(I Know) It's Just the Same - Tally Hall (written by Andrew Horowitz) from the album Complete Demos. Please check out this band's current album, Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum.
@@lamb6549 they arent the same at all mate, like I mean I guess the synth keyboard is kind of similar and the vocals are similar but the rest is almost completely different, especially Andrew’s part and the soft ukulele/guitar thing at the end
I’m here because I was cleaning out documents and found a note from my earliest lovers. She recommended this song and, unfortunately, I only got around to listening to it now. How time ends up moving past.. I can see why she liked this song though.
Listening to this makes me really, really, miss these guys, even though I know they're still making music in some capacity. This is just such good classic Tally Hall.
after our new year party ended, i started my own 2024 by playing this song. this song is timeless, and will continue to age fine like wine. happy new year, everyone.
hello everyone, i just turned 18. my first day of college just ended and i'm in my dormitory, laying down in bed and about to fall asleep. tally hall is such a special band to me, and it's unarguably the only band i'll ever fall in love with. i've got nothing else to say. good night.
I have such a strange fondness for this song. Even though it reminds me of a 60s American prom, I actually mostly associate it with France. In October 2016 I went on a school trip to paris and i didnt realize I wouldn't have data to listen to music on the bus rides around the city. All I had were the 2 demo albums and I think that one song Rob did for intel. I listened to this song on repeat, along with go, and they're still my favourite tally hall songs to this day. I just remember a completely peaceful feeling on that bus, looking at all these new surroundings. I'll be going again in 2019 or 2020 and I'm making sure that I have the two demo albums on my phone, even if free eu roaming is a thing now. This song means so much to me because of that trip.
python101 lol just saw this now, completely forgot I even commented on it. My French teacher just didn’t tell our year group that she was doing sign ups for the French trip so my entire year missed out on the trip. It’s happening next week and I ain’t goin lol, I’m going to Derry and Belfast in December if that’s anythin tho 🤣🤣
(I Know) It´s Just The Same is a song about a guy reluctant to ask a girl to dance, and questions if his feelings are true or just a one night feeling. The song pays homage to 1960’s ballads with its instrumentals and lyrics.
if they make another album they gotta put this one on it. it doesn't fit well into their other two albums but on another project this needs to be officially released and mastered. beautiful song
now that i listen to this again i really think this was the inspiration for rob's "lonely but not alone" i get that this was written by andrew but who knows. they've got similar concepts and i think they have the same chord progression
lyrics: If I could go back to last night at the dance I'd ask you to dance with me If I could approach you for your number I would call you as soon as I got home The first time I saw you, I saw you My heart fell to pieces The first time I imagined being closer It could have happened Last night I had my chance (ooh, ahh) To hold you in my arms and slowly dance (ooh, ahh) But I couldn't ask you at the time And I know it's just the same (oh, oh, oh, oh) And I feel it's just the same (oh oh, oh, oh, oh) And I know it's just the same (oh, oh, yeah) And I feel It's just the same I forgot what it feels like To feel something good I remember now I don't care if some other guys in your life I hope you could love me Last night I had my chance (ohh, ahh) To hold you in my arms and slowly dance (ohh, ahh) But I couldn't ask you at the time And I know it's just the same (oh, oh, oh, oh) And I feel it's just the same (oh oh, oh, oh, oh) And I know its just the same (oh, oh, yeah) And I feel Will I adore you on a Thursday night Will I remember you on Saturday And I'll just think of all the time And I know it's just the same (oh, oh, oh, oh) And I feel it's just the same (oh oh, oh, oh, oh) And I know it's just the same (oh, oh, yeah) And I feel
andrew is such a musical genius. if you want something solemn, something that hits deep right in your soul, andrew takes place. on the other hand, if you want something crazy, something that would make you feel heard, joe takes place. both of them write such good songs.
@@fugedorjack stauber has his own style and so everything he makes falls under that style. tallyhall's range of musical genres and styles is very diverse and most of the songs sound very very differently, almost like they were made not by one band. that is also because every member of the band (except ross) was writing songs for tallyhall on their own, so by the sounding or lyrics of the song you could guess who wrote it.
