & finding the lines) Gladiator takes the advantage & the win on the crawling course.
@ImSick0
@ImSick0 11 месяцев назад
Getting stuck is the huge deciding factor. At the end of the day the Gladi would still be at the trail stuck, whereas the Tacoma would have made it home drinking a Pacifico. We all understand and we all know that straight axle is the best for rock crawling, but this isn't an IFS vs Straight Axle video, this is a "run what you brung" video. There's a lot of excuses going to the Gladi side. The way I understood this series, is it's a battle between rigs and drivers, not what the rig "could be" capable of with the "right driver". They both run what they brung and the Tacoma came out on top on this video. If the roles were reversed and the Tacoma got stuck twice, you guys would have definitely chosen the Gladi as the winner. I'm seeing some crazy bias here.
@SP01Danny
@SP01Danny 11 месяцев назад
@@ImSick0I understand your way of seeing how this is going, however I can tell you by being there that no, the Taco would not have made it without getting stuck if we hadn't corrected his lines to avoid what the gladiator got stuck on. Now reflecting on the run we should have had them take turns leading after each obstacle to give better perspective. Also must pay attention to the difference in finesse that the vehicles platforms provide. That is the major deciding factor.
@ImSick0

@@lit_taco4x4 You are correct, it is not at its full potential. Definitely can have much more capability.
