I love how you even keep the little mistakes you made in the game. This was very fun to watch and based on your opinion, I would actually love to try cooking these someday. I already love octopus, but I’ve never had it in a sweet preparation.

PangoPixel sure takoyaki is delicious but most of the time you won’t really taste the octopus in it.

Yooooooo! As a native Osakan, I’m glad you liked the dish! You can also use ham, cheese or anything else seems nice, other then octopus. Also as my advice, when you fry the balls, add half-teaspoons of soy sauce. It’ll add extra flavor.

As a native neighborhood of Osaka, I'm glad you like takoyaki. It is told most of people in Osaka and neighborhood area own the takoyaki cooking machine (per a family).

I can't believe you didn't have the most important thing for takoyaki: mayonnaise!! Trust me takoyaki is 10x better if you put mayonnaise on them (specifically Japanese mayo but I'm sure any kind would work as long as you like the mayonnaise on other things?)

Hey, Tim. In a lot of takoyaki recipes, they also add chopped cabbage, pickled red ginger, green onions and tempura scraps to the mix.

I had an exchange student from japan staying in my house and she used chopped cabbage and since I can't eat seafood we put cheese (Mexican cheese) inside, added mayo on top too and added soy sauce on the mixture. and also made a pancake version! Only with pancake mixture and fill them with strawberries

This is going to be such a weird comment, but these videos are the only thing that kept me sane when I had to bring my baby home for FACS. We take home a “Baby Think It Over” project. My baby would cry all night so I would watch your calming videos whilst feeding, burping, rocking her. They made the experience so much better...so thank you!

Takoyaki is one of my favorite snacks!! Adding more fillings drastically improves flavor, I also like to use shrimp instead of octopus. You can also have bonito flakes as a topping, and japanese mayo is also really good! (You can find that and takoyaki sauce on amazon). Takoyaki is a great party snack, its fun to make a lot of batter and set out a bunch of fillings and toppings, then have your friends customize their own and try to make them!

Love takoyaki. Also the green powder nori cooking mama used is called "ao nori" and it's a great addition to taking yaki. Also, for parties or guests, another traditional topping (not ingredient) is bonito flakes (fish dried, smoked and paper thin) when served on the fresh takoyaki, the heat/steam will make them wiggle slightly for a fun effect. I also agree with Kewpie Mayo.

In the Netherlands we use the same pan to make tiny pancakes, we call those 'poffertjes'. And we usually put icing sugar, sirup or sometimes even jam on them

Honestly, I think you should do a Cooking Mama 2 video series. That'd be great! This is really satisfying to watch someone to recreate a recipe from a cooking game that I grew up, and always imagined how one day I will taste those delicious looking fictional foods. They look very yummy to even not be made from anyone! Everyone should have a chance to recreate these recipes! What I'm also very glad about this, is when you calculated the correct measurements on how much of the ingredients you need in order to make a perfect, outstanding tasty dish.

I completely forgot that this was in cooking mama. Here in California, there are areas where there are a lot of Japanese business we call J-towns. In downtown, there's a place called Little Tokyo and a takoyaki stand opened up there. Unfortunately I haven't been able to buy it fresh from there, I only get store bought. Its spotlight seems to always be taken by the okonomiyaki business next door 😅

Have you tried any Harvest Moon: A Tale of Two Towns recipes? The recipes are incredibly vague, though, so I 100% understand if you don't do any of them. It just gives you a few ingredients and a cooking utensil.