Genesis, maybe? they’re older (all of their albums were released from 1969 to 1997), & all of their stuff would fall under either progressive rock, progressive pop, pop rock, or all three, but all of their albums have a very different sound to them
Honestly, Tally Hall was a such a great band. It changed my life, because I was suffering from depression and I have leukemia. One time I started to listening to Tally Hall and I've never regret it, I've watched the internet shows, concerts, music videos. It was fun to watch. If you're looking for something that makes your day a slight better. Listen to Tally Hall.
I never comment on RU-vid videos, but there's something about this song. I used to listen to it alone in my room, a bored 15 year old. Now I'm out on my own and tomorrow, this song will be playing when I tell this perfect girl how I feel.
Even now in 2023 i think tally hall is a unique experience of a band , and that no one could ever replicate that just truly amazing feeling by listening to every song. I just wish they would come back together as a band so i wont have to cry myself knowing theyre last concert was 12 years ago.
I also think that this song is (unknowingly) a metaphor for tally hall as a band today and that with the right circumstances that tally hall could've been active today, but with everyone wanting to pursue their own dreams and because of joe hawleys actions it just couldnt be. And that the tally hall community thinks about tally hall a lot and even if they come back or not they will still love the band forever. I just hope the best for every band member and every person in the tally hall community.
Don't think of it as shame from missed oppurtinities, think of it as a learning experience, we all have stuff like that happen in our lives, some of us more than others
There’s this guy I like that introduced me to Tally Hall back in the fall. I’m obsessed with the band’s music now, of course. This song somewhat describes how things were back in the fall before the two of us started talking more. I absolutely love the doo-wop style of this piece.
There’s something so sullen and solemn here. It’s like a beautiful sorrow. I haven’t looked at the lyrics but I imagine it’s someone dying, reminiscing of their lover…unable to see them for one last time. They’ve gone through much together and it’s over without a goodbye, but there’s something triumphant about being able to think of that special someone as the life leaves them. And beyond that there’s something more beautifully sorrowful here, something I can’t put into words. I’m just gonna cry here for a bit.
This song reminds me of a time in my life with a love that was lost to circumstance. We just never found the right time, and I’ll spend the rest of my life wondering what could’ve been.
If you spend the rest of your life wondering what could have been, you won’t be able to live in the present. You’ll be stuck in the past and won’t be able to move on. It’s not the end of the world, there’s other chances you will have.
Every couple of months for the past while I come to this video just to read the comments, stories from people all around the world I’ll never know, shared by a old ass song by a old ass band. I love this song, I love listening to it. As someone who recently missed their chance with a crush last week this hits a little closer to home, more than it already did.
This song somehow makes me incredibly sad. Missed opportunities are super scary. Now I read all comments on this video and for some odd reason, that makes me feel better lol
Just had a dream my crush confessed his love to me with this song and then I woke up and it felt so real and I had to hear this song for the first time in a while and it hits very hard now
I hope someday we get all unreleased tracks onto an album, even if the band doesnt get back together they had tons of unreleased music we’ll never get to hear.
guys di not listen to this song when you are emotionally weakened or rlse you will feel the urge to bite your device & now i have to gey a new screen protector i dont even think i have any on me oh. Heavens dud e why did i bite my phone. This song is verygood
For anyone who wants to play this song on their own, I have figured out the chords C Am Dm G -for the intro and verses I'm not sure about the other transition chords though
Andrew is just thinking about hitting the pinata, Joe don't even know about the pinata, he woke up like that and is thinking about the time, Zubin and Ross are celebrating because… yes. Rob is still searching for the pinata.
It's been years since I first heard this song and I still come back to it every now and then. It's oddly comforting going to the comments and seeing the same ones from years back.
"current album" i am fucking CRYING edit: listening to this again the day matthew altruda told us the tallies have all met in-person for (presumably) the first time since 2011. holy SHIT
i like reading the comments talking about people falling in love bcos of this song. love is a very beautiful thing especially when you see two people experiencing it together
@@gamingbatonrayalmighty1729 I spent the year after making this comment slowly getting to know Tally Hall and its members better and I have to say you are absolutely right.
@@anactualbird6801 this comment you made is one of the very few that wasn’t bombarded with “Tally Hall Stans” saying “WelL ACTUALLY ThEsE HunKs ArE TaLLy hALl, hAhHahahHah aNdrEw, RosS, RoB, ZUBES (LolOlOlOllL), and JoE OOmG So HoT!”
I found this in my recommendations while listening to some of their incomplete demos, and I think it’s safe to say this is my new favorite Tally Hall song. I hope someday that they will come back.
