Nice to see a midsize American truck up to par with my bad ass Tacoma .. almost, time will tell if ranger is as durable! But I have to say , very impressed!99.5% of us working folks won’t get this rough . Mostly muddy roads on public managed hunting land .hey I’m starting to wary up to guys. I like the way you talk you russian. O teal Toyota’s run in Iraq . The sand don’t seem bother them ( Hilux) tough , also in Africa, Australia, God bless um, but these Toyota’s are tough, and the very very best mid heavy duty trucks build. I wonder why they not sold in North America? Damn rusty go get us one!!!!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🍀

Note i can’t type , sorry. But on the tough as hell hilux, no match for our gun trucks . Put 2-3 24mm slugs Thur one and it’s dead. A .338 will go Thur one from stem to sturn . These are called machine killers I say too much sorrey🤣

I've never gone offroading and just got my first truck, and even I know you shouldn't rely and all these fancy electronic traction systems. Just don't be a shitty driver. Lol..the way I look at it, if people were doing this kind of stuff back in the day without all that fancy shit, there's no reason we can't do it now.

@@Miller_Lite Honestly I don't know. We're not sticking with this Ranger much longer because by the end of next year, we're due for a new gen Ford Ranger. This is only new to us and they made these Rangers since 2012 outside the US. There's a 3.0L V6 diesel they are testing for the 2022 model and as well as a 2.7L V6.

Patrick W - In a hundred thousand miles the Ford will have cost you so much more in maintenance than the Toyota, the downtime will be more in the Ford, and the Ford will be at the end of its lifespan near 100k, while the Toyota is going to be just getting its second wind. One of my neighbors owns Fords and LOVES them, my other neighbor likes his old Toyota Taco. They are both friends, and the number of times we have had to help him, tow him and his Ford to the shop is comical. My Ford loving neighbor "has" to get a new Ford every 3-4 years as it gets close to 100k miles. We playfully keep track of the Fords parts replacements, the new alternators, starters, water pumps, etc., that it needs. And the 2000 Toyota Tacoma? Nearing 500k miles and while it had a water pump replaced, it has original everything else except it’s clutch, a wear and tear item which has been replaced twice and he expects it will need another next year. And no, I’m not including brakes, tires, oil changes, bulb failures or any of that, just mechanical components. I used to love my Ford, Chevy or Dodge cars and trucks, but then I got a Japanese vehicle and hit 140k miles when I realized nothing, absolutely NOTHING had failed. Fords are cheaper, true. But NOT more reliable. And trust me, if you actually go off-road where no tow truck is going to help you out... reliability matters!

I have an old Mitsubishi Montero, and I have gone for parts, tools, food, etc., over the same trails that broke their Jeeps, Chevy's and Fords sometimes six to eight times in one day, over the same trail that broke their vehicle. And yes, I know, Mitsubishi’s are not even in the same league as Toyota’s. Humorous too is they KNOW it. @@Erin-Thor sir I'm offroading now. I'm in reddington pass outside of Tucson. Everyone seems to be here this weekend because we got rain during the week and the trails are muddy which is a treat in the desert. I'm in my wife Trd pro with her stock setup. I could have taken my heavily modified 3rd gen 4 runner but her suv was clean and very pretty so I decided to get the mall dust off it. I wheel with some great guys and my boy who is in his heavily modified FJ cruiser is picking the trails...lol the 4 runner with stock tires is doing just fine. It struggles on the more advanced trails due to clearance but my spotter has not let me down and zero damage so far. Erin I don't offroad every weekend but I'm out alot in my truck, can am (which I wish i took today) , or the 3rd 4 runner. I agree with the jeep comment. We spent 4 hrs yesterday helping get a broken axle jeep back to camp. 2 hrs this morning getting another jeep shock tower fixed. I only used Toyotas not because they don't break but because they r solidly built and they always get me back home under their own power no matter how far I go wheeling or which 1 of them I take.

