Both are fantastic feeling endings to the album but I gotta say 2005 hits me a lot harder with that ending, just gives me more chills for some reason when I finish the whole album on 2005
@@briang.2218 That song is NEEDED to get the complete Hawai'i Part II experience. It pisses me off when someone post Hawai'i Part II just to leave it out lol.
Most modern remasters adjust the levels of everything to be very loud, and drown out a lot of nuance in the music; this is more like what mixing used to be like
Fun fact, the original first verse was: In the Gallows, or the Ghetto, In the Town, or the Meadow, In the Future, Even over the Sun, It can never be stopped, If it hasn't begun
Well, yes and no. The 2004 demo version has different lyrics as well, and while the earliest live version has the lyrics you put, it came out the same year as the 2005 version, so it seems they were still working on the finalized lyrics even then.
The post chorus also used to be: Number your thumb Impossible sum of the monkey-fist hung on the vine Organizm assembly line Everything's gonna be fine play pretend
It's almost like interpolation with animation. How AI turns animation into 60 fps and it kind of slurs and smudges thing together. Not to say this one's bad, I love them both
HOW CAN A SINGLE BAND HAVE SO MUCH LORE AND HISTORY TO IT???? THAT’S NOT EVEN COUNTING THE STUDIO AND DEMO VERSIONS LIKE YOU GOTTA DECIPHER THEM FIRST AND EXPERIENCE IT AT FULL AND THEN LISTEN TO THE BAND MEMBERS’ OWN WORKS AND PINPOINT WHAT STYLES YOU NOTICE OMMMGGGGG TALLY HALL IS MY FAVORITE BAND EVER.
Becoming a Tally Hall fan is the process of slowly decaying into madness tracking down every single song or demo each member or any combination of members ever created in the woodwork of the internet.
Its been three days. Ive descended into madness. Listened to everything the band and the members have made. Ive deciphered the entire discography. I havent slept since i discovered them. I think its too late. Ive joined the dark side. I love it
it is faster, if you play them side by side they will eventually desync. the videos probably just longer because of the silence/waves after the song is over
I think back in 2008 there was a video with this version, I'll link if I can find it Edit: found it ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-19S-E_I5y7E.html
@DINO LIHARI because tally hall is important and you scream important things therefore I must take in as much air as I possibly can and yell directly at your face to emphasize the importance of tally hall and their songs.
The 2005 versions are just better because it focuses more on the voices rather than the instruments, like in Banana Man 2005, Joe harmonizes with himself so much and in my opinion it's way better than the final version.
I really like how sometimes the voices are on different headphones, i dont know if it was on purpose but I like it I like both this version and the final version, definitely some of my favorite spngs
1:36/1:39 I love this part of the song! It sounds like the singer had a freaking shugar rush out of no where and the rest of the band just goes along with it really catchy! :D
I remember illegally downloading this song and other earlier versions of songs before I listened to the originals and I secretly love the earlier versions! God but this band is such a treasure.
The thing I love about ruler of everything is the volume joe hawley uses when he says “in the gallows or the ghetto” etc. In this version he definitely says it with more volume and I love it
I actually prefer the final version of the song because in this version the mixing kinda sounds like all the instruments were just thrown on top of eachother. Its still good song either way.
I’m studying music and do a lot of production and you’re totally right the mixing is really odd and rough in this track, can’t even hear the vocals sometimes
my guy really just said do you hear the fibbity jibbity jabbar with a oh no i gotta get outta here or ill have another world to sell another story to tell another time piece swinging the bell do you hear the clock stop when you reach the end oh you know you'll never be able to comprehend but when you try to pretend you resemble a fool but your only a man so give it up and smile
A few mistakes, it’s “do you hear the flibbidy jibbidy jibber jabber with another ‘oh my my god I have to get out, I have another word to sell another story to tell’ another time piece ringing the bell, do you hear the clock stop when you reach the end oh you know you have to try to comprehend if you can but when you try to pretend to understand you resemble a fool although you’re only a man so give it up and smile,”
I don’t like how solid this version feels. I like the slightly uncomfortable, dream like sound of the official version, and I feel like that dreamlike quality really works to emphasize the more abstract aspects of the lyrics. Part of what I love about the official version is how surreal it sounds, and you just don’t get that feeling in the same way with this version
theres a 2005 version?????? 5 seconds in and im noticing differences in the tempo and tone, along with the different pacing and volumes of different aspects
When I listen to the normal song I just feel like evrithing is under control even if the world is colapsing and this version made me feel even better. It's just good to think you are the ruler of everything for a moment.
