Born in Montreal and raised in Ontario, I have visited every province (but not the territories) extensively. However, your series has opened my eyes to a new area of interest - the indigenous cultures of each area. I plan to incorporate that into my next Canadian trip. Thanks for the wake-up call!
It’s pretty comparable to America so you very well could lol just apply for a work visa and go work up at the slopes in Whistler or somewhere lol you’ll get housing accommodation and such with it too usually!
I am surprised you didn't visit Fort Edmonton while you were there. They operate a steam locomotive and show life at different years in edmonton, I highly recommend visiting the next time you're passing through
Loving the series Mike, excited to see the finale. Could you also make a bonus video with all the unseen fun clips, unexpected adventures, behind the scenes stuff etc. That would be a great addition to it. Cheers :)
I just wanted to say a few things. 1. I watch a lot of travel videos from people all over the world and you are by far my favorite channel, for your kindness, compassion, honesty and integrity. 2. I am a born and bred canadian ,family have been here long before Canada became a thought of a country , and this series has shown me places I didn't know existed, and allowed me to revisit places I have been. 3. Thank you so much for sharing these videos with us, your parents should be so proud of the amazing human being you are. Happy birthday 🎂
Alberta looks phenomenal…I gotta try that space room. Spewin, There’s only one more video left in the series, my Sunday morning always greeted with a new video
Love the love you have for your country. I live in US. Wish more people here had the same appreciation for our country as you do yours. Before iI forget, I actually ordered some Tru Earth laundry soap because of your suggestion.
Michael, I am really enjoying this series. Will is a great traveling companion for you. The two of you have a great friendship and that fact comes across in the videos. I hope it lasts for the balance of your lives.
My family stayed in the space room as well. The kids loved it. The water park is amazing. Probably the best part is how WARM it is in there. You get out of the pool and you’re not cold. I’m sad that we’re getting close to the end of the series…
It's been 13 years since I visited Drumheller and this video brought back some old memories! Thanks for sharing awesome video as always👍 Love the series😁
Love this one! Too bad the ending can’t be by train but you’ve already done the Rockies in another episode which was mind blowing!!! Thanks for sharing.
So great you had this time going across Canada with sprouht. I get the sense you are prepare for something even bigger than what we are watching right now. You have taken us all on a memorial ride across Canada. We appriciate the amount of time you have invested into yourself. well played micheal, well played. keep on keeping on homie!!!
I would put that Mall in Edmonton (and that HOTEL!) and the bar in Nova Scotia as the absolute two best experiences you have had on this trip. At least, so far.
Great video with camping, horseback riding, dinosaurs, soaking in Banff's hot springs, etc. But it must have been tough not to just STAY in that spaceship hotel room instead of exploring the REST of the gigantic West Edmonton Mall! Thanks for this!
One surprise after another in this one with the biggest at the end. I didn't expect you'd run into snow even if it was autumn. Great to see Banff and that beautiful lodge - they really knew how to build something that goes with the surroundings. And that West Edmonton Mall isn't just a mall, it's a resort. Is every room in the Fantasyland Hotel space themed or are there various fantasies?
Greetings from China. Loving the series. Took the Canadian from Toronto to Vancouver in the summer of 1989 with my dad. Stopped in Alberta for three days before moving on to Vancouver then taking the train back. Lots of great memories.
We may not know how we're going to get there, but, with a smile and a chuckle, we'll stay tuned. You guys are NUTS! What a complete BLAST! [I feel so sorry for all the displaced folks.]
Enjoyed the horses the archery, and Banff in the snow. (Glad you and Will didn’t slide off road.) Hate that you had to cancel the train. Interesting going from that great rustic ranch to the super high tech mall. Great video, Mike!
Great video! I was looking forward to seeing what you did with Alberta. You definitely did not disappoint! Love how you rolled with the snow and went to the Badlands. There's lots to do in Edmonton in the winter ... festivals - tons of them outdoors, tea at he Hotel MacDonald (another grand railway hotel), the Canadian Birkebeiner, patio dining with heaters and lap blankets, step into the tropics (or Arid or Temperate) at Muttart Conservatory. Really cool that you stayed in the space room at the Fantasy Land Hotel ... it used to be the Canadian Rail room!
