The original by Brubeck is cool. The Puente version is HOT.

This is ridiculous even by Tito's standards. He takes 5, but throws 4 in the bin.

Love the 2 different trumpet parts acting like a call and response to each other, not enough composers let their brass shine that way. It's typically loud high range, so hearing the brass outside their element is nice. Such a good arrangement overall.

I know every song is in 4/4 if you stop counting like a dork, but honestly this version is just brilliant, Tito adds three more beats making it 8/4( i think) so it feels like 123 12 123 and he uses those three extra beats to add melodic answers the original lick so it feels more like classic mambo / salsa

This solo from Mario Rivera is breathtaking.