I have no idea why but this one just hits me so hard for some reason. Like it’s just such a beautiful way of conveying the end of the album (besides hidden in the sand which I don’t usually count), like idk what’s with this version but when I listen to 2008 it gives me more scratchy messed up vibes but this one just feels so smooth and the vocals just sound beautiful and clear. I get why some people prefer the messed up 2008 version but this just sounds like such an amazing ending to this amazing album, 2005 gives me chills man, not sure how but that closing at the end of the song hits different
@@joyest_day4068 He addressed the accusations on his Instagram in the comments of a post. (It was deleted later after) He kept it short and simple and in quotes that he privately talked to someone via DMs about the situation (Most likely Rob or Ross cause they were the ones who were trying to help/teach Joe on Trans issues). He then quotes in the same comment "No, I'm not Anti-Trans". If you need a link, I can provide a link to the post with the comment screenshot.
the people who say this is better clearly havent listened to the modern version as much as me, i am in a rubber room due to this song and i will not be leaving
The main differences: -The 2008 one is slightly slowed down. This is more noticeable with headphones, while the 2005 one is normal. -The “In the gallows” bit seems more echo-y. -It seems like the drums are louder. -Zubins vocals are completely different in the “do you like how I walk” part then in 2008. -Also, the second bit of the bridge is far more filtered, almost Taken For A Ride-like.
Juno was mad, he knew he’d been had: so he shot at the Sun with a Gun. Shot his one Wily Friend. In the Gallows or the Ghetto, In the Town or the Meadow. In the Billows, even over the Sun. Every end of a time is another begun. You understand, Mechanical Hands are the Ruler of everything. Ruler of everything. I’m the Ruler of everything in the end. Do you like how I dance? I got zirconium pants! (Consequential Enough to slip you into a Trance) Do you how I walk? Do You like how I talk? Do you like how my face disintegrates into chalk? I have a wonderful Wife. I have a powerful Job. She criticizes me for being Egocentric (Oh hoho) You practice your mannerisms into the wall. If this Mirror were Clearer, I’d be standing so tall! I saw you slobber over clovers on the side of the hill. I was observing the birds! (Circle in for the kill.) I’ve been you, I know you. You’re facade is a scam. Y’know you’re making me cry. This is the way that I am. I’ve been livin’ a lie, a metamorphical scheme! (Detective Brotherhood Objective: Obscene) Oh no no, Oh yeah! Do you hear the flibbity jibbity jibber jabber With an, "Oh my god I've got to get out of here or I'll have another Word to sell Another story to tell Another time piece ringing the bell" Do you hear the clock stop when you reach the end? No, you know it must be never ending Comprehend if you can But when you try to pretend to understand You resemble a fool Although you're only a man So give it up and Smile Do you hear the flibbity jibbity jibber jabber With an, "Oh my god I've got to get out of here or I'll have another Word to sell Another story to tell Another time piece ringing the bell" Do you hear the clock stop when you reach the end? No, you know it must be never ending Comprehend if you can But when you try to pretend to understand You resemble a fool Although you're only a man So give it up and Smile You Understand, Mechanical Hands are the Ruler of everything. Ruler of everything. I’m the Ruler of everything in the end. Without looking down. Gliding around. Like a bumbling dragon I fly. Scraping my face on the sky. Oh no no, oh yeah.
This song gives me the vibes of "God trying to lightly explain to you that the hot goth chick you hooked up with killed you in your sleep as a sacrifice"
i can definitely hear the layering differences in this each thing being placed individually on here while played more together on the 2008 version andrew mentioned this in a 2020 interview and i didn't notice it until now
It looks like before the final release they were experimenting alot more with the vocals on where they are put in stereo, with vocals that are hard panned (only set to play on one earphone). The drumming arrangement is also completely different, they likely redid that entire intrement for release. The final obviously is slowed down in a way that I believe is trying to emulate the sound that doing so gave the charm to songs like Strawberry Fields Forever by The Beatles.
Alright, so we have Live version (Megaphone distortion only), 2005 (Megaphone, other VFX), and 2008 version (Tons of effects, somewhat better octave choice).
