As a user of the ATEM Mini Pro ISO in a professional setting, this device makes a compelling case for itself as a more flexible, user-friendly all-in one streaming box/monitor/switcher. Really impressive stuff. Blackmagic, please take notes. Let us easily record and stream at the same time. Let us play videos from the media pool. Let us choose the PiP sources. Don't limit us to 30 items in the media pool.
This RU-vid channel is an amazing find, especially in this new Covid era where everybody has had to become a Zoom and livestreaming expert. Being able to take your livestreaming to the next level with multi-cam, wireless (with Hollyland Mars gear) , battery operable, switched video, with lower thirds, chroma keying, split screen is truly phenomenal. It would be great to do split screen as 3 side-by-side or 4 side-by-side or in a 4-square box, or even 5 (e.g., four live feeds displayed and an SD video source or pic that they are looking at and responding to). I would love to see that functionality in the future! Great channel, Tom! Keep up the outstanding work!
I have been checking out this device for about a year now. I am so happy I found your vid. Everything I was hoping for you spoke about. Thank you so much. I am soooo glad you made a video!
I think the world needs more star transitions. Thanks for featuring that! Also, thanks for sharing so many details about this cool product. Not quite for me, but could see renting for an event or similar...
@@andthenwhat3506 Speedify does not work anywhere near as well as LiveU or Teradek. Without hardware to support it as well as software it just doesn't work well.
Question👋🏻 can you stream on other accounts that are tied to other email addresses? For example if you sign in on a specific email that’s tied to 1 RU-vid channel but then want to stream on another totally different channel that’s tied to another email can/does the Yolo allow for multiple RU-vid accounts?
Great video again. Loved seeing you test run the YoloBox Pro a month back or so. Such a great device for multiple applications. Can't decide if my favorite part was when you pretended to type at your desk behind the "green trees green screen," or the fact that I learned I can use my Focusrite 2i2 as a display stand for other devices 🤣!
I love my yolobox pro. It has fantastic features and eliminates having to bring my laptop to live stream, however I've noticed that it does not pick up super chat comments from RU-vid. I also realized it doesn't charge while streaming although being plugged in. So basically although you have a power source, your unit will die after a few hours of livestreaming weird.
Interesting about the Super Chats- I feel like that's something they could fix. As for charging, I had the same issue and it turns out I wasn't using the right adapter. I started using a 12V USB adapter and now it stays charged while streaming when plugged in.
@@tombuck Thanks Tom. I'll give that a shot because I am not using the charging adapter it came with. I'll have to get it out of the box that it came with.
So I have a yolobox pro and wondered who Tom was 😂? Now that I know you have gained another subscriber. I do enjoy the support so far from the dev team.
Did you get the 12v usb 3.0 power plug with your Yolobox pro? I didn't and if you did I will need to take that up with them! LOL If you didn't but you have a link to where you bought yours would you be willing to share? Thanks! I also didn't get two chords. I only recieved one that was usb-c to usb.
The adapter didn’t come with mineI’m not sure about the cables or if there are different “kits” that it can come with. Their customer support is pretty awesome and super responsive, so I’d recommend reaching out to them and seeing if they can help. Heck, maybe they could just send you a charger 🤷🏻♂️
@@tombuck as of right now I am strongly considering the yolo box I like the features…we are transitioning to a 2 person podcast with multiple cameras and once we are big enough we want to be able to live stream.
Never heard about a YoloBox Pro before. For that price I better be able to stream out of the box haha that thing is more than $1300 here in Canada, you'd be looking more at $1700 for it haha. Super cool to see though! I won't lie. I dig this WAY more than software options.
Very comprehensive review thank you! I wonder if there will be any remote controls via wifi in the future. Linking another android phone to do the switching, or trigger recording for example would be fantastic. That way you don't have to touch the screen of the device to do basic functions.
Between £800 - £1500 in the U.K. for this bit of kit is serious investment in a product and probably not for those looking for a budget solution. Great video though.
Tom, I know you're a big fan of ecamm live which can stream at 4k if you using the pro version. But if you're connecting all those cameras via the Yolobox, is that the bottleneck? Like does it limit the stream quality to 1080 despite cam being able to do 4K?
The YoloBox is a 1080 device. My Sony in this video/streams was set to 4K, but the output was only 1080. Still works great though. I love 4K video, but I'm not yet sold on 4K streaming. The idea is great, but the number of casual viewers capable of viewing 4K streams isn't super high just yet.
I just got this, ive had the ninja V that i was using to live stream from but they refuse to make the audio porion to share sound so got rid of it. You can only use whatever cam your connected to or switched to for audio. And their CS isnt great :(
Nice and ro"Buck"ST piece of hardware it seems to be..the software , like the Rodecaster, can be updated and will be inproved. I don't need it for now, but in future, who knows. I'll be watching. Nice touch the "Tom message on their software.. :-)" and reason to be proud of!
