I was 15 when the 2nd gen X-Runner came out and I’ve always wanted one since then. Now at 34 I will totally buy this if it came to market.

Theres a retired Martin Lockheed engineer who attends scottsdale cars and coffee, has a newer tacoma, with a 5.0L v8 from the GSF swapped in, custom made his own carbon fiber fenders, bumper, hood, etc. This reminded me of that! Very cool guys! Ill swing by in a little and check you guys out here at SEMA in a bit!

I had a speedway blue 2005 xrunner. Loved that truck and had it for 5 years before trading it in. Can’t believe how long ago that was already.

Make a 6 speed manual version of this! It would be more fun to drive than a rally car.

As an owner of a 08 supercharged X-Runner, I am happy to see this concept come into reality. The Facebook X-Runner group is going nuts over this and would love to see a full production model. Toyota, please make this happen and I will buy one and have an option as a 6 speed manual like the original.

I’m impressed that you have thought ahead with the Tnga-f platform for interchangeability in the lineup. We can modify our vehicles with Toyota parts from other trucks. Excellent work Toyota!

My Uncle was an immigrant from S. Korea and didn’t have much to his name. Around 1979 or 1980, Toyota gave him a chance. He was able to get a job working for Toyota spraying undercoatings and later worked as a stevedore. He was able to provide for his family, put his kids through college, working for around 40 years with Toyota and of course, converting all of his relatives to loyal Toyota customers over the decades. My Tacoma was smashed by a careless driver a few months ago. My Tacoma was supercharged and essentially my 4wd version of the X-Runner (actually S-Runner) with many good memories. If this truck comes to market, I plan on buying it. My Uncle passed away a few years ago, but I still remember talking to him about various Toyota vehicles over the years. But one of my first questions to him I will always remember him answering (English wasn’t his strong point) since we had been domestic car buyers before. Q.Why Toyota? R.“Toyota, good” .

I have had my 2006 Blue X-Runner for 3 years. About to hit 200,000 miles. The compliments I've received over the years is crazy. People love these! Toyota, please make these a reality! I'm tired of seeing Chevy and Ford copying the Tacoma style! If you want to make them scared.... just make these bad boys!

Build it. 400-425hp, auto w/ manual 6sp option. Street performance truce market has been neglected too long. If you can offer it at a reasonable price, or maybe varying trim levels, it should sell wildly.

Hope something close to this makes it to production. A manual transmission would sweeten the deal. My current X-Runner needs to be replaced and I've held off ordering a new Tacoma the past couple of years because I'd have to get 4WD, which I have zero use for, and a short bed -- boo! -- all because I wanted a V6 and manual transmission.

I think somebody at toyota finally snapped there crayons and realized they have a following unmatched by any other car manufacturer. Went back to the basics, drank some beer cooked some BBQ and let the tradesman get busy. Great looking truck, cant wait to see whats next.

Toyota you have created a insane X Runner and I salute you for creating such a insane sick ride. I know that Toyota is trying to go forward with hybridization i respect that from Toyota but putting in the Twin Turbo V6 Tundra engine with a tune is the best thing in a long time that I've seen. One thing just to say is that please Toyota could you please offer the TTV6 as a option to the whole Tacoma line and just watch the sales skyrocket through the roof. Trust me the Tacoma lovers would love it. ❤️
