I used to mess with tallbirds in my creative worlds due to their raw power they possess. Now that Klei made things like this possible in survival, I really must say I'm a huge fan. Thank you for sharing this, I really think it's cool stuff!
This is a nicer and more compact farm compared to using like 30-60 bunnyman huts. I'll probably switch to this method but the main downside is how dangerous the birds can be.
@@WagstaffDontStarve i don't think having 20 of them is really good at the beginning of the game..... Not all players have 9999 stacks of planks and cut stone and most importantly bunny tails
@@jesuschaviel8446 "even the worst of boss designs" you don't need to cheese deerclops or bearger, bee queen without spamming pan-flute or using a ton of minions is impossible
I bet you can use one less pan flute charge if you use the bee queen hive to block the entrance combined with some walls and maybe statues like with the mant queen, just approach right before day so they're asleep but soon to wake up
For 20 smallbirds you'll need to feed them 40 seeds a day for 10 days. Then like, 20 meatballs or whatever food you're feeding them every day for 18 days which amounts to 400 seeds and 360 food items. Since you're farming for the seeds anyway might as well give then dragonpies. So I'll need to farm 360 dragonfruits, with 720 tomatoes for the combination and 360 other filler. One digamajig can give you 12 dragonfruit crops, or an average of 30 per harvest if you grow them to be giants. So with four digamajig you'll need three harvests. Yeah sure I can spend a spring, a summer and an autumn for farming the required food and growing those tallbirds. Not to mention the bundling wraps I'll need which I can only get from bee queen-unless I activate winter's feast.
This is amazing and really efficient but it’s really difficult to get enough tall bird eggs and raise them all up to adulthood unless you have a tall bird fortress and a healthy supply of food for the small birds since they can starve.
Well you don't have to raise 20 birds at once. You can always only raise a few and slowely build up your nest count around bee queen. You just need to take care of proper timing and it should not be a problem doing it that way
It likely wouldn't be that bad to be honest, most worlds spawn with 3-5 tallbirds i think. Kill them all, take the eggs, repeat the process 5 days later when they've respawned and laid new eggs. If you're dedicated it would only take about a season or two to gather the eggs needed for this. And given that this is likely a more lategame project you'll likely already have several eggs from regular play or the Lootstash before you even get started.....if you can resist the Tall Scotch Egg that is Raising them is a different matter ofcource, but if you've been farming a bunch or have a berry/stonefruit plantation atleast the food issue wouldn't be that bad
So I did the tallbirds vs bee queen fight in my one thousand days world, it went smoothly last time I fought bee queen. But instead hatching them I thought teleporting them to the hive to make new nests was a more durable option, I used almost a stack of purple gems and some of them were lured by walking, a few died along the way so be sure to clean out bees and spiders around the hive.
The worry isn't that queen bee will target the player, since tailbirds are fairly aggressive, the worry is that a tailbirds will deaggro for a moment then lock onto the player instead
@@achyif1 tallbirds lock onto whoever Is closest so majority of the time it would be beequeen it would be faster maybe not safer but it certainly is faster
This is a beautiful piece of madness! Have you tried relocating the tallbirds without hatching them? Since they can be relocated now you might be able to do it quicker if you have like a tall bird fort you can bring them from.
Its not that bad through crop farming, seeds are just mega plentiful and spoil so slowy. Like if you just grew pumpkin and potatoes you could get really far
Yo do you stream? Also I would like to see a solo min/max let's play where you progress in the shortest time possible. That would be awesome to watch and also I could learn some new stuff
It is a one time cost, as since they have nests, theyll revive if they die But yeah it is quite expensive. This will mostly be usefull to long term worlds/mega basers
@@BragoTHEgraviyKING I wonder whats more efficient. This or the usual rabbit hutch design? In comparison to those 2 , Winona catapults can get destroyed and Wickers tentacles same thing and make picking loot a lot more painfull .
You can also just switch characters to wanda alarming clock or walter with gold/ marble pellets to kill them all Or even try to make like a leading gate and surround with statues/ fossils and you can kill them with winona catapult just watchiut for walls😁😁
Don't believe this stupid clip :D. Trust me ! as player who played DST for about more than 2k hours, I can say that you cannot do this in the real game, unless you are cheating. This is not a good way. you need 10 days for rasing to teenbird and 18 days more for rasing to Tallbird (total 28 days no fighting :D). If there are hound waves or boss coming, all of your smallbirds (or teenbirds) are sure dead. Moreover, raising all of that smallbird to teenbird will need massive of seeds, berries, or meat. If you want to raise 1 smallbird to teenbird, you will need about 60 seeds (or 40 berries). But, just look at how many birds he has :D. This is nonsense. If you want to kill Bee Queen, just use Winnona. It will be much more easier.
