This song literally saved me this morning. I woke up again with bad thoughts, and I didn't succeed to recover myself, until this song started! The beat got me dancing and now I'm much better!
Here is what I am doing. I really find this music a cure for depression. I take my cell phone - my iPhone has great sound. Lying on my bed I place the phone on my chest and put on the video. Don’t need earphones. Just the internal speakers. Dim the lights and go with the music. I am transported!! Just me and the flow of the song. My own little concert 😊
It's amazing isn't it. We are prehistoric creatures in the deepest levels of our brain. Before drugs, roller coasters, churches, sky diving, therapists, psychologists and cell phones there was only music to move our souls. It worked so well we never needed anything else.
I’m overjoyed I finally found it. I was trying to tell my great grandchildren about this and they’re going Nana Nana Nana and I said no watch that guy move and I couldn’t find the video.😅 my mind hasn’t been lost. Nana is losing her mind. No no no the video was just gone thank you thank you thank you you saved my reputation.😂 I was saying he always were really big clothes so he has had his teeny tiny so that you would look more in his dance moves man those ladies can move to can they don’t try copying you can’t do it
If she didn't dog the Creator, maybe Tina Weymouth might be more popular. She actually had the nerve to say David Byrne to form friendships. Maybe she should think about his mental and consider that he's a freaking genius.
This concert film (Stop Making Sense) is arguably Bryne and TH at their absolute peak in performance, art, creativeness and creativity. And this is a smoking performance, Bryne Completely In His Element -- on a cover, no less. Kids, look and learn - art simply doesnt get any better.
Some of the music that was cool back in my high school days !! We're talking 45 years ago and I still enjoy listening to it today!!!! I was a head then and still am today!!!
Same! I’m 68 and still know all the lyrics. Still have my oversized suit ala David Byrne. Talking Heads was cool as shit back in the 80s. And still are today. You must see the movie!
I wasn't there so.. what was going on with his pants? I could see the jacket as a prop but once he took it off... What happened there? Is there a video following this to "fill it out" the disproportional waist of the pants? Could you give me particular direction to a video, to this mystery to me?
Actually they've always been well respected and well rated,by fans and critics, were one of the original pioneering MTV bands, still get radio play, are now practically legendary, especially Byrne. :) You're right about them live!
I saw the Talking Heads in Gainesville, Florida at the University of Florida. The school would put on a free concert every Halloween for the students. I knew it was going to be a crazy but I just didn't how much debauchery would be everywhere. When I first walked in the field. I saw three guys 7:14 dressed up as nuns, standing on top of the concession stand and urinating off the roof with their num habits lifted up just far enough to see plenty. I was thinking about Dorothy in the wizard of Oz when she said that We're not in Kansas anymore. Lol😅
Incredibly,,, in A HUGE New Jersey dance club hall with a thousand people, literally a thousand looking for love, the biggest bars were vast, everyone huddled there already friday night🎉buzzed blasted to the moon. I mean juiced , and Panama Red had just made an appearance big time. Your directed own movie was now in widescreen technocolor. David Byrne comes out on a ways away little stage by himself. Me and only one other cute girl are there, he plays this, we dance our brains out together by ourselves all alone. It was a mind blowning unbelievable moment for us. When done his set, for just the two of us, he said, " Thank you very much." Sometimes life is truely madness, a joy, and whacked out bizarre. I do now believe in God. Thank you.
David Byrne has soul. I don't know where this guy learned to play music or who he was influenced by, but you can hear it in his music. Even in the cut that came with Windows XP.
Thanks to RU-vid for this!! I’ve known of this band , but only for a few songs. Now that I watched this particular performance THEY ARE A TIGHT AND FUNKY BAND!!! The drummer is kicking the band up the ASS!! Bueno!! Bravo!! 🤘🏽
Parliament Funkadelic ace Bernie Worrell is jamming with Talking Heads!! Their drummer is kicking them right up the ass!! INCREDIBLE! Didn’t know too much about this band, but after watching this I’m a FAN!!! 🙏🏼👌🏼✌🏽💪🏽🤘🏽
Once I was at a Huey Lewis concert, Neville Brothers opened. Huey did Take Me To The River in the encore and brought all the Neville Brothers out too and jammed for a good half hour. It was great. Talking Heads are still the best.
Pysco killer was the song that turned me on to alternative rock, i went out and bought talking heads 77, a totally unique and groundbreaking record, i can remember playing it for my freinds who at the time were still listining to elp, yes, and jethro tull. needless to say i got some weird looks when i started playing this record i still get a chuckle when i think about that, all those years ago, i cant believe its been 35 years.
Take me to the riiiiiiiiiver, too. good stuff good memories "take me to the river" Amy Manning...that where it be happening for real. Thanks Lucaas and Talking Heads!!!!Peace!
Today musical groups are "produced", sampled, overdubbed, and hypermarketed. This recorded performane of the Talking Heads stands as a tribute to incredible "Live", unsampled art - visually stunning - tight rhythms nice beat, great vocals, a killer performance.
I will always love the studio version of this song. It affected my emotions when it was newly released. And this movie, which I saw in a theater when it was newly released, with an audience who'd won tickets from a radio station, is mucho excellent as well. This version of "Take Me To The River" is lovable, just like the original one that they recorded.
David singt über die Taufe!!! Overwehlming und Wunderschön und Wunderbar!!! I am Michael Matthias Frohn Mühlstroh und Jesus Christus!!! Make my day!!! Do Something good for me!!! Buy me!!! Thank you for this music and masterpieces and Diamonds!!! 😂❤❤❤!!!
They are all good .David is it ?no question. i remember being in old town Alexandria with buddies tring to mimic david ?It was awsome and im still in touch with my still alive buddies from than.
Unparallelled or however you spell it! Genius!! You could play this 20 or more years from now and it would make perfect sense!!!! This group was the best thing o come out of the seventies bar none!
@GrantMascord I know you must be surprised to get a reply from me. Can you message me right away via gmail 📨, as I would love to know more about you, and what you think about me and the band?