The badlands are exquisitely beautiful. I am glad you can appreciate it up close and in person. Your entire video is wonderful as usual and I am looking forward to the next installment. I believe you will go far with what you have chosen to do with your life. Keep that wonderful attitude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Throughout this series, you've highlighted the First Nation/ native experience and knowledge. I appreciate that so MUCH! ❤️👍 You went with the log cabin rather than tipi for fire making. Bold. 😆🔥
I loved how gentle Cisco looked beside you. Wasn't sure those 3 logs were going to be enough to keep you warm all night but, you made it! Looked like a lot of fun, especially cooking shishkabobs on the campfire. What a experience that mall was! Very exciting! I don't know what I wanted to do 1st. Loved the neon miniature golf theme -cool! Neat! Will is so easy going, & makes for a really great traveling companion. Loved how he thought ahead on the popcorn! The flooding was devastating. I'm looking forward to seeing your hometown B.C.
As an Alberta my self even tho this video is years old and I'm just seeing it now I really appreciate giving my home city (edmonton) some justice. I had a family member who worked for Elk Island park, grew up going to my girl guide group there, and had no idea people really cared about it. I thank you for that Micheal this was really cool to see. I as love banff and jasper and they have a special place in my heart, So glad you liked it to :)
Great trip! Great sunset, scenery, love the bonfires. The Edmonton Mall was really amazing, would be both fun and relaxing to stay there. Thank you for the invite along and looking forward to the next leg of the trip!
2 things. The cave and basin national historic site is the birthplace of the national parks, not the upper hot springs. And the cave and springs were found by the 3 railway workers but they were by no means not the first to find it. It was a sacred site for many indigenous groups for thousands of years.
This was fun. You had the YING and YANG of experiences in this vlog. Roughing it in the wilderness then then staying a huge mall amusement park under one roof. 😱🤪. Looks like you guys were having fun and didn’t want to leave. Looking forward to how the last episode is going to end this great series. Stay well 👍🙏😎
another great video Mike. We, my family, are always anxiously awaiting your videos to pop up. We all sit around and watch you two....great stuff; keep it up, and we have been supporting TrueEarth
Didn't expect that on the ending. Maybe you guys can plan a trip back to Edmonton to finish the job at some point? All of the episodes have been awesome, but this one was WOW! I'll have to check that hotel out when I'm in Edmonton...along with hopefully taking in a hockey game (preferably against Boston). Ok, on to British Columbia!!
I thiiiiiiiink i speak for a lot of people when I say I would love to see a full dedicated video at the end of the trip recapping the entire train journey from coast to coast. Travel series is awesome but Yenno im a train junkie mike!
Loved this episode. Especially Banff. You missed the best of the snow which fell just prior to Christmas. Hubby now wants to visit again and include Edmonton this time for the Fantasyland Hotel 🙈
Thank you for show us all around Alberta! I was born there but moved away when I was only 6 months old and never got to experience it myself. I now live in Nova Scotia and someday hope to visit. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good content!
God I love Canada so much. There's so much you haven't done yet. Where's Spirit Island? Or Calgary? Each episode could be two hours and it wouldn't be enough to show it all.
I think what I'm looking forward to next week for the most is finding out how you managed to get from Edmonton to the coast after that insane storm. It took out pretty much every road and railway.
Hey glad you had a good time there, according to Ste Bros, the talk is that they might be closing out the Othello Tunnels according to Ste Bros, the roads to Othello are impassible, so maybe use a motorbike to go have a look.
I was waiting for this to come out, I live in the prairies, decently close to Drumheller, I have never been to WEM because its pretty expensive, but I was glad to see you enjoyed it and glad to see you enjoyed Alberta!
If you've come to watch buffalo & cattle - where are they? The stocking level is about 1% of what it needs to be to support the proper functioning of the soil. I guess the rainfall is enough to stop it turning into desert
Good one Mike! I had no idea there was so much to do in the West Edmonton mall. I loved your space room. I also liked the ranch you stayed at. I think it was really interesting how they had you spend time with the horses before going out on your ride. Very cool.😊
Because of your vlogs, postings and enthusiasm......I now have a pecial love for Canada in my heart. You should be named Mr Ambassador for Canada... Wow, Wow, Wow !!!!!
