The dragging your butt test made the entire video worth it lol. Great video and very informative! I have these pants for EMS and love them. I became a fan of these the first time I saw them in person.
Thanks! To be clear, I have no association with 5.11. I bought several pair of these locally for retail price and really liked them. That's not to say I would turn down a lifetime's supply of 5.11 gear for making this awesome video on their pants...
Fantastic. I had to hold in my laughter during the high speed "worms" demo waiting in line at the bank. you should definitely do more videos with this formula
Thanks, heavy! I have high hopes, but I also feel lucky to have the subscribers I've already gotten only a few months into producing new videos. "Shares" and forum posts are what really get the word out, and I can always use help with that! :)
Informative, honest, creative and entertaining. Tried to keep a straight face while watching the belt loop test, but couldnt keep my first smile and then laughter today from watching the butt drag test. Darn, you really went the whole way down.
I don't recall watching 13:00 of anything since youtube's inception. This however had me replaying it for my wife. Hilarious, educational, and now I'm sold on these pants. Thanks man!
If I could give 3 thumbs up, I would! Apart from the sheer entertainment value of the vid as well as the hilarious tests ( butt sliding on your driveway is priceless btw lol), it gives me confidence knowing that the pants I'll be getting in the mail soon will be far more than I hoped for :) thank you sir for an excellent video
You had me laughing so hard it hurt. Really, kidney stone and kidney infection and I was almost crying from laughing at the video. Great video, keep it up. You're putting out some great videos, good info and great humor! Look forward to more
Great video!!!! Thank you!!! I work in Germany as a firefighter volunteer and I use for my office duties this 5.11 Pants! They are awesome! !!! God bless you! Greetings from Mannheim Germany
TWANGnBANG thank you so much for doing this, im getting a motorcycle soon and i dont want to wear motorcycle pants because i get hot really easy, but the butt scootch down the driveway just sold it, i just bought 2 pairs of the taclites, seems like a lot better than just blue jeans in the heat of the blazzing sun in New Hampshire! thanks again man, helped a lot.
Thanks! Though intentionally humorous, the tests were all real and I am truly impressed. You can see that since this video, I'm wearing a pair in all of the subsequent videos. I bought all the pairs I own at retail price- they were not given to me for review. They are really good pants for the money. Oh, and I also wondered what the neighbors were thinking, but no "paddy wagon" was called.
awesome video! I love my 5.11 pants (have 3 pair). I am glad to see you did the abrasion test. I found your video while doing research about possibly using these on the bike.
That's great! Just know that officially, that strap is there for clipping stuff onto or stabilizing long items that stick out of the back slash pocket (like that tomahawk). 5.11 is originally a rock climbing company- "5.11" is the rating of what was the toughest rock climb when they started the company. So, you can imagine the uses they think about when designing pants. That said, it is clear that the strap can be used as a drag handle if the unfortunate need arose.
Thanks, curly! What I REALLY carry daily ends with the knife, but seriously, I was amazed at how well the pants truly held all that crap. I could still squat down with all those mags (and tomahawk) in my back pockets, which would be useful on the range at times when I do indeed stuff extra mags in my back pockets. Our driveway is what gets us back into the woods. It's tricky when we have ice, but we feel very lucky to live where we do. :)
I gave u a like just cause you scooted down that whole driveway. 🤣 Good video, I was thinking on getting these pants and it helped with my decision. It's a go!
The funny stuff is much harder to pull off, but I have a few in the works. The one I'm working on this weekend won't be quite as outrageous, but it is a real review of a multi-tool with humor included.
Thanks TnB, for the thorough review! I bought 3 pair and just received them in the mail today. They are definitely well built pants! I can't wait to wear them for a while and see how the perform for me. I will post again when I have something meaningful to report!
Absolutely hilarious, great job Mr. TWANGnBANG! I had already owned one pair of the Taclite's, but loved your video so much I went out and bought another half dozen pairs of them. Great pants, I'll be wearing them on my travels (hiking tours) of Scotland, Wale sand Ireland. I haven't tried walking in them during a heavy rain, so not sure how they'll hold up. But.....they dry fast in the dryer, so I assume they'll be decent in foul weather --
Thanks! You'll probably like my Temporary Tactical Beard video I uploaded last night, too. Facebook and forum shares help get the word out. I appreciate the comment!
