I do remember those videos of your Favorite Tahitian Dream Beach House on Bantayan Island, Cebu. Philippines! You thought before that it was made out of bamboo... Thank you so much Rodger for another great sharing. Good luck on fulfilling your dreams. Wish you all the best. Be safe, stay safe, stay home! Best regards/Ned👍👍
This reminds me of my childhood stilt house in Leyte, it was made of bamboo, wood and nipa for roof. It was simple made by material available in nature not as expensive like this one but it was very comfortable; you don't need air conditioning or heater no electricity needed. It withstood the 25 ft. Tidal wave and all the typhoons during my childhood. Oh BTW, if you worried about soil erosion generally the whole village will move the stilt house to higher ground for free then, I don't know now if the villagers there are closed knit.
@ V Bello Bayanihan; part of many Pilipino’s childhood memories if one grew up in the province. I remember their shout as they simultaneously would lift the house - “uno, dos, monggos.” cuz fried fish and monggo soup was what they were fed at their destination, hehe. No payment. Just plain camaraderie, neighborliness and love. Miss those days of innocense.
What a gorgeous house . The tiles are really nice and those doors are exactly what I want . They call them bi-folding . I wonder if he had to import them . Did he say how many sq meters ?
@@myparadiseonbantayanisland9030 It's indeed a beautiful and peaceful place to live in. :) We are in Santa Fe too. I like your content. Very informative
Beautiful thanks for your coverage, when i see these videos i wonder how much?i have no idea od cost of land or construction costs it would to get a ball park figure Oh by they way whats the fishing like Cheers
Land in the province ranges from 85 pesos to 5000 per sq meter depending on rural or tourist area and how much land you buy. Concrete house building in the province is about 20,000 pesos per sq meter (10 sq feet)
Fishing is like everywhere you have good days anf bad days😀. The locals use fish traps for.small fish and long line for larger fish. Rod and reel fishing is just now becoming popular for individuals who are fishing for fun.
Great video sir. Enjoyed it very much and actually have questions. Who built it? I have my own builder but this structure seems to have a learning curve and would like to communicate with someone who has experience.
A Swedish man built the house. I don't have any contact info for him. I just go there and talk with him if he is home. It is definatly a unique build, if you showed an architect the video he should be able to design a similar home😊
@@myparadiseonbantayanisland9030 Interesting... Is the guy still around? A video of him doing one would be an amazing video for your channel! Plus you'll know how to do it for your place. Or, is that already in your plans for future vids?
Yes I will, Bantayan Island just re-opened for tourist about 2 weeks ago and we also rebuilt our airport and hoping to get scheduled flights soon, so hopefully we will get the tourism going again and get Bantayan Islands economy back on track😊
I'm from Bantayan island too,I'm wondering if did you try to put this on couch surfing.com or Airbnb for extra income and more friendship? This is a very beautiful place to stay ,I believe you will attract many tourists after this pandemic. Be safe 😊
Yah you're right it's a very good paradise if i have one or two bamboo houses like that I am the luckiest woman in the world it's my dreams too.!!!thanks for the info my small brother living in Cebu City but for me I prepare to live near in the beaches which and where? But this one why not the prices ?????
I wonder how you buy food on this island though. I mean.. I'm sure you can get some of the local items. But how do you get the high quality salmon steaks, beef, etc that you can buy from a place like S&R or maybe an SM Hypermarket. These remote islands do seem really nice, but seems like you'd have to do regular ferry runs to get hard to find or really high quality food stocks. Checked a map... Looks like you can take a ferry ride to Cadiz City. I see there's an actual grocery store there. Hopefully.. one could get a month of supplies though at a time.
B.S...there's everything you need in Bantayan , great markets with fresh vegetables , fruit , fish and meat . Who wants quality salmon steaks in such a place ? Sick ..
@@builtnotboughtmadeinphilip3955 yeah..You're right. No need to eat Salmon steaks.. I don't know the 5 species, so there's no need to be eating salmon. ...smh

They are just 3 big concrete tanks maybe 4 feet deep and 6 to 8 feet wide and 10 to 12 feet long. He has filter pumps too. I have no idea where get got the crawfish to start his tanks. I don't know if crawfish are native to the Philippines.
@@myparadiseonbantayanisland9030that was going to be my next question! LOL. where did he find them? i love crawdads. I know they sell them at petshops under the name fortune lobsters though.
gcoheso so Crawfish is indeed native to the Philippines and there are lots of them in Cebu. Crawfish is everywhere in low tidal flats and among mangrove forests in both Alcoy and Dalaguete towns, south of Cebu. We used the baby crawfish for baits in line fishing. These tiny crawfish are found under rocks, or burrows in the muds, among mangrove roots, etc.