I loved this segment, Mike. Canada definitely has gorgeous scenery. That Mall was awesome; that was fun to watch, what a cool room. So, sad that it appears your goal to go across Canada by train may have been dashed. Can't wait to see what happens next week.
I don't buy the newspaper, but my school does, so I read one almost every day during the school year. I end up reading articles that I otherwise wouldn't; would recommend.
Holy cow that was amazing with a journey to come to a ending like that, happy to see the next episode was uploaded but that must have been like hitting a wall at that point.
West Edmonton Mall is definitely on my bucket list for a 4th visit to your homeland, even if it means perambulating with a walking stick! After all, I'm 69 now and not sure when I'll be able to do it, given other lifestyle priorities in the next few years. I do hope you can get down to see me here in Melbourne before those decisions have to be made. You, your family, travelling mates and experiences have been a lifting of the spirits over our recent troubled times. Thanks for taking me (and my friends) with you via RU-vid to all these wonderful places that are both on and off the usual tourist trail. I've already given you a few suggested ideas on some off the beaten track things to see and do down here. Hurry up and come on down. Cheers from Michael.
The reminder of exactly how mindblowing it was to walk around WEM for the first time and that WEM is actually totally 100 percent insane. Didn't even cover the life size pirate ship nor the aquatics show. And I am disappointed no one called it "Berbinst"...in case you're all wondering vowels make Brbn St. less cool...clearly.
Now, I knew you all had a “dramatic” end to the series because of following on IG but watching it happen again was still thrilling perhaps even moreso because I knew you all were safe. Also, now ai have a feeling I’m going to have to just dedicate a couple of weeks each summer for the next TEN YEARS checking out all this stuff y’all are sharing in this ONE series. I LOVE it! I’m gonna be a little sad once I finish episode 10.
That hotel room is literally my dream! OMG that's amazing! I normally don't like malls, amusement parks or hotels, but that looks so cool. Haha them in the hot tub with bubbles looks like a couple's getaway. 🤣
Several friends live in Edmonton. They love that mall in the winter. They say it gets a bit hot and muggy in the summer (probably because of the water park). Luckily the winters are long. And it's still fun to bring visitors in the summer or do the shopping you need to do, but dress light.
I was lucky to be able to visit Banff a couple years ago. I always wanted to go back (4 days was too short!!) but I wanna include train travel in the itinerary next time. Canada is so beautiful.
Been to the WEM twice. Once on a family vacation when I was like 13 driving all the way from Kansas City, MO. to Edmonton. Totally fun, it was the 80's and I got a Grant Fuhr jersey. Then again in my 20's when I was at a free agent camp there and my girlfriend at the time insisted I get a Canada Beanie Baby and the WEM was the only place that had them. What a long, strange trip it's been. So far...
"The Badlands" sounds so sinister - thanks for showing us the natural beauty of it though. Love the variety from the giant mall through to the gorgeous classic 1800s hotel. Alberta's a long way from here, but I'd certainly consider visiting now. The "Via Rail regrets..." bit still hits hard even though I saw it on your Instagram at the time, and on Will's channel - but where Mike of the trailer didn't know where he was going next, we know you do get home and you've done things to show us next week. See you then!
OMG...never knew malls could be THAT huge...amazing...its like a winter disneyland..lol. Another great video...enjoyed the Painted Warriors Ranch stay!
Loved the Jim Carey "The Mask" impression. LOL! Wishing I could be an imported tourist way more than I get to be. The dinosaur park bench reaction made me literally laugh out loud. The Hoodoos looked neat. I have heard of the mall and it looks so cool. Two big kids having fun. I loved the hotel room. I want to go to Banff and Jasper SO BAD.
Believe it or not, this Nashvillian actually rode the Canadian from Toronto to Edmonton several years ago to stay several days at the Fantasyland Hotel at the Edmonton Mall. Only thing I think I missed at the mall was the ice skating rink. They did have a submarine ride which I don't think you mentioned. Remember my visit well as I was staying at the hotel when the American terrorist bombed the Federal Building in Oklahoma, City. That also let you know how many years ago I made that trip to both Jasper and Edmonton. I love Canada. And I always eat at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Vancouver.
