The story mode does support the drums you have to connect the joycons/pro controller as 1st player and then the drum on 2nd player.

Nice! Rhythm games are the best on the Switch because it has a handheld mode with the lowest latency compared to any other consoles.

I haven't seen anyone mention this but it seems the game was updated in March to support the controller in story mode "during performance only, must be connected as 2P, joycon as 1P". It's on sale now so I'm finally gonna cop!

@@statesminds I got the game and I really like the RPG mode. I feel like if I wasn’t interested in the RPG mode I’d just buy another game with more tracks and such. So I do wish the RPG mode allowed more than button controls

I'm not finding a way to use the drum accessory on the story mode...it lets me hit dons but not kas, any ideas? Update: Someone on Reddit found a solution to this...if you use a Mayflash Magic NS adapter, you can hook up your drum into the USB slot in the adapter and connect your controller wirelessly and the console will recognise the two as one controller, allowing you to change the bindings to have the drum work

Came here after having the issue of not being able to hit the kas with the drums in story mode only to find out it's something they couldn't figure out how to do. Really a bummer and I'm happy we can still use drums in taiko mode but I was really looking forward to using the drums in the story mode. Maybe they can update?

I play drums, so people assume I would be great at rhythm games, but I reckon it can be a disadvantage. Even the slightest input lag or dodgily placed beat sends me off. I end up playing with the game muted, just using the visual cues!

Ayye judith if you don't know. You can turn off the drum sound while playing but keep on the song music. Not sure if that is what your already doing, but I used to have the same issue with the drum noises being slightly behind the music and throwing off my rhythm. Hope that helps

The Taiko game (at least the first one) has settings to adjust that. You can change a lot and find the perfect fit for you.

fyi the drum controller (tatacon) is not compatible with the adventure modes (story modes) due to the overworld and game 2 using zl and zr, which the drum controller uses for the blue notes (kat notes), you can see this for yourself by going into the switch's input testing menu

is the drum compatible with just the regular* taiko mode? i was thinking about getting this game, and if i like it i was thinking about buying the tatacon. please lmk if it works with the regular taiko mode in the game. edit: the regular taiko mode

@@uesyeahduvino7529 drums work fine in taiko mode. you just select drums as controller when selecting the mode. no issues. you can hit the kas unlike in story mode

That sounds like you could pretty easily bypass it by just remapping the buttons on a system level, then. I'll have to try that at some point. It would probably still be pretty awkward to control the menus and overworld and spellcasting and stuff, though. Feels like the ideal solution would have been for the game to let you have a drum controller and normal joycons connected simultaneously and for the player to switch controllers whenever a battle starts.

They are loved because of the big ass arcade drum controller. Nobody plays these with a game pad. The hori drum pad is a pretty good choice as well.

Would you recommend starting off with Taiko no Tatsujin, as a newcomer? Or should I just jump right into this Adventure combo? I more just ask because as much as I want this one, (and to help you guys out 😉) I just realized that the first title for switch is currently part of Play-Asias Black Friday sale. Money is getting tight so I must start making wise decisions. Lol

Wow I knew that part 1 had cha la head cha la from dragon ball but I didnt know it had studio ghibli soundtracks too. I'm hyped. I dont know if I should play this game or the other one

Just got this game yesterday. Taiwan version. I played normal, but the final stage made me switch to easy mode. Lol! Still pretty fun. Looking forward to play the other half of the game!

My physical copy will be at my house Monday Morning! I can't wait! I own these games on the 3ds but I am excited to play the rpg's in english. I just wish they were adding the dlc the 3ds versions received. Both of these games had some amazing dlc music. And Rhythm adventure 1 had additional dlc missions on the 3ds so I hope they decide to add the dlc.

In the UK it's £45 for the two pack digitally, or £20 each for the physical box versions, making the box versions the cheaper option, even if they are still just download codes.

Do you feel there's still much of a reason to buy the original Drum & Fun with this just coming out? Any things that make the Arcade mode better in that one? If you had to get only one of the 2 which one one would you get and why?

I suppose it depends on what you want. Drum n Fun has online/competitive options and lacks things outside the general taiko gameplay. This release is single player orientated with two nice adventure modes. They have a similar quality in terms of music choice, although Drum n Fun probably has more if you include all the DLC. I'd say if you're a casual person, there's no real need to buy both unless you really love one and need more of it.

I have both games and Drum and Fun definitely has more songs. Some of the paid DLC are included in the Rhythmic Adventure Pack, but overall Drum and Fun still contains more variety. Most of the songs I want to play are in Drum and Fun and the ones I *really* like in the Rhythmic Adventure Pack are probably around 7-ish. If you can only buy one, then go for Drum and Fun if you want the classic taiko experience and you have certain songs you want to play in mind. If you want an RPG experience and are not super particular about the songs then get the Rhythmic Adventure Pack. The latter has a Taiko mode anyway that lets you play normally without the bombs and stuff but you can't add DLC songs.

Are you able to play this game with touch mode? I prefer touch mode when I am not using the tailor drum. Button mode can be a bit of a pain...

Does the RPG mode really not fully support the drums? Can anyone confirm? Does the RPG mode support coop multiplayer? We have 2 sets of drums and love the original for multiplayer. Might pick this up if it supports the same.

I would like to have the physical for my collection like with the first Taiko on the switch, however if they have dlc for this game, I'd like it to be easy-peasy to redeem. Plus I like to play Taiko every once in a while and don't want to keep swapping out cartridges :)

I actually think it’s intentional because of the constant need to walk around and interact with things. They probably thought the drum controller would be inconvenient

I wish they put the super Sentai and Kamen Rider tracks as one game and give it a themed campaign and sell it as a toku rhythm game. Especially since there's nothing like it now, splitting the tracks over games just burns away the wallet

@@McgriddleSupreme I know this is kinda late but they do have songs that overlap. So, the Rhythmic Adventure games DO NOT have DLC. Only the songs that come standard with it. Drum n' Fun has a LOT of DLC about a hundred or so. Also, a llot of the songs in the Rhythmic Adventure packs can be bought as DLC in Drum n' Fun.