Not sure of the cost as it was built 20 years ago. He leases the land. Building a house here takes about 1 year if it is this size and style, basic houses can by built in 6 months. Typical concrete house building cost in the province is about 20,000 pesos per sq meter (10 sq feet)
That would have been my question. How could he build a house being single foreigner and not allowed to buy Land. But since he is leasing it there is no problem.

@@myparadiseonbantayanisland9030 will he be compensated for the house when the lease is up ? I imagine he will be passed on by then .but inheritance wise . I was told it depends on the lease agreement .
@@lionhearted1969 the lease will last longer than him . I'm.wondering about surviving family members being able to recoup the value of the house . I was told it depends on the lease agreement. But thats one person's input .
@@boracay12 Actually, if the lot that was leased was free from any man-made structures, I think your (the lessee) obligation is to return the same lot without encumbering the lessor for any taxable structures. Or demolish all the structures you built if the lessor doesn't want any structures built on his lot after your lease expires. However, if the property is a good investment opportunity, I think the lessor might interest to buy it and resell it as well.
The owner is in Sweden now. Typican building cost in the province for a concrete house is 20,000 pesos per sq meter (10 sq feet) beach land cost are from 1000 to 5000 pesos per sq meter depending if in rural area or tourist area.
@@myparadiseonbantayanisland9030 Is 1000 php per sqm common for beachfront if away from tourists? I've spent hours today looking all over Facebook and not many under 3000 per sqm.. but I'm guessing if you really want a good deal you need to find a beach you like and go walk around and talk to people?
It is best to come here to look for land (I assume you're Filipino). You have to check many things to be sure everything is legitimate or you could have a lot of issues. Do you live in the Philippines now?
My Paradise on Bantayan Island, Cebu, Philippines Good to know! Yes, I am Filipino born in PI but grew up in the US. It’s been two decades since I’ve been in PI
@@jlynn4837 If you decide to come and want to look at land let me know and I will show you what to beware of when buying land here. I know of a few lots available here but it is always best to see for yourself before buying.
My Paradise on Bantayan Island, Cebu, Philippines - that would be great. My husband and I was planning to head out there sometime next year but change of plans now since with this covid. We should definitely connect once it’s clear for us to head out there.
@@myparadiseonbantayanisland9030 That's interesting... I learned something new (in addition to learning how to clean squid)... I've only been to Cebu once, but thought it would be the same since Filipino and Cebuano both have the same word for person/human. In Luzon it's normal to yell out "Tao Po?" right before knocking on the gate :) Funny thing... I just asked Google Translate what "Tao Po" means in English, and the translation is "knock knock".
I guess the landlord is very happy to get such a nice house for free, or in fact he got paid to get it. But yeah a really nice house with a great view. Could absoluty think of worse places to spend my time in.
Actually the owner has 30 more years on the lease and can renew for 25 more so they will all be dead before the lease is up. It's inheritance to their kids. 😀
@@MyPilipinasTravels looks like he took a 25 year lease unlikely to live another 25 years so I suppose it doesn't really matter .The house will eventually go to the landowner unless he knocks it down which is highly unlikely
@@myparadiseonbantayanisland9030 Not true. It's 25 year lease and the other 25 years is not guaranteed. 50 years is for specific foreign owned businesses
Hi. I own 847sq. Land in Barangay Maricaban Sta Fe Bantayan Island. I would like to sell it. Would anyone be interested interested? I live in the UK, or can anyone recommend a realtor to find a buyer for a commission? Thank you.
What price per sq are you looking for ? " Realtors" here is just a phrase , none of the people selling property are licensed . They have as much credentials as a person selling goods online . Its basically any person who knows of property for sale and will promote it . I know the area . Its about 2 miles west of santa fe . I actually was going to look at property there . We waited for the "realtor" for 30 minutes after the appointment , which i let her pick for her convenience. After we left and went home to eat , she called and asked if we where ready .. lol . Thats how most of them are . We never did see the lot .
Thanks to anyone interested. Please email me jonanddaisyhk @gmail.com. I really want to sell it. We have no plans of living in the Philippines anymore.
@@boracay12 I don't exactly know, how much to sell it for. It should be whatever is the present selling price around that area. Do you have any any idea? My English husband and I, only been in Bantayan once for just two nights. We fell in love with the place, hence we bought a land out of impulse. We now realised, Philippines is not for us, that's why we want to sell it.