@Erin-Thor 4 года назад
michaeltom402 - Cool! Toyota’s do break, they aren’t perfect... close though! My Monte is a 2002 full size Monte which I bought in 2001. It currently has 247k miles, and while no longer my daily driver, I still drive it regularly. I’ve almost bought an FJ cruiser several times, but the side visibility scares me. The Hummer-esk small windows freak me out. I was hoping that Toyota would give it a redesign, but they killed it instead. In 2020 they have multiple lines w TRD Pro models, and I am interested! I’ve owned few others; a Range Rover which was a maintenance nightmare, a Jeep which drove sweet off-road but like the RR several maintenance issues. It was just a Wrangler that I thought I could upgrade, but the many maintenance issues made me go back to my then 12 year old Mitsubishi for reliability reasons. And to be truthful, I don’t always take the same extreme line as my Jeep friends as mine wasn’t trailered there and has to get me home. If Mitsubishi still sold the Montero in the states I’d have bought several by now. Mine at 247k and 18 years old is showing it’s age. It’s been in the shop a few times, the first non-maintenance issue was in 2017 when the sunroof got stuck open, 2018 it had an engine manifold gasket leak, and a month ago the heater hose ruptured, that was it’s very first tow. But considering it’s age and mileage, and that everything is original save the ARB bumper, it’s been good to me. Especially considering the number of times it’s been airborn, LOL!

@@Erin-Thor I'm glad your vehicle has held up so many years and miles. My 3rd gen has 314,000 miles and still runs strong. I take it often on 2k mile wheeling trips and it always has made it back on it's on tires. The FJ would definitely be my upgrade vehicle if I get tired of the 4 runner. The blind spot is a very simple fix especially given what you get in a stock vehicle. Add some armor, winch, lift and offroad shocks with 35 tires and you can crawl will all the jeeps and heavily modded 3rd gen 4 runners. The standard rear locker and atrac works very well especially when you do maintenance on the transfer case. The FJ has plenty of on the road power which both your vehicle and mine lack.

I looked at both of these vehicles last month. I ended up pulling the trigger on a Tacoma TRD Off-Road instead of the Pro. The Ranger certainly is a nice driving vehicle, has plenty of power, and a lot more electronic niceties. There are a few things the Ranger is lacking though. The rear seat doesn't fold flat, it also isn't a split seat. You're missing a good amount of storage in the Ranger that you have in the Tacoma. The thing that really sold me on the Tacoma was parking it next to the Ranger. From the front the Ranger looked like a sedan. I just didn't think it looked all that sexy in person. For me, the Tacoma looks a lot more "trucky". At the end of the day they're both fine trucks and will do what you need them to. The Tacoma will be worth more when you get rid of it, and will likely need less time at the dealership too.

I've got almost 9,000 miles on it now and I love it. Originally, I was looking for a Tacoma, but thank you Ford for letting North America finally get this. The trail pimp does really get on the throttle to get you over obstacles, but obviously can't predict when you're going to hop over and it needs to lay off. For rock gardens, your better off actually driving. To me, it's useful when on less-maintained fire roads with bikes and gear in the bed and I want to go slower than normal.

The Rangers really are decent trucks. There are 1993-2011 Rangers all over in my area running just fine with well over 300,000 km or about 200,000 miles. They also have solid frames underneath them. No where near as many Tacoma’s in the area and when I look underneath the Toyota’s, there is major rust in the frame even. Don’t have to look under them to see all the rust in the body panels, especially the older they get. Look at things with open objective eyes and you will realize the only thing the Tacoma has going for it is resale value. Since the basic FX4 can outperform the TRD Pro for over $9,000 less, the resale is not an issue either because I there will a lot less than $9,000 difference between the two 4 years from now so the Ranger will depreciate mor in %, but the Tacoma will depreciate more in the $$s because of the higher initial cost. The new Ranger will hold its value better than the old Ranger because it is a better and more competitive truck. Even the GM twins have decent resale, getting to be an old story if Toyota keep gouging their clientele. You can barely negotiate when you buy them so the true price difference after a real purchase will be closer to $11,000. Ford Ranger wins on the road, trail, AND the pocketbook! Even 4 years later! Look at the real world numbers, not all the hype and catch phrases.
@JAMESWUERTELE

@shitloveaduck
@shitloveaduck 4 года назад
James Wuertele - do you drink a lot? In southern Alberta Canada, the used Tacomas, specifically the 2016 - 2017 do not have the resale the 2015 and older models do. Things change and Toyota’s resale values are falling, especially with the recent release of the Tacoma. 2017 models in this are have depreciated $11,000.00, in 2 years. Real numbers, things change and Toyota has to produce better ergonomics, better motor or power characteristics for the 3.5. There are better options available on the other trucks and more flexibility in those options. There is a reason Toyota has lost so much market share and after the first half of record sales, sales have dropped of enough in the second half that Toyota won’t sell as many trucks as last year. Gotta look at the greater picture and current trends instead of the distant past. Sorry dude!
