I enjoyed watching you and your dog walking through the snow and hearing your thoughts. 6:40 I also still have the Mele even though I don't listen to it very often. Although I really like the Mele's tuning, the music and details sound somewhat veiled in terms of crispness. The details are there. It simply is that the details are less crisply defined in comparison, for example, the Hola. Both of these IEMs are relaxing to listen to yet for different reasons. The Mele is relaxing due to its less crisp details, and the Hola is relaxing since the rise and peak for the simulated pinna gain is more gradual and since the peak for the pinna gain is pushed further up to 4 kHz region instead of the more common 3 kHz region. I really wish that TruthEar had not discontinued the Hola since the Hola is a relaxing IEM with crisper details in comparison to the Mele. Even though I have many IEMs, some of which cost more than $200, I still reach for the Hola when I am really tired or when I have developed listening fatigue. The Hola is one of my two favorite "chill pill" IEMs. My other favorite "chill pill" IEM is the Aful Magic One, yet only when used with Tangzu Tang Sancai Balanced eartips in order to equalize inner ear pressure since the Magic One is a non-vented BA IEM. The rough texture on the umbrellas of these eartips allows the inner ear pressure to vent and equalize when you insert these IEMs into your ears. Why is the Magic One a "chill pill" IEM for me? Because the BA driver softens the leading attack edge of drums and bass instruments, and because the BA driver adds a relaxing and ethereal quality to the music. The Magic One is the only IEM which I have ever fallen asleep to while listening to it when I was really tired. The Hola got me really close to falling asleep, yet I never did fall asleep while listening to the Hola. Thus I was quite surprised that I actually fell asleep while listening to the Magic One.
was checking the graphs on sets as you mentioned them, and realized the HBB graph on the new Ziigaat Cincotres has roughly the same pinna as the RSV, might be worth checking out. sort of an interesting bass tuning and has the "isobaric" DDs
If Z5 and N3 are still with you today, pretty sure you can tame that Treble heat. Especially the Z5. It has Potential with that 16mm DD and their 2 special BAs. I will eventually own both and let you know 😏
Mikey, i saw your chifi rant , which made take a rest from chifi and look at other sets such as sony iems in particular , have you tried any of these sony(s) Sony XBA-N3($260), MDR-EX1000($330), MDR-EX800ST ($160)? if yes how to they compare to the current iem market and are they worth purchasing over today chifi iems (all the prices are from ebay used units)
