This video does a really good job of explaining and demonstrating how and why in a nice condensed fashion. So many other videos are so long that viewers like my scream, "get to the actual information now please!" keep it up Manny.

Manny, loving your video's .. learning a lot... the 123 open... why have I never thought of that... brilliant... Only question, how come you don't give info on your settings? I know that they can all change with different lenses and bodies - full frame vrs DX, but I'd love to know what you had your app set to on these shots - I really struggle when I go low 2- 4 to get the person on focus? Many thanks

Manny do you expose for the subject? Because you are using a mirrorless and eye tracking your focus is always on the model so you are metering for the models face/skin right? How would you go about using a DSLR? How would be the approach because you don't have the number AF points as a mirrorless and also you are not going to be tilting the camera to get the focus point on her face/skin to meter her in order to expose correctly. How would you go about this? TiA

@SvemirBrkic
@SvemirBrkic 4 года назад
Just having the sun in the frame is not a problem, but you should probably avoid trying to focus on the sun, or even look at it through an (optical) viewfinder. Here is a more detailed discussion (probably one of many) photo.stackexchange.com/questions/4016/can-the-sun-damage-the-camera-sensor-under-what-conditions

great tutorial but you left off something important... What is golden hour?
@SeanP7195
@SeanP7195 6 лет назад
Its the time of the day (twice daily) where the sun is out, but low and it gives the best light to shoot with. You have the overhead middle of the day sun and then it will slowly go away and golden hour will start, then sunset, then you get what is called "blue hour" which is when its right at dusk and the best time to take a nightcap shot.

Higher ISO is better anyways
@anxiouscactus5929
@anxiouscactus5929 6 лет назад
Higher shutter speed causes your picture to become a lot darker. 1/6400 is a really high shutter speed so you're gonna have to decrease your aperture value and increase your ISO but your image is gonna have a lot of noises. If you're just capturing photos that don't have a lot of movements in it a shutter speed of 1/100 is fine. ISO 100 with 1/6400 shutter speed is not a good combination. When I'm on 1/4000 I have to bump up my ISO to 6400.
@mahteef
@mahteef 6 лет назад
@@anxiouscactus5929 it depends on the lens you're using too. Some lenses don't allow you to go that wide in aperture. This guy just puts out videos with no real substance to explain his method as he failed to mention that those types of lenses run you a lot of money. That's why, us broke ass photographers make up lighting by using flash and reflectors.

NEVER hold on to the arms! Always allow for the "negative space" between the arms and body. Arms are a beautiful thing. Arms pressed against the body are not a good idea, as it makes the body look wider and makes for less interesting shoots. Otherwise, thank you for the video, there were some nice tips in there.
