In this video I talk to you guys about the rust repairs and touch ups that were done to my Jeep Cherokee XJ. I also talk about the future plans that I have for my Jeep Cherokee XJ. Thanks for watching!
Ya especially for the amount of money, I was expecting better quality work from a shop that had good reviews. Much happier with it now. Thanks for watching!
Just use the Grand Cherokee ZJ tie rod and ends. It's solid and more beefy as apposed to the XJ's hollow tie rod and dinky ends. Google it and you'll find a bunch of write ups on the upgrade and part numbers you'll need. It's all direct bolt in. I did it about a year ago for mine and it handles really nice.
@@KCars ya, for the sized tires and what you plan to use the jeep for, I would say ZJ steering would be your cheapest and best choice. I drive though woods, thick mud, and snow up to my door in the North East and have never bent or broke anything. XJ steering on the other hand will bend relatively easy if you're not carful off roading. Anything you choose would be better than stock haha.
likely the steering is a combination of warn bushings and the odd tie rod roll that the stock XJ steering has. I put on the Curry Rock Jock correct link steering but there are a ton of steering upgrades you can do and lots of manufacturers, Rustys, Ironman Fab 4x4, JCR, CavFab, etc. Honestly all are a big improvement from stock.
I’ve been looking at either the curry or Rusty’s. Would like to stick with Rusty’s since that’s what lift I have. I’ve heard it has a few clearance issues with the track bar bolt I think. Will the curry steering work if I only have a 3 inch lift?
Love your xj videos man!! I gotta super clean 01 60th anniversary ed. It's my daily rn and I'm trying to do all the preventative maintenance I can and your videos really help 👍👍
Glad you’re enjoying them! Doing the slip yoke eliminator and maybe steering next. Also planning on doing a paint correction too hopefully. Thanks for watching!
looks pretty good dude. paint work is always the most expensive repair. alot people dont realize that. patriot blue looks awesome when its clean and shiny. replacement bumpers are pretty cheap, i personally would also paint the front bumper and plastic bumper corners when you do the rear bumper like a classic or limited XJ. mine had unpainted corner plastics too, i scuffed and primered and painted mine to match the body color, stone white. i like it much better now.
Ya body work can definitely get expensive. I’m thinking I’ll just paint the bumper end caps black since they are a little faded right now. I kinda prefer black over painting them the body color. Planning on also doing a paint correction sometime this summer to shine her up a bit. Thanks for watching!
