In this video Nick D'Virgilio is demonstrating the Tama Silverstar Mirage 5-piece Drum Kit. I have a soft spot in my heart for clear acrylic drums because they just look so cool on stage. You can get very dramatic with the look of your stage set up with a kit like this and that is definitely something to think about when looking for a new drum kit that you plan on performing with.
Not only does this Tama Silverstar Mirage drum kit look cool, it really does sound great. The drum shells all come with precision-cut bearing edges which really help to get a nice tone. The kits comes with 7" x 10" and 8" x 12" rack toms, a 14" x 16" floor tom, a 6" x 14" snare drum, and a 16" x 22" kick drum.
The hardware that comes with this kit is sturdy and well made. The rack toms come with Tama's Star-Mount suspension system to let the toms hang freely and resonate, and you get two Tama Fast Clamps to attach them to cymbal stands. There are low mass lugs on all of the drums that also help to not choke the drums and add tone. You may not put much thought into kick drum spurs but Tama has, and the spurs that come with the Mirage kit are great in my opinion because of how easily adjustable they are and all of the angle options you have. The hoops that come with the kit are wood but the claw hooks that hold the hoops onto the kick drum are all rubber lined, which is a fantastic feature to help keep the hoops looking good and scratch free.
