I AM is the same name that God gave to Moses in the old testament. When the pharisees heard this they wanted to stone him because he was telling them that he is God. Also in the bible it says. Their will be a virgin who will have a son and she shall call him Emmanuel which means God with us. Jesus Christ is God with us. Jesus Christ also forgave sin. Only God can forgive sin. In the New Testament, God asks Mary to be his Jesus's mother, and Jesus, through the Tree of Death, aka. the Cross, ate the fruit of death and we gained Eternal Life. So basically, the doom of mankind started with a Man (Adam), a women (Eve), and a Tree, and Salvation started with a Man (Jesus), a women (Mary), and a Tree (Cross).

I was surprised that the evangelical community reacted so well to the movie. There is a very Catholic sensibility in this movie with its emphasis on Mary...
@@GraftedOliveBranch I know that. Thats exactly the point of me replying to the comment like dat to emphasize that Jesus is God and fully human. Hence the 'also'? I meant God is also human because of his mother Mary because Jesus assumed his human nature from her and hence is human because of her.

Polizei1945 DON'T ENCOURAGE HIM SERIOUSLY?!?!? "You should go to porn sites it would be better for you." Seriously? Wouldn't Jesus say to stay away from that?!?!?
From a narrative point of view, this is one perfectly executed scene. First, it show's Jesus as a regular man, avoiding that mystical philosopher trope, it adds a lot to the character. Tells a lot about his previous life, by making us see a humble yet clean house, a loving mother, a hard working man, but also show a lot by doing the opposite, not showing stuff... so now you know that his younger siblings are likely to be already married, Joseph has already past away, the household has a one single source of income. Then the music, using a traditional piece opposed to the grand orchestral symphony composed for the film, makes you instantly think of a bygone era, a simpler happier time. Then it cuts directly to the shot of the wounded character, making you as an audience member feel hurt, even if you're not a believer.
I feel like since he’s so heavily associated with religion and the gospel people forget he wasn’t this mythical being, he was actually a man who lived and had to endure these horrible things
Very moving, thought provoking scene. Jesus kissing and joking with his mother, Our Lady, making a table. She must have remembered Jesus as all mother's do, bathing him, feeding him, cuddling and caring for her child. Seeing him being beaten and humiliated was devestating for her

I loved this scene because of how Jesus is shown here, he was just a hardworking man who loved his mom. He's a human with feelings, we see him laughing, working, kissing his mom on the cheek. He was like us even if he's son of God. I like to see him like that, not only a serious holy man.
The choice to show Jesus’ flashbacks of his life as smaller more intimate moments as opposed to miracles he performed by is GENIUS. Highlights his humanity. There are so many interpretations/opinions/ versions of the Bible. But the Gospels resonate the most. IMO they are the most simple chapters but also the most straightforward and transferable to our own lives.

Has anyone noticed Jesus eyes ? He has blazing brown almost "golden" eyes...very unusual. I like how Mel did this movie in a such details. Also after crucifiction when He died an eyes are "golden" shining and pupil in his eyes is getting wider like in reality.
I'm glad that you uploaded this part of the movie -it's one of my favourites. It reminds us that Jesus also had a trade (a job!) and that we should pursue our individual calling in the work place to the best of our ability.
What gave you that impression? He had an important mission on Earth. Do you really think he would've devoted any of his time to working with wood and nails.
Where does it say that? It says he was the son _of_ a carpenter, not that he himself was a carpenter. Christians have _inferred_ that he was a carpenter following along the logic that 1st century Palestine followed some sort of caste system like the Hindus. By aged 12 he was already running away from home to teach in the temple, which his parents couldn't do much about. He was always destined to do great things, why would he waste his time with wood and nails? Or do you think he didn't study and learn anything at all, and that all the information he received was just channelled through him?
Logoguy7 in the movie Mary asks jesus for whom the table was made. Jesus says "for a rich man".. that is him definitely intending to sell it which makes it his profession/Business. If building and selling tables for money is his profession that says that he's a carpenter
If God can humble himself to become a man and die on the cross, then you should humble yourself daily. Can't wait to laugh and rejoice with Jesus and all his glory.
Jesus is not God. You will be able to rejoice with him though, if you accept him as Messiah and not the false doctrine of him being God. You must worship the same God that Jesus worshipped

@@Quemirabobo-sq6bj But its not what the Bible teaches. Your church will actually say 'the Holy Spirit is NOT Jesus, but both are God'. Your Church is lying to you. 'Above the range of human knowledge' is farce. Jesus preached the truth to fishermen, farmers, and the like. The Gospel is simple and beautiful. It starts to get confusing around the 2nd century when those embedded in Greek philosophy started to make things more complicated than they needed to be. This Hellenistic philosophy is rampant in many churches of this day, trying to hide the truth from its followers by complicating God to the point where he becomes impersonal. God wants you to draw close to him, and to get to know him. Jesus preached this, and taught us to reach out to the Father, who is his God. Worship the same God that was worshiped by Jesus. By worshiping a Trinity you are worshiping a different God than Jesus' God.
THank you for posting this clip of the movie! This has ALWAYS been my favorite scene (and the one where Jesus is a little one and He falls and Mary runs after Him, to comfort Him....a mother's heart....such love for her precious Boy.) But I love this scene because Jesus and Mary did have a normal mother-Son relationship...He loves His mother as a son does but also as her Creator! I have no doubt that Jesus and Mary had this type of closeness...this type of bond...and that they shared in good humor! He loved her as a son loves his mother and YET, as her Creator and Deliverer as well. And she loved Him as a mother loves her son and YET, as His daughter as well.
Gives me goosebumps thinking a God became a man, not the richest man in the world, worked on Earth as a man, felt hunger and thirst like any of us, and knowing he's God stayed humble, loving, and compassionate with people.
This scene is so wholesome and beautiful because it shows Jesus, our Lord and Savior, just living a normal life as the rest of us. He wasn’t always 100% serious and preaching. He was a hardworking man. He worked as a carpenter for a living. He had a good sense of humor. He loved his mother very much. I like how the writers portray him as being more human because Jesus was a human being and has all the characteristics and qualities as the rest of us, except sin. Thank you Lord for dying on the cross for our salvation. ❤

This scene of Jesus engineering His table reminds us of how He is the divine engineer of history, destiny, and salvation, for each of us, and himself. The table is a foreshadowing of the new Altar of sacrifice which the holy mass will be celebrated. In Luke Bethlehem was also called "the city of David" Jesus was also born from his line. “Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David. … But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for see - I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord'” (Luke 2:4, 10-11). It all played out perfectly....of course ;)

Always been my favorite scene. I truly believe we were allowed a glimpse of Yeshua's personality in this scene. The actor who played Yeshua said that his prayer was for people to see only the Lord not him. So I believe Yeshua honored that prayer and allowed us to see how is personality truly was when He walked the earth. Judging by what I see, Yeshua was always a busy Man, if He wasn't preaching, He was doing carpentry work. He was so focused He didn't notice is mother calling Him. I realize our Lord is not so up tight in personality, He actually looked quite playful and very loving. I used to always picture Him as the Man in the clouds waving His finger with a stern face telling me to do right. Can't wait for the new earth and for His kingdom to come down. I look forward to those thousand years of peace without evil. More than anything I can't wait to see Him face to face. God bless everyone.
Jesus, teach us how to love and respect our mothers as You loved and respected Your dearest mother, Mary. Mother Mary, pray for our mothers. Hail Mary...