Great video, I have used 5.11 products for years and have nothing but good things to say about their quality. Living in Alaska, I like their cold weather coats and jackets, great for concealed carry in the Last Frontier.
Thanks! I'm nowhere near making enough money to pay for what I spend in ammo and gear for each video, but with the support that I've been getting from subscribers and viewers, I hope that isn't that far off. I already own a lot of cool stuff that hasn't been featured in a video yet, so stick around!
this vid was seriously funny. i honestly didnt think those pants would be that rugged. i was asking myself if your testing was real or fake, either way that was a long crackmile, i can only imagine if passerby's or neighbors saw you. hope to see more tacticool item vids in the future.
I'm guessing the vast majority of people who will watch this video will have no idea what the heck I'm doing. I must say that I do a pretty good "arrow in the knee" impression, though. :)
Thanks! 5.11 makes good stuff, including some pants that cost a lot more than the Taclite pants in this video. I hope you can find some at a good price.
Had just seen these 5.11 trousers (pants) on sale over here in the UK, but knew nothing about them. Searched on RU-vid for a review video, and fortunately came across yours. Hilarious ! Wackiest video review I have ever seen? Thanks for putting yourself through all that for us ! So will definitely be buying a pair. Also subscribing in the hope you do more such reviews...
Unfortunately, that was a neighbor's dog. Mine is an 11yo Malinois who listens like you wouldn't believe. I couldn't cut a break that day, between leaf blowers, chainsaws, and that darn dog that wouldn't stop barking. I think most dogs are awesome, though, so I just deal with it. :)
the "pull handle" was designed to hold carabiners while climbing /repeling, etc. for quick easy access... the angel pockets also allow easier access when in the air. great review btw, lol! wow
Please tell me that you also wear zip-up coyote tan combat boots, too. It will help me with my image of what's going on there. :) The Stryke Pant looks really sweet, too. I'll get me a pair before long, especially now that things are starting to cool off (finally).
ok.. wait wait... so u have a toothbrush and toothpaste in ur pocket wherever u go?... and the tomahawk when that "someone special" says "no" right? i can just imagine security at a building asking "sir, were gonna need you to empty your pockets".
My fire dept. started issuing us these a few months back. All I wear when chasing hogs w/ my 300 BLK. Always wondered what the drag strap was for. Keep the videos coming.
I went to savers to find some pants I can tear up n I was astonished when I went to the uniform section and I found these pants I have worn them everyday since n I can't fathom why someone would get rid of such nice pant I use them for mechanics crawling under my truck got oil n GREASE OF ALL THINGS ON THEM took a few washes but they r good as new I fell I can do anything to these pants and they'll go through hell in high water I'm so confident in these pants and I only paid 10$ for them I was so blessed to find these Pants that I went to a military surplus n paid 50$ to get a black pair for work n I loooove them n I gotta say this guys awesome
I know the brand 5.11 and know that they make good quality stuff, so thank you for this test. A couple days ago I saw an ad for tactical pants on instagram and they seemed very nice, but the brand name was shady. Now I noticed, in their ad, they used your footage! That's why they seemed so good... The no name ad is a knockoff and scam
You got it! I am still very interested in a more direct comparison on db levels from a Skorpyd vs. regular bow, I hope you can do something along that line, I have been dying to know for years. GREAT WORK sir and you have a sub for life! (If I ever get some free time I'm going to make some videos of my own!)
"Shoot-Me-First-Pants". So true. I make it worse by wearing a multicam backpack :p Love my 5.11 pants. I've tried them all on. My fav by far is the Stryke Pant w/ Flex-Tac. Most comfortable cargo style pants I have ever wore since they actually do flex. Great review!
5.11 is here in Indonesia, unfortunately it comes with a VERY premium price, so lessee if I can buy it in the next few months :)) Thanks for the review, Sir, that's one hella funny tear and wear test!
I'm in line to get a Ventilator for review. I'll see if I can work that in when that happens. As I implied in my Silencer Addiction video, the sound of the arrow hitting the target is louder than the sound of the RDT/SLP165 being fired. It is only slightly louder than my Mathews Monster XLR8, but it is much, much quieter than most other crossbows out there.
