It feels like a huge dopamine rush in my veins. I never played Prime before, and I'm now understanding why this game is such a classical for FPS games, similar to how Goldeneye was for the n64 era back in the day. I'm so happy for this Prime game!
That moment when I first exited the gunship, looked around the rainy forest, dove into the murky blue water, asked under the waterfall, and scanned the different creatures for the first time, was magical. Rarely can a game ever get me this immersed into its world. And this was only two years ago as an adult who already played games on better hardware, and I still felt a sense of joy, adventure and childlike desire to enter this world in a way only a few games can. Happy 20th Anniversary, Metroid Prime!
had the same experience myself recently as well. played prime for the first time a few months ago, hopped out of the ship and was just looking around, then 1:53 played and my jaw hit the floor
@@Crunkmaster Man, it's cool to see that this game can still impress people with its atmosphere even today. Now just imagine how stunning that landing was for us back in 2002, when the graphics were like "holy shit 10/10" instead of dated crap you kinda have to squint at to make look decent. 😁
I felt the same way. I took my time in that game. It sometimes for me wasn't even about trying to complete it. It was just wandering the world seeing the flora and fauna, and forgetting the exploding flowers don't like you getting to close to them as you wander by. For something from 2002, they managed to pull off a game that sucked you in, and said "let's explore this together". I miss that game. I didn't get my hands on it until 2019. I don't have a way to play it anymore unfortunately. Sounds so odd to say something like this about a video game. To be in awe of this completely artificial world, to be disgusted as well as surprised at the lengths the space pirates would go to try and kill Samus and to alter themselves at their own people's cost. Don't even get me started on the Sheegoth. I'm 26 and for some reason that thing still freaks me out. I've seen alot of actually scary things in my life, but for some reason when the queen sheegoth rolled up unexpectedly, I got a cold sweat.
I got the remaster and played the game for the first time. Man, I just don't know how to describe it, magical, I guess? The rain, the flora of the overgrown ruins, the magmoor caverns, and the icy phendrana. It was all so immersive, the combat was good too, I thought it'll leave me running empty and bored but, I genuinely enjoyed it. I love exploring and scanning the environment, it wasn't overwhelming it was just enough to get me into this forgotten world. I dunno how much or how well I can describe it, but man, this is something I have missed, the joy of imagination, I feel like I'm actually exploring this unknown and forgotten world. To anyone who hasn't played it, please, do yourselves a favor... They were right, it was as good as they say it was.
@@michaeloffgrid same age, crazy to think I was already in my 20's and playing Metroid Prime the first time took me back to being 11 all over again the first time I fired up my SNES and Super Mario World. I remember watching Adam Sessler rave about it almost daily on X-Play and kept thinking "no way is it that good" so I finally went out and bought a copy, needless to say it was THAT good. Still top 3 gaming experiences ever.
This is such an amazing track one of those pieces of music that make you stop playing and just listen. Placing this at the start of the main game was just sublime.
Played this 21 years ago, and when I first heard this theme coming out of the ship, I knew I was living in the best era of gaming bliss. Gawd, what a heck of a time it was.
The level of immersion this game offers is insane and the soundtrack adds to that immersion. I won’t say much because pretty much everything has already been said about this game. I will say however the soundtrack is heat. It had me creeped out at times. It had me insanely hype at times. Other times it had me pondering the environment around me.
What a beautiful ost and game , the level of immersion of the 3 Metroid Prime is incredible, this game is insanely good. I can't wait to see what retrostudio will do with metroid prime 4
I still remember as a teenager playing this game, and Prime 2 and 3, and sometimes just stop playing the game for a bit but leaving the game unpaused for like 10 minutes just to chill back and listen to the music they all have.
I'm PUMPED for the just announced remaster of the masterpiece known as Metroid Prime for Switch! Of course, the ONLY way to play it is with a GameCube controller (which I plan to do)!
