'Normal' peanut butter is really hard to find in Japan-- usually you can find 'peanut cream' which is like peanut butter but stupid-sweet and whipped up like icing or gooey and translucent like dulce de leche. I expect that's where the difference lies! Meanwhile I found a tiny bottle of real normal (but crunchy, ew) peanut butter at my local grocery store for like six bucks and I'm savouring it!

@@v1c4r10u5 actually, when making any nut butter (cashew, almond, etc.) it's just easier to use a liquid sweetener since it won't dry the mixture as much. When I make butters I usually have to add a tablespoon or two of oil as well, so white or brown sugar would just take too moisture out. I didn't know about the Japan part, though. That's pretty cool

Welcome back!! Using a higher powered processor or just processing your peanut for longer will eventually cause it to form a paste; no butter needed! Also, to control the salt level better, use unsalted butter. :)

I roasted my peanuts but had the same result. So it's the food processors fault. I also thought it tastes amazing. Jam helped to make it stick to the bread and not fall off😂

You just have to grind it forever! It should turn into a proper peanut butter texture, and that's when you know it's time to stop.

I think you just didn't blend it long enough. It takes a long time for nuts to be blended into butter. It usually goes from whole nuts>powder>tacky powder> ball> butter. I think you just stopped at tacky powder. I don't think it's the blender's fault unless he overheated. Try with roasted peanuts next time, the taste will be richer but I would omit the butter. I don't think it needs it. Good luck. Would love to see a follow up!

@@annabrown1569 We know that. But making actual peanut butter does involve grinding the nuts longer. That is the actual part he needs to play around and modifies behind the camera (like what he usually did for other recipes).

There's a section at my local grocery store where they have machines that grind nuts to make nut butters. No other ingredients, just ground-up nuts! Mostly peanut, but there's also almond and cashew to choose from. :o

peanut butter does not usually contain any butter. it should just be blended peanuts (with salt and sweetener if desired) but enjoyable video. happy to see you back (:

This is how mine turned out when I first made pb, warm the peanuts a little before blending to realese their oils easier, then blend them for 4-5 minutes and add some bland oil (I use sunflower oil) to get it to the right texture (I use about 1/4 cup for every 1 1/2 cups peanuts)

Welcome back good sir! I was kinda wondering why they didn't roast or fry the peanuts, as most of the recipes I saw usually call for oil of some sort - a recipe from Alton Brown suggested frying peanuts in oil to help with bringing out that roasted flavor, as well as help with getting a smooth texture.
