I loved Sumo ever since I was a little girl I told my mom I was going to marry a Sumo wrestler because I love how big they are. Well I never got my Sumo but I turned my husband into a big man and I’m just as happy. I just love Sumo
It would be great to see rikishi use much better technique when weight training. Yes there is functional movements but their keiko accomplishes that and practices matches. When weight training they need to focus on either power production with low rep 1-5 heavy reps per set or hypertrophy where they are trying to add muscle mass with rep ranges of 6-30. Full range with a deep stretch, controlled eccentric and athletic concentric. This is not targeted specifically at oshoma since i have yet to see proper lifting for any rikishi. They are obviously strong but they have soo much potential to be even strong with sound technique.
Oshoma is a wonderful young lad who I have had the opportunity to meet numerous times, and it makes me very upset to see people who have heard one unfounded allegation from a right-wing tabloid paper and branded him as being “evil,” despite not knowing anything about the rikishi and their close relationships at Narutobeya. First of all, the original article contained a blatant lie-that he has “no friends” at the heya, which is completely and utterly false. I have spent time with him and others from the stable and they are 100%, absolute friends. I have seen it with my own two eyes. Additionally, his stablemates freely like photographs of him on social media and spend time together, and I’m sure nobody is holding a gun to their head to do so. Why lie about such a basic, easily disproven fact? Maybe to get a few yen from a hungry tabloid paper? Secondly, he was not punished, penalised, charged, or found guilty of the allegations. The “victim” in the original story did not have his allegations corroborated by the other two rikishi who quit (they quit for unrelated reasons, including injury and having no further career in sumo. The article was spun to make it look as though three rikishi retired because of bullying, which was not the case.) Thirdly, the alleged “bullying” took place during practice bouts themselves-very easy to make a claim that someone targeted your injuries when you have to practice a naturally violent sport together. He was never accused of bullying or harassment outside of these practice sessions. Can we please think rationally about this, and not jump to such extreme conclusions when nothing has been proven? Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Can we please think about the effect of this on a young lad who is simply keeping his head down and trying to do his best? I’m also extremely disappointed in Midnight Sumo; encouraging viewers to actively boo for him, undermine him, and call him “evil” on the basis of what, exactly? These rumours have completely ruined his reputation outside of Japan, where even inside Japan amongst Japanese fans, people have started to realise that it was a false accusation. Please think before you speak and fan this fire further. I’m heartbroken to think what he must be thinking when he reads these comments.
Yeah, innocent until proven guilty. But since the victim quit Sumo because of him, the JSA doesn't investigate. Therefore he will never be found guilty for what he did. It's not the first time bullying happened at Naruto. And of all allegations of bullying in Sumo, has there ever been a case it turned out not to be true?
@@Lancorian I really hope that you read some of the details in my comment closely. He *allegedly* quit sumo because of him. Others say something quite different. Anybody who knows Oshoma personally knows that he is simply not like this. As I already said, the article already contained a blatant lie about him not having friends at the heya which could not be further from the truth. Why lie about something so easily disproven? Why lie about the real reasons the other two rikishi quit? This guy lies twice in one account and expects me to believe the rest? Why not recount the true parts instead of lying and undermining your entire story? It’s absolute nonsense and I would really hope people have some critical thinking about this. You are free to disagree based on the one thing you read, but I would kindly ask that without personal experience and relationships with many of these lovely folks, that you don’t spread further rumours when you already admit that you know it can’t be proven. @@Kireihana Yeah, it can't be proven when it's not investigated. Oshoma and Naruto are silent about it. That's obviously their tactics. Oshoma is the highest ranked wrestler in the stable. As a lower ranked wrestler you better pretend to be friends with him, otherwise you might be the next victim. SPT makes every wrestler and Stable look good. Same as it featured Ichinojo and his stable master. A few months later it turned out he injured the stable masters wife and he stopped talking to him. SPT would also have been able to make Hokuseiho look like a very nice guy even though we all know that he wasn't.
@@Lancorian Ichinojo’s stablemaster embezzled money from him, so there are two sides to every story. Hokuseiho was found guilty and no one is arguing with that. Absolutely love that you, a person who presumably have never stepped foot inside Naruto or met any of these young lovely lads, understands the whole story. Since you’re the expert, I’ll let you believe what you want and I’m dipping out from here. 😊

People are so unforgiving. Sure, bullying is fucked up, but can we at least consider the possibility that he might have changed? One tends to do so with time given. And I'm not saying that we should just forget about the incidents. But when I read comments like "don't promote him, he's a bullie"... ALL of us did stupid things when we were young, - give him a chance to display if he has learned and improved.
And also, Onokatsu is a prime example of a wrestler that should be in the spotlight. He also was on youtube before when he first entered the stable and the video is extremely popular with millions of views. I was so happy when I saw him make juryo. Onokatsu will be a Yokozuna and his English is fantastic. Hiro, how can I get in contact with you?

can really see the midnight sumo effect in these comments. unsubstantiated rumors from a tabloid by a disgruntled junior now seem to be fact for the western community. This is what happens when the biggest western sumo community (midnights) pushes said rumors and calls half the wrestlers evil
according to these people, half the banzuke is evil, JSA is evil, NHK is evil, tradition/routine of the sport is evil. and the only good people are those gaijin who petition to improve the wrestlers' welfare, decrease the height of the dohyo, put some mat around it, because they know better than japanese locals and the words from midnight and chris sumo are all true.

I love you Hiro... However, I would have appreciated this video more if you would have questioned Oshoma about the bullying scandal... the repeated hazing... and had him apologize on camera and explain what happened and how he has changed his ways. I am a former American football player, freestyle wrestler, and boxer. I was viciously hazed and bullied and now that I have grown up it takes a lot of strength for me not to take vicious revenge and be incarcerated in prison. They are not good memories. I hope that you will use this opportunity to ensure Oshoma has grown and understands what could happen.
I had good impresssion about Ohshoma watching this video.Then I read comments here and knew his bulling and I looked for articles to know what was there.What had happened.And knew Ohnosho,his character,damaged people by him.I have to say that was terrible.Now my good impression about him has gone.I have a favorite rikishi and next tournament in July he play in Jouryo, Makushita in the last tournament.

Onosato didn't bully anyone he went drinking WITH an underage stablemate, there's nothing about any actual bullying. Also keep in mind Oshoma being a bully came from just 1 guy at his stable, so make of that what you will
But you support spreading false news from far right tabloids. Looks at how hard they punished hakuho and hokuseiho. If there was any truth to oshoma being a bully it would have been dealt with firmly
@@Don_Rodrigo44 The fact that they treated Naruto-beya much more favorably than Miyagino-beya is quite literally the problem. Hokuseiho and Oshoma both did terrible things to other rikishi, yet only Hakuho faced any significant punishment, further proving that the JSA still has it out for Hakuho and is actively trying to derail his career at every turn. All that fans are asking for is equal punishment. Should Hakuho have been punished for his negligence? Yes, obviously. But so should Naruto-oyakata, Isegahama-oyakata, and the countless other stablemasters who condone or at least secretly tolerate hazing and bullying within their stables.

In a world where the more violent you are, you get paid more. There will be ways of “motivating” others that those on the outside would find rather brutal. 10 years ago you never would’ve heard about it. It just because everyone has a camera and is looking to push a narrative to grow themselves at other’s expense. Oshoma isn’t perfect.