One of the most atmospheric pieces of music I have ever heard, SO GOOD I just started playing PrimeHack Metroid Prime on PC by the way. I really, really, REALLY recommend anyone watching this to check it out.
I remember when I was six first playing this game. The sense of wonder I felt isn’t something no other game has yet to capture. I’m hoping prime 4 can at the very least provide a new generation with the same sense of wonder this game gave me.
Prime 4 is being developed by woke americans, don't expect much from it. Dread was great becuase the team actually cared about Metroid. The people currently working at Retro don't, one of the lead developers thinks of samus as a "trans woman", let that sink in... All the legends that worked on Prime 1/2 are gone, have been for a long time.
@@Ridley1911 while I don’t agree with the idea of samus being trans I don’t think it’s a big deal if that’s how they think of her. Also why did you put trans woman in quotes? It seems like you’re transphobic. A trans women is still a woman regardless of whether or not you agree with that. But none of that matters because it’s just how that one person sees samus. It’s not like you have to see samus that way nor is samus herself gonna be changed in any way. Retro studios doesn’t own samus so they can’t change her anyways so you don’t even have a point you’re just upset because the people at retro studios have different views than you do and you’re judging them for it.
tbh it doesn't matter what the devs believe. the chances that even effects the game are so slim it isn't worth being concerned in any way. although I will say Ridley has a right to disagree with people's opinions. we all want to see a good new Metroid game after all!
Now I would be ok with a Metroid game with political agendas awkwardly shoehorned in. I would get a game with worse writing, but Ridley's (and his ilk) tears would be a sufficient consolation prize.
It's amazing how real the Tallon Overworld feels. You weren't merely in the hub world of a video game. It felt like Retro and Nintendo had dropped you into a living and breathing alien planet's ecosystem. The tangleweed that slowed you as you moved around, the small explosive blastcap mushrooms, the wandering spiny Zoomers and Geemers that would ignore you and only hurt you if you ran into them. The water dripping down your visor, the flashes of lightning and cannonfire that briefly illuminated Samus' face in your visor, the heat waves coming off your arm cannon if you fired it rapidly for a few seconds. Metroid Prime was the first time I'd seen that kind of attention to detail done on a console video game (and given I had been paying attention to gaming since the era of the SNES/Genesis and Wolfenstein 3D on DOS computers, this kind of attention to detail hadn't been feasible before), and it was incredibly immersive. It made you feel like you had been drawn through the TV screen onto the surface of Tallon IV.
So many memories flooding back. From sitting on the floor playing Metroid in the late 1980s with soggy cherrios in front of me to sitting on the couch playing metroid prime in the early 2000s with hard cold pizza sitting on the coffee table.... ohhhhh those were the days. I suppose it's time to fire upnthe switch and see if these games are available for download

Music for showering for me. I loved the feeling of the music and the sight of the rain washing down Samus's visor, iconic to a fault. Does anyone remember the game Datk Orbit? I know this came from a dif game but I associate it in my head for some reason
can you post a 30 minute extended video of the ambience heard in the Phendrana Drifts space pirate research labs, please? (not near the entrance, but that cold ambient wind/humming sound heard once further in) I used to fall asleep to that sound. :P
Awesome that you are uploading all Metroid Prime's extended OSTs. I hope Nintendo doesn't take your music videos down like they did with Official VGM and Brawlbrstms3. Try keeping them as non monetized so you don't give Nintendo a reason to take them down (even if they would still do it because it's Nintendo). Personal suggestions to upload, Tallon Overworld theme 2, Phendrana Drifts themes 1 and 2, Phazon Mines theme, as well as some of the boss battle themes like Parasite Queen, Omega Pirate, Meta Ridley, and Metroid Prime.
cant play the remaster/remake i think it looks soo shitty, compared to back then, for its time. i saw a fanmade recreaton of tallon iv in unreal engine and was so disappointed by the actual nintendos remakes look. but i know im comparing apples to gold here, if we talk about the grapihcal possibilities on nintendo products :x
