I accidentally dropped the Hiwin linear guide carriage and some of the ball bearings just flew away. I decided to take it apart to service it and repack/replace it with ball bearings.
The ball size for CA (standard accuracy, no preload) was about 3.16 or 3.165mm (my micrometer only reads to 0.01mm accuracy and I don't have a digital micrometer). It is very close to the 1/8th size ball bearing - 3.175mm. I'm guessing that the smaller size is for no preload and 3.175mm is for a pretty heavily preloaded carriage.
It's for a cnc machine I'm building.
