"Talking" KITT from Knight Rider 

Well put together and executed! It was hilarious! K.I.T.T. always did have a great sense of humor!

"The guy" in the background is me. And I'm not using a tablet. It's a custom made blue tooth feature integrated into the car and controlled via a smart phone. The car does have voice recognition, but the noise levels were too loud in that room. No one in there knew what I was doing though. :-)

@RodrigoMJ32 I remember visiting that same car in Hollywood. I grew up only 30 min from there in California. Use to go to Universal every year for my birthday throughout the 80s and early 90s. Memories. :-)

K.I.T.T. is the all time 80's classic TV character of all time from the 80's was voiced by actor/guest/voice Mr. William Daniels who originally provided as the voice behind K.I.T.T. that his name appeared was uncredited throughout all four seasons/90 episodes. The 1st season was a huge success and use to come on every Sunday nights on NBC for the first 3 seasons and later moved to friday nights right before Miami Vice in the 4th and final season. My Knight Rider fan favorites are Knight of the Phoenix (2 Hr Pilot), Trust Doesn't Rust (Debut of K.I.T.T.'s evil prototype K.A.R.R. was voiced by Peter Cullen), Goliath (2 Hrs.), K.I.T.T. the Cat, Mouth of the Snake (2 Hrs.) would later spun off as Code of Vengeance 1985-86 by Universal Studios TV, Goliath Returns (2 Hrs.), Knight of the Drones (2 Hrs), K.I.T.T. vs. K.A.R.R. (K.A.R.R.'s resurrection was voiced by the late Paul Frees appeared uncredited), Junk Yard Dog, Knight and Knerd and I like the two from the fourth and final season are Knight of the Juggernaut (Featuring soap actor/guest from Tyler Perry's The Haves and the Have Nots is none other than Mr. Peter Parros as Reginald Cornelius, III aka "RC3" joining the cast) and I like Knight Song with 80's R&B Pop Stars New Edition aka "Bell Biv DeVoe" & "Ralph Tresvant" guest stars and the episode was filmed on filming location out of Hollywood and it was filmed in Chicago, IL and filming for stunt sequences at Universal Studios, Hollywood and K.I.T.T. makes his singing debut!!!! (Laughing Out Loud).

He has the turbine sound effect and the boost sound effect, but at present time, they are controlled by his POD buttons, and not an automatic sound effect. It can get rather un nerving at times. :-)

I gotcha. I attempted that route before, and experimented with some really good voice recognition software as well. Ultimately, my Kitt has enough of the actual functions of the car from the show, oil slick, micro jam, smoke screen, etc......so I elected to use a blue tooth feature instead. It gives me more accuracy and timing control over a computer in the car. I'm actually trying to downsize the immense amount of wiring in him. :-)

There is a video on my channel here that demonstrates how they work. And yes, all function very very well. The video is called, "Knight Rider Kni1ght" and it's from March 2009. My micro jam isn't demonstrated in it due to the fact, it's not very legal. But it works off an oscillator circuit I built. It's tied into my micro jam button, and it won't stop a car, or crash a chopper, but it will turn any and all FM frequencies to static from 50 feet away. :-)

@dieglero Honestly, I couldn't tell you and exact dollars and cents answer to that question. Partially out of respect for your original question, since my means and methods for acquiring my KR parts were done mostly through third party individuals, and all the assembly work on my car was done by me. I didn't hire anyone to do anything to my car. I did all of it, for me, that was more exciting and more gratifying as well. The only "outside" work done by others to my Kitt was the paint. :-)

That's cool. I'm assuming you're referring to "Kitt Talk." I've used that before, but that's not what I'm using in this video. I use no software at all and no computer or laptop. He responds to me based on an interactive blue tooth setup that I assembled, and have been using for the last several years. The software interface was ok, but was not reliable. My blue tooth setup has a much greater accuracy in responding. :-)

@dieglero My tachometer, or "rev" meter as you call it is adjusted to a sensitivity that is dead on accurate. Even more so than the analog dial gauge. It's not going into the "red" because I'm not red lining my engine. The numeric readout and the arching bar graph count up times 10/ (X 10) I understand what you're saying....but my Kitt dash is fully functional and registers all my "real" gauges just as a digital dash would. :-) Peace man

@bentot188 The style of dashboard greatly effects your AC vent system. Mine does cover the vents, but still leaves adequate room for air flow around the dash. Which is an added plus too since the air helps cool the electronics on hot days. In the area near the stock head light switch, all you need to do is run a secondary duct to force air down, and it works just like it should. The other vents are fine since the TV section is outward from the vent. They aren't blocked. Mike

@DJCD01 Got my exterior of Kitt pretty much finished.

Here are some things MY car would say if it could talk. 1. I feel I should warn you, my body may be polarized. *Someone shocks him/herself by touching it*...Well I did try to warn you. 2. I swear, this bug deflector makes me look like I have a monobrow. 3. My driver's methods to modify me are crude, but at the same time effective. Try my new mirror signals. 4. Thank goodness my driver installed that back-up alarm. Now I don't have to worry about running back into things.

Well, most of people installs a computer into their replica. Then they use a custom voice recognition software.

I know exactly how you did it and how you explained it to me on the boards. Made a folder ... and some what I call hot keys so that you can just hit the hot key and it will trigger the saying you want... like your ethanol gas farts. :) Can't wait to get my Kitt out more.. done 2 events so far

@DJCD01 The voice recognition is primarily triggered by me via a blue tooth extender that communicates with Kitt's audio system. Think of Kitt as the puppet, I am the puppeteer, and the blue tooth device represents the strings. :-) And as far as bringing this stuff back out again.....well, so far, all attempts to resurrect Dukes and KR have failed miserably.....I say, they let it rest for what it was remembered as before they bury the shows any further. Just my thoughts. :-) Peace man.

Looks like you used your phone ap that you have setup to select the sayings... like you said..it works best for off the fly stuff even planned stuff. Don't have to worry with the voice recog software. So the kids love kitt? or kinda unsure of him. I know the Dukes of Hazzard is coming back on... atleast now they won't be calling my General Lee replica the #10 Race car from CARS. They need to bring Knight Rider back the same and have him on a standard cable channel rather than the special Order

@dieglero I don't honestly have an answer for you.....but I can safely say, that if you do it yourself.....you will probably be looking in the neighborhood of 20 to 35 grand for a nice KITT that you could be proud of. :-)
