A more normal TeaDB episode but featuring Scott Wilson (Yunnan Sourcing) and another important part of Yunnan Sourcing his wife (XY). This is Denny and James first taste of the Taiwanese teas of Taiwan Sourcing. taiwanoolongs.c...
I have gaoshan tgy from teamasters, and I have tgy competition grade from YS, and that just blew mw away, I never knew anxi tgy can have such a buttery mouthfeel and such a strong hui gan. I also used a Lin's ceramic tea kettle and my trusty old dhp clay shui pong that I also got from YS back in 2008 and I have been making mostly tgy in it for 7 years, so it makes a diffrence in taste compared to a gaiwan. Again many thanks to Scott for sourcing such a great tea and for making me happy.
+Nagy Szilard I've actually got a sample of the competition grade TGY coming in the mail. It's a 7 gram sample, and I'm thinking I'll just do the whole thing at once. I've seen some videos of them doing 4 grams, but in one of tea drunks videos she went to a TGY farm and they completely packed the gaiwan. I asked about it and she said that it's entirely appropriate to use 7 grams.
magetaaaaaa Just do it all once in a 120 ml gaiwan, wash first, steep 30 seconds, 20, 40, 1 min, 1 min 30, 2 min, this will yield 6 strong infusions, I always do it this way with TGY and it works.
+magetaaaaaa Tgy no bitterness, but with Dancongs you need fast flash infusions, with ball shaped oolong you need to infuse it longer otherwise it will not open, wuyi and dancong are rolled and open up fast, I got a good brewing guide from teamasters.
Not really. I haven't been out east, but if I were to guess, I would wager that drinking tea for health benefits is a very western concept. In my experience, hanging out on tea forums, tea blogs, and tea channels on RU-vid; none of those places really talk about tea as a health food. I have been drinking tea for many years now, and have not noticed any profound change or health effect.
Hum, why are you guys drinking the wash ? They say that the first water is for your enemies, the second is for your wife and the third water is for yourself. I guess you guys are this guy's enemy ! O.o
Watched a video of Taiwan Sourcing recently, in which Simon (Taiwanese owner) said in Taiwan they don't wash the tea. Why wash something that is not dirty? 😋
