Fighting poverty is a worldwide effort. More so in China, where there are still more than 18 million people living in extreme poverty. Each of them has a story to tell and everyone has different reasons why they live in the poorest parts of the country. We traveled to the interior part of China, the southern part of Gansu Province, to meet with some of them and hear how hard they are struggling to overcome challenges to their quality of life. CGTN’s Tian Wei gets up close and personal with young student Xuelian and volunteer teacher Yu Qing from Baihe County in Gansu, and tells their stories of struggles and triumphs in fighting poverty.
