This car seems perfect for city driving. It's small, so it will fit in parking spots that other, bigger cars can't fit in. However, 114 miles of range makes it such that it can't be the only car you have in your house. One way Mini could have made this car more attractive (other than increasing the range, which if they could have done it, they would have) is by increasing the amount of power it can accept. 50kw is simply too slow, which you have cars like Tesla able to take in 150 kw+. Imagine pulling up to a DC fast charger and being in and out in 10 minutes? Now you're talking, and it makes the 114 miles of range more doable.
I have the 2019 Mini Cooper Countryman All4 PHEV. It only gives me 17 miles of electric range, but that's surprisingly enough for most of my driving. Most of my trips are 14 miles or less. I will be VERY interested to see if Mini comes out with their 2023 Mini Cooper Countryman EV like they've been promising. If they do, I'd consider switching to that, but only if the range was at least 200 miles. It's bigger, so it can fit more battery and you figure it's possible.
My dude. Great info about the Mini, and electrify America, for sure. Native Texan and all that good stuff, also. We gotta disagree on Torchy’s my guy. Hit a real taqueria buddy! Next time you’re in north Texas let a dude know and we’ll hook you up proper!
Does the charger that came with your new Mini SE have interchangeable plugs for 120v and 240v outlets? Can you share a link for the Tesla charger adapter you bought? Thanks!
Hello thanks for the video. Can I ask do I need a special charger at home or is this just for the super charge ? I know for level two I need to get a 240 v plug. But I was not told I need anything else !
@Rania Hamdan the car comes with a regular charger that can be plugged into any outlet in your house. It also comes with a 240 charger the same that is used for a home dryer outlet.
Your comment about the “Full $7500 tax credit” is outdated. As of Aug 2022 , this car no long qualifies for the EV credit because it is not manufactured in North America. I ordered one in March, with a wait time of 6+ months, arrived just this week, and dealer officially said that it does not qualify.
Brother there are a bunch of videos on RU-vid about the Mini Cooper SE, they are very informative, no need to feather the throttle and driving at 60 mph.
