Choreography: Robert Bondara Music: „Reckoner” by Radiohead Costume and Light Design: Robert Bondara Polish National Ballet Dancers: Yuka Ebihara and Kristóf Szabó www.robertbondara.com
I love when choreographers actually remember that male dancers aren't just spotters, bases and supports and creates choreo that showcases both dancers!
To me, this is a beautiful example of balance between two people, different bodies types, different genders, different souls... While still being able to rely on the strength of a male physique for lifts and physical balance. We are all different yet we are all one. I see breaking down stereotypes, breaking social norms, saying yes instead of no. I may be influenced by the lyrics, but regardless, this is a beautiful piece.
.. and also wraps the meaning behind the dance as if they are complimentary .. always helping each other up in difficult times, and keeping each other good in their weakness.
idk how some people can look at this and say it isn't real dancing and that it's bad, how can you not see all the emotion that these dancers are putting into expressing whatever message it is with movements? it's so wonderful, it makes me wanna go take some classes and dance around
I don’t know why but I just love when people use point shoes in other dance styles then ballet, just because it extends the person in such a subtle way. And also that turn @1:26 and the thing @1:34 was so amazing and cool
@@kjh5574 That's what I was just thinking - well not as precise, thinking of it as "modern ballet" but that's probably not 100% accurate. Either way, you can definitely see the ballet elements at the forefront, just overlaid with more modern, interpretive dance expression.
The results of working hard for several years, seen in just a few minutes, that's what you see! It's like flying, having control of each inch of your body, but if I have the chance to be a dancer in my next life, I would go for it! About 42 years ago, I was an eightteen years old boy, who loved to dance in discothecks, often I've been asked to come to join the danceclasses of the ladies I danced with. When I met Anja, she asked me the same question, she was so beautyfull I could not refuse her, it never ended as I hoped for, but it was the first contact with classic ballet, after six years I quit dancing, I was to old for a carreer as a proffesional dancer, but had a great time. And now I dance again sixty years old, not so flexible anymore, much knowledge lost, but still enjoying dancing. It's good for your health and you are never to old, it keeps you young in mind!
I hope you never give up dancing. I trained for many years too and still take classes, teach occasionally and perform now and again too. I will be 68 in a few months. Dance is the ABSOLUTE BEST thing for mind/body health as we age and brings so much joy.
@@@listenqt, thank you so much for your reaction, before the Covid-19 impact I already had to quit dancing, because of problems with my health, acute glaucoom and obese had an enorm impact on my life, gained alot of weight and my sight became worse and then ofcourse Covid-19 did stop the dance lessons. But if it's allowed, than I will fight my way back to start again, the virus of dancing is much stronger than any other virus and it will serve the people that discovered this. You can't immagine how much I needed this mail from you, many thanks.
These videos inspired me to take contemporary dance lessons. I am 30. Had my first lesson today! Maybe one day I'll be able to do something a little bit similar to what is on the video. Anyways, for me, it's about expressing meself, more than anything.
Congratulations on taking that first step to doing something that makes you happy regardless of the age restrictions society tries to fool us with!!! I hope you never stop dancing, and I hope it serves you in whichever ways you might need ❤️
omg.......what on earth did I just see??? My heart is still fluttering!! That was the most beautiful dancing I've ever seen in my entire life!!! Wow! For 6 minutes and 24 seconds, my world stopped.
My whole life has been literature. I'm a classicist, specializing in early Roman texts. I thought I was probing the heights of human expression, but this performance reminds me that it's the body, and the energy therein, that the soul finds its greatest realization. Thankyou.
Oh WOW! She is a beautiful and passionate light! And the way he holds and supports her tho...?!! I mean?!! How is he able to lift her, support her, while lyrically dancing to EVERY subtle whisper of that music? He makes it seem....magical....they BOTH make it seem magical. So Beautiful....thank you, for your gift.
This is what happens after the diners have gone, and one of the servers takes a break. She leaves the dining room to listen to the music at the party. He comes out to summon her back in. They have their playful banter. She keeps reaching out toward the music as if to say, “Take Me With You!” He goes back as if to say, "I'll meet you inside." She lingers a while and decides to take the music with her. So many breathtaking moments, intriguing connections, excellent technique, and marvelous expressions! The slo-mo pas de chat, the bluebird on the ankle, the supported panche with the 2-arm reach! Was the exchange of smiles at 0:59 intended to be a part of the piece or just a moment between dancers? Love this piece! Well done, Mr. Bondara!!!
This is good stuff where body, mind and soul and spirit work together to form such harmony between a man and a woman. Very elegant and classy in every way one can think of. Congratulations.
I always get tears in my eyes (because of how beautiful this is) and I hope that one day I’ll be with someone who will want to dance with me like this.
This performance is beautiful. I can't get over it as a lover of neo-classical ballet. The music is in sync. Well done to the ballerinas. I love this! Here is the lyric to the song: Reckoner You can't take it with you Dancing for your pleasure. You are not to blame for Bittersweet distractors Dare not speak its name Dedicated to all hu- All human beings. Because we separate Like ripples on a blank shore (In rainbows) Because we separate Like ripples on a blank shore (In rainbows). Reckoner Take me with you Dedicated to all hu- All human beings.
victoria guzman isnt it wonderful? do you think it just comes from inside, meaning not scripted.. i like to think that dancing this together makes them truly feel like that...
How 1.2K people could dislike this stunning, evocative, and powerful performance is beyond comprehension. It is absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for the pleasure and privilege to be able to view it! It is truly a gift.
I come back to this video when I yearn to feel something more. I don't know anything about dance but I do know this brings me so many different feelings but most important, when I rewatch this video I see two people who have great chemistry and that connection between them is just beautiful
This was amazing. I love how they make the choreography look so easy, as if there’s no force used anywhere. The entire dance looked so smooth and flowed so nicely
Like everything! The dancers, their clothes, the music, the choreography, the cameras and the editing. They let you see the entire movements os the dancers without cutting to much. All is perfect!
i just came here cuz this was recommended to me and i realized that i have seen this live ! not the same dancers, but the same choreography. i absolutely love this !! 🤍
Stunningly gorgeous! Absolutely breathtaking. Both the choreographer the pure talent of the dancers should be praised for bringing this amazing piece to so many people. Truly mesmerising.