Hi @tombuck, can you tell me how to get hold of the HDMI Encoder you referenced in the video at 4:04. I'm keen to get several of these, to try to solve a similar problem you did, but I'm not entirely certain of what to search for. Any help or a link would be greatly appreciated. regards Stephen.
Also: at 4:25 I zoomed in to read the device and note it says Bi Directional Ghost! So.. is it Haunted? Lol, but what does this spooky text mean? thanks again.
Thank you Tom, please where can I get a stand to suspend the yolobox pro or yolobox mini? The top of my camera is already occupied with the Rode Wireless Go II MIC so I can’t put the yolobox on the camera, can you suggest a good stand or tripod to keep the yolobox on?
Since it has a 1/4 20 mount, really any tripod, light stand, c stand, or articulating arm will work. The simplest option is probably just a simple light stand 👍
That's quite the rabbithole to go down, but my general recommendation is Sony. The ZV-E10 is a budget option, and something like the a7IV or FX3 would be higher end choices. A lot of churches use Blackmagic cameras and switchers (which it kind of funny considering the name) and they can be phenomenal as long as there's someone who understands how to set it all up and operate them correctly.
as life is too short for cable management and trying to be minimalism may I use like 3 wireless smartphones as my cameras on weddings/sports/conferences for exemple? Thank You.
Currently the way to do that with the YoloBox would be to run each phone through a wireless transmitter/receiver, but perhaps at some point they can add in NDI in an update, which if possible would be extremely useful.
The YoloBox will take any HDMI input, so depending on your GoPro you might be able to send an HDMI signal directly or you might need one of the Media Mod accessories to do it.
Hey Tom, I use YoloBox to live streaming for my local high school sports teams and love the product. My question is have you heard if Yolo will come out with a replay feature like the Sling Studio did?
Hey hey heyyyyy! I just got my unit and I found out that you could install speedify into it so you could benefit from channel bonding like you would with the LiveU solo but all within the yolobox pro. I installed and it actually worked out great!
So would you recommend using the YoloBox Pro in conjunction with say an Elgato stream deck or a Loupdeck Live? Also what is that wireless video streaming device you have on the camera in your hand when your outside?
Currently, you can't connect something like a stream deck directly to the YoloBox, but you could run them all into a computer (with the YoloBox acting almost like an ATEM). I was using the Hollyland Mars 400 to send a wireless video signal. I have a whole video on it, it's very fun!
@@tombuck Cool beans Thanks for the response. My wife has been live streaming with her phone but we've been looking for a good multicam solution for her & I believe this is it. Funny I realized you responded as I was in the middle of watching your new Rode Headphones video.
Thanks for such a clear video. I have an important question. How I have to do so that the screen of the cameras remains visible by connecting it with the Yolobox... I use a Canon Camera And It Is Really Having Problems...
It depends on your camera. Some cameras will always turn the screen off when an HDMI source is connected and others will only turn it off when you have all of the on-screen info set to display over HDMI. It really varies a lot by make and model.
Can I ask you what mic do recommend for your current set up , overhead one , going into a rodecaster pro ? Wasn’t sure if you still use sennheiser or another brand , can you let me know your latest recommendations and if you know of a long out of shot arm to hold it, I am using in a similar tool too you , appreciate your time ?
Hey Tom. Would it allow you to switch between cameras via a computer in the example you used with the Hollyland? Use case a one man show with multiple cameras.
Can you go live to fb and yt using an existing event and streaming key already set up? Or do you have to enter details/set up the streaming details every time?
@@tombuck I guess I mean if you pre schedule the stream (set it up in yt ahead of time) can you stream to that live event or does it create a whole new live event when you go live? The workflow I have in mind is to set up the events a week in advance and use the stream key to go live on that particular event.
This could be a solution for small churches on budget. Audio input is my question. How do you get audio from an analog mixer. Do I need a computer to connect audio on it?
I think this could be a great simple option for churches (YoloLive themselves told me that schools and churches are some of their biggest customers). As for audio, you'll just need to somehow get your output into a 3.5mm cable. Depending on your mixer, you should be able to find adapters/cables that work and then you would eliminate the need for a computer altogether.
Hello Tom, your video is incredible, I have been following you for some time now and I love your videos thanks to them I have managed to understand many things that used to cost me a lot, thank you very much for it, it is possible that you will make a video where you use these 3 pieces of equipment, rodecaster pro, atem mini pro and yolobox pro to see how they work with each other, please
Hey thanks for the kind words! I have several ATEM & Rodecaster videos, but I haven't made one that throws the YoloBox into the mix yet. Could be a fun idea!
