My guess there is another aspect not discussed in this video - China has proven itself to be very smart about their long term strategies. Therefore, unlike Russia, it probably acknowledges that war would destroy so much valuable assets, businesses and technological developments cultivated for decades in Taiwan. War would basically make that island useless from economical perspective, making in addition tens of millions hostile citizens living there.

Yes, but that would not fit the narrative of that military guy. He wants to portray Taiwan as an island where cruel dictatorships (then Japan, now China) start their attacks on innocent little puppies on a beach in Pearl Harbour. Therefore China must not ever get a hold on Taiwan (to attack Pearl Harbour).

And China grows up quickly, but never invaded ours. We want a peaceful world and make a beautiful world under everyone’s study- hard, work-hard. Cooperation would bring us greater mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. No war, I hate the politicians fan the war
@armandocastellanos1music167
What the US wants is to create a local conflict between CHINA and Taiwan [as well as RUSSIA and Ukraine]. USA would not get involved in that war directly with CHINA. Well, as we all know, the US cowardly only picks on small countries. Now it is important to see CHINA's next move after Nancy Pelosi left Taiwan. The best thing for Taiwan and CHINA is to unite as a single CHINA and thus united grow together. The only thing the USA wants is to DIVIDE and WEAKEN by creating conflicts between nations. Now that Nancy Pelosi is gone, Taiwan is left with the problem and uncertainty of how CHINA is going to react against Taiwan.

The US always seems to be in the middle of every conflict
@ericlanglois3782
@ericlanglois3782 Год назад
The US is the only global superpower and the primary defender of the current world order built around international laws... ofcourse they are involved in most conflicts, they are making sure that world order doesn't collapse or get replaced by a new world order dominated by China or Russia or any number of other bad actors out there. I'm not saying the US is doing it for the good of the world, let's face it, they are as corrupt and greedy as anyone else, but I'd rather live under their world order than under the oppressive regimes they often counter.
@a0flj0
@a0flj0 Год назад
It's all rooted in history. The US has come out of WW2 being the most technologically developed country in the world, with the biggest economy, very specifically with the biggest industry, also with the biggest and most powerful military, and relatively undamaged. Any other country of significance in international politics was completely thrashed, after WW2. As a consequence, the US naturally became the political leader of the Western world, who, after having defeated Hitler, found itself threatened by soviet Russia. Russia went bankrupt, the European Western democracies, former empires, were rebuilt, but the US remained the most powerful country in the West. Militarily, it still is years ahead of any other country - after having been devastated by two world wars, European countries are reluctant to the point of irationality to wage war, and therefore, stupidly, don't sufficiently thoroughly prepare for it. Western democracies plus the few developed countries in East Asia (China not being one of them) represent more than half, almost three quarters of the earth's whole economy and military might, despite having a proportionally rather small population. Those countries have an acute interest to see international politics governed by strong international institutions, and the rule of law. Such a world order lets them remain dominant - it fosters economic cooperation and international trade, and, with their developed economies, they can stay ahead of other, less developed countries. Less developed countries feel left out. Rather than walking the long and tedious way of social and economic development, to the point where they become equally developed as Western countries, they wish for a quick overturn of the situation, where the West is no longer dominant in international relations. That's of course stupid, but politics is rarely rational. Few of the less developed countries can really do something about it - but many continuously try. Which makes a certain degree of policing, via peace keeping missions, unavoidable. The US, being the biggest military power in the West, is involved most often, and therefore also gets most of the retaliatory acts of terror. Which starts a devil's circle: the US gets involved in more ample offensive operations, some short, like the invasion of Panama, others long, like the intervention in Afghanistan, all of which leads to even more acts of terror against the US. This forces the US to keep a stronger military and a more widespread military presence on the globe than any other country. And also leads to the US being involved in most conflicts all over the globe.

blockade works 2 ways and from an economy of scale~ the cost to Beijing, if the blockade is extended, will be far greater on Beijing itself than the loss on Taiwan's side; hence even Beijing declare the exercise to be 3 days while their military is kind of exposing their capability to every other military watching this from afar. There are also gaps between the 6 blockade points so it's unlikely any foreign cargo ship will be shot down since the cost of the region's export will also skyrocket, cease or face a reduction in which the volume that'll affect Beijing's port kind of far exceeds the total trade of Taiwan's. So this temporary and not complete blockade seems to be designed for Beijing's internal media than being a message sent outwardly.
