Books gave me unrealistic expectations of what the rest of the library was like. Nothing can match these books though. Have read 70 or 80 more since reading these first last year and these just hit different. From the numeral slaves and the get the life below decks and their Stockholm Syndrome,and the thrill when you read the word PreySight and know that it's about to get real.

So glad you paid homage to my boy Talos. I honestly hated the Night Lords and found them generally cringe AF until I read this trilogy. Now I love them but only the "Talos" warband lol hopefully we'll get continuation of their arc with his "heir"

i doubt it can fit into 40k canon, a newblood night lord uniting the 8th, it should be impossible, the old high ranking officers could not do it. Only Kurze and Sevatar could ever make it happen imo.

This is brilliant, great work as per usual. I quit 40k in 4th edition and never expected I would return. Then I read the ADB trilogy and it re-ignited the fire. Characters like Sev and Talos are so interesting to me, your channel does them justice.

It's amazing that a traitor can be favored and loved by so many in this setting. I have completed the omnibus at least 5 times now and I tear up every time, but listening to you my friend, really stirs up the emotions. Talos Valcoran, the Prophet from Nostramo, traitor, whose life and subsequent death will forever be remembered, by those who know his tale. Thank you, brother.

Thank you for this amazing video Amber King! Talos has become one of my favorite 40k characters ever. Though I'm a loyalist at heart, the Prophet's story in the Night Lords trilogy is so darn compelling! The Night Lords became one of the most fascinating traitor legions in 30k especially Sevatar, and their 40k story with First Claw was so compelling. So many layers indeed! And man, Uzas' fate is so heart wrenching... Talos is still a traitor and a monster, and I feel his final fate goes to show that even the traitors don't have "good endings" in this grim dark universe. In some ways, his story is definitely tragic. ADB was a genius making this trilogy and I agree completely with you about how Talos is built up maybe like an anti-hero, but ther third entry reminds us he is very much a villain. He is a monster putting the teachings of Curze to practice. And fate simply caught up to him after his many sins. Great summary of the trilogy and thanks you once again @TalesOfTerraVA for voicing the character so well!

I wonder why ADB wrote Abaddon so differently in the night lords series vs the black legion novels. When speaking to Talos hes directly written as a poor leader with little charisma for winning the loyaltys of other traitor marines. In the legion novels hes a chad. Seems a bit strange

Tbh I think it's down to the fact he's just a Nightlord. Abandons Charisma works on other Traitor astartes because on some level, once upon a time they were all brothers who fought for honour. The Nightlords however have, are, and always will be literal scum. They are cowards at heart. They've never fit in with any of the Legions. If anything Abby is probably just better of just purging them tbh because thier more of a liability to the cause than the bloody Alpha Legion. XD

I like to think talos forces himself to remember the day he walked on notrasmo. The day he unknowingly, and rather uncaringly let his mother be killed. As if its the least he could do. He wanted to be a hero, for his himself, for his mom, for his world. Just like the shot that ended his mother. It ended whatever chance he had of redemption. So he remembers

The fact that there are likely quite a few chaos marines that go into battle against imperial forces thinking that the heresy ended only months or even days ago, is endlessly fascinating!
