Nice review Rob. The bastard strap, size is a deal killer for me. My wife used one of the earlier models as a dive watch from the late 80’s until we started diving with computers around fifteen years later. The lume on hers degraded to lasting about two minutes after ten years of use. Battery changes on dive watches are expensive, p, due to the pressure testing and seal, changes needed. Other than that, she lover hers for many years.
A $1000 Tag with 21.5 lugs and a $30 quartz movement? Forget it. Buy a Citizen Pro-master. You can choose between a quartz or an automatic and get a better watch for a better price.
Love the Formula 1 design, same size wrist as you, the 43mm looks like a great fit. I'm not a swapper either. I lean towards the black face with stainless steel band but this one really pops.
i bought a CAZ101AC.BA0842 quartz chronograph model last month and you were right, despite 43mm case but the lug2lug is still acceptable, the price is quite overprice (comparing to the movement) but it was love at first sight and my passion for formula 1 racing so i pulled the trigger. of course i'd heard negative comment about Tag Heuer but who cares, i wear what i like and enjoy. still bring smile whenever i wear it (it was my first big purchase afterall). the only problem is the lug size, 21.5mm is just so weird. i put on 21mm barton yellow black rubber strap from barton and it did make the yellow colour on the dial pops up more. what annoys me is the lug had a little tiny gap where you can see the springbar.
Lovely watch, the orange dial really pops. They have an Asphalt style texture on the dial of their 44mm Carrera Porsche edition, looks like they have done the same here. I've heard the strap can be quite uncomfortable as it has no flexibility like a rubber strap, i.e. if it wears too loose because your wrist is not the right size for the existing holes, the nylon has a scratchy feel as the watch moves around. Not sure how true this...
My boss got me the chrono, grey dial version of this watch (ref.CAZ1011.BA0842) for working under him for 10 years. It looks great but when I got a leather strap for it, I didn't actually bother measuring it myself and looked up online what the lug width was (while at work). Ended seeing "20mm" on a couple of sites so got a 20 mm rally strap. Needless to say it has a huge gap. Wondered why it was so large. I thought it looked too small to be 22 but too big to be 21. This vid explains everything 🤣Also the original bracelet is great but surprisingly has a stamped clasp. Not sure why they cheaped out on the clasp but the rest of it is pretty good quality. Also, thanks for showing the movement. I've been really curious what the quartz movement looked like in this watch!
I completely agree with you pal! So much so I bought one for just £750.00 brand new! The watch is amazing very legible, accurate and robust. I had an early F1 back in the early 90s in blue. And this to me is defo the next next gen. My only fault maybe is the 43 mm case size? And the strap is just the icing on the cake! It's Absolutley rock solid no itching when dry or wet. It's probably stronger than a metal bracelet? Haha. Tag didn't give this watch strap a quick after thought on a Friday afternoon. Theyve designed a brand new watch strap from the ground up that looks better than the metal bracelets due to all of its attention to detail. And it will last hell of a lot longer than a leather one probably last longer than me?!
Hi yeah from eBay pal. I couldn't believe it even had the warranty card officially stamped from Ernest Jones on 18/09/2021. Anyway I only just flipped it 2 weeks ago no On eBay I got £680.00 for it!
How well do you think the nylon strap will hold up to everyday use. It may have to be replaced regularly rather than having a stainless steel band. If you could speak to the nylon strap hat would be greatly appreciated
Looks nice but after having a look 1 min ago, I really like/prefer the New Lime green chrono variant of the watch. Any chance you could review that one Rob? Thank you
@@RandomRobReviews Yes it is from same New formula 1 collection. But this one is lime green chrono. Little bit more expensive and comes option for same strap as the orange one or bracelet. Thank you Rob
The 43mm Aquaracer I have also has a 21.5mm lug width also - hopefully I like the strap on this one as much. The Seiko Marinemaster Tuna also has a 21.5mm lug width size. Strange…
I have no problem with quartz technology, the watch is somewhat good looking if you like that sort of thing and Heuer is an iconic name but this is ridiculous. Nothing about that watch warrants the price tag or the... Tag on the dial.
This does not attract me at all. Uninspired case shape, ugly dial, cheap Quartz movement, odd lug width. I’ll take a Japanese watch over this any day of the week.