Full on awesome review Tom! And some great use case scenarios. Quick question… I assume I could use the Yolo box pro as an input to zoom or teams, correct? My use case would be live streaming a monthly club meeting to allow a in person/zoom hybrid. Or in an instructional setting like piano lessons via zoom.
Hey Tom! I record a podcast with 3 Sony a7iii and 1 a7siii cameras. Does this save the multi cam file in 4K? All the ones I’ve researched say up to 1080. Any recommendations on a lower budget one if available? Great video!!!
This currently does NOT save the multi cam output. You’d need something along the lines of the ATEM ISO for that, which would also automatically create a Resolve project file 👍
Can you show us how you made the time they said transitioning to beginning with the layers it looks pretty cool I like it a lot make us so the total how you did it I want to do it to
The scoreboard time? In the scoreboard section, there's a settings option that lets you customize EVERYTHING. It's super simple and you can dial things in exactly how you want them.
Really it’s either or. The benefit to the YoloBox is how stand-alone it is, but the ATEM has physical buttons and some incredibly advanced features if you really want to dig into it.
Chadwick sent me. Looking forward to learning from you. I am trying to master my use of the Rode wireless Go II and my options of streaming live into and through my Rodecaster as well as using the Rode wireless Go II and recording for posting and playback with Canon XA15. Stumbling my way to getting it right. You are a great help from someone who doesn't have a clue, just a want to. I've been telling people, 2021 for me is like, trying to solve a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle, except I'm trying to do 4 of them at the same time, with all 4000 pieces in the same box. Does this make sense to anyone else out there? Please tell me it's do able. Thank you all . PS I like your current use of the Focusrite. I too have one now collecting dust, since I got my Rodecaster back in March.
Have you seen those puzzles that are all one solid color with no edges? Maybe that's what we're all working on 😁 I'm happy that the videos have been helpful- I promise it's possible to get to wherever you want to be, it just takes time. Things can seem very overwhelming if you look at it all at one, but if you start with what you've got and then fine tune/upgrade parts as you go along it becomes much more attainable.
You know, I'm not totally sure. I want to say yes, but I can't confirm. It might be worth reaching out to YoloLiv on social media for an answer, they're usually super responsive.
Hey Tom, off topic can you consider doing a video on how to adjust/edit audio properly with something like Audacity? I know it's free but it's all some of us have. Would love to hear your input on this. Thanks!
I've never used Audacity myself, so I'm not very familiar with it. I mainly stick to Audition/GarageBand/Logic, but there are a lot of basic principles that carry over regardless of application.
The Pro is still super capable, so I guess it really comes down to price (and you might be able to find the Pro on sale more often than the newer Ultra). Vertical video is also important to consider, since the Ultra is really the way to go if you plan to stream vertically.
In this video I was using the Sony a7SIII and Canon EOS R, both at 24fps. The YoloBox Pro has been pretty friendly with any camera I've connected to it so far 👍
Another super valuable video. Thanks, Tom! Q: Were you able to go live on Facebook in 1080? It isn't clear to me from YoloBox or Facebook if streams from my YoloBox Pro are limited to 720.
According to our tests, livestreaming to Facebook with YoloBox Pro is 1080p and when the stream ends the video compressed to 720p. No limit/restriction on Yolo encoder!
It could definitely work for that, but with cameras and everything connected, it might be a bit big. But it'll give the most versatility and best quality for certain.
Great video, thanks :). Has anyone figure out how to do replays on the yolobox pro?. I stream soccer games and I want to be able to replay the goals, so the last 10 seconds everytime someone scores. Thanks in advance.
@@tombuck I thought you know it, because you act like someone who works with the yololive box. I am a bit disappointed about that, because I expect, that someone who creates such videos knows much more about the products and does not only advertising. 🤨😕
@@tombuck I’m subscribing just for the response. You have great energy! Thanks Tom!! Now to comb your videos and see if you have anything about lighting…
You didn't mention anything for wireless live streaming different cameras with Yolo box pro, by the way when I upload a video 4k it doesn't stretch much on my s23 ultra but your video does take over almost thr whole screen in horizontal.
Wireless live streaming with cameras works well with something like the Holland Mars setup (I do have a video about that). And I did make this video in a 2:1 aspect ratio in hopes that it wouldn't get cropped on phones, which I'm happy to hear is what happened!
I'm working on a Yolobox update video, so I'll be sure to talk about the Hollyland in it. Basically it's just a great way to bring in sources to the YoloBox wirelessly. If I had had these tools when I was teaching and we would stream sports games, it would've been amazing. Instead of running cables and setting up computers, we could've just had a YoloBox and a few Hollylands running cameras wirelessly. It seriously would've taken our setup time from 3 hours to like 15 minutes.
The battery, processor, display, and build quality are all much improved and the added inputs open up a lot of possibilities. Plus it seems to work with just about any camera/source 👍
