I hope so too. Though I don't know who I am kidding- I will end up buying all the versions of this once they come out. But for those of you that don't want to buy a new version every few months I hope they have updates for it!

You're welcome! I had a lot to say in this video and I didn't want it to get too long, but yes I agree with your point on the colors and thought about mentioning it during this video. Pink and Purple have been the go to release colors at least in the US for many years, but I think that it's time they branch out a little bit and put in some color options that someone who doesn't like pink and purple could enjoy as well. The FCC filing does outline 10 different versions of this device, so I'm hoping we will see a few late cycle colors come out around Christmas time like we did for the Pix. I would love a blue or a green version of this! Also I am sorry that people make comments about your pink Tamagotchi. I would have hoped that in 2023 people could get over distinguishing colors as "girly" or "only for girls".

I think at one point I wanted an English release of the Smart but I played it SO much over the last two years that I am really excited that they went in this direction.

37 here. I used to have those originals only back in the day. Bought a gen 2 one a few years ago for nostalgia.🥰 This be my first modern one.

@@Cynalie Yes! Back in the late 90's I had a couple of Tamagotchis and a couple of Nanos. Those were the days! I'm excited for you to try a modern Tama. They are quite amazing. Stuff only our younger selves could have dreamed of :D

I hope so too! The Smart had a fairly short battery life so I would like to see some improvements with this one.

@@JillGrygas to be fair. Once somethings rechargeable the battery life decreases exponentially

Good to know, I didn't mess around with the clock faces too much. Did your step count have an impact on any of the games in the Smart? I didn't think so, but I haven't played all the cards yet!

@@JillGrygas no I think it was just a little feature since it was a watch and was meant to be like smart watches.

I noticed that with the official announcement there are a lot less people complaining about the design than when the leaks came out. I can't wait to see what colors they come out with next!

Yes focus on how much fun you will have with your daughter when the Uni comes out! I had a lot of issues with my Smart too trying to get it to restart after letting the battery die, so I definitely see your concerns here. I am hoping they took feedback from the Smart and made this one better!

@@JillGrygas yeah, bandai is pretty smart. They do switch things up as things go along. My only problem now is July 15 is so far away 😂

Yeah I'm curious what the plan will be for different color shells. Pix came with blue and green later in the year it came out, so maybe we'll see something new around holiday time.

Tamagotchi On and Pix were carried by Target, but you are right not enough stores have them. Hopefully the Uni stays safe in our mailboxes this summer!

I didn't want to complaint too much in my last few Pix videos, but lately the touch buttons have been driving me nuts. I keep failing the games because it's not registering that I am doing anything. So frustrating! But yes, I agree that I think many of us will be using this for a long time like we did with the On.

You are definitely not the only one. I saw a lot of comments from people not liking the shell design. We think they were going for that 80's and 90's vibe but not everyone liked that style lol.

They are color now!!! Or you can continue to play the old pixel ones as they are making the Gen1 and Gen2 re-releases all the time and Tamagotchi Nano which is a small version that has different collaborations like Baby Yoda, Toy Story, and Hello Kitty!

I hope they made improvements to the battery too! It was too short on the Smart. It felt like I was constantly charging it!

unfortunately, i do not think it will. the fact that they added wifi functionality means that its gonna munch the battery a lot faster. at best, it's battery life will be the same.

I'm just so obsessed with it!

Yes it is my understanding that they will be programmed with multiple languages like the Pix was, only this time Japanese is included. The Japan box is really pretty :)

It is a rechargeable battery so I don't think you can replace it.

@@JillGrygas It is bad news for those of us who collect Tamagotchi, when the battery deteriorates it will not work like the other Tamagotchi that have long-lasting batteries, I have the first version from 1996 and it works perfectly.

Hi! It's a global release so I would hope that UK Amazon would eventually have them. They are coming out later than the actual Unis are, so maybe they are waiting to post them? I hope you get the straps and lanyards they come with items for your Tama!

I actually managed to get my hands on the Uni early thanks to a popular chain toystore over here breaking release date, I'm not sure if they're allowed to do that honestly but it's happening lol. Anyway I asked about the accessories and they said they aren't expecting anything just the base Uni units. I had no idea the straps and lanyards were been released later that actually makes sense now I'll just wait and see what happens if we don't get them released over here I suppose I can always import them. For now though I'll just enjoy my pink strap as it doesn't look as bad as I thought tbh still not really my style but it'll do for now haha ^_^

You shouldn't need to get 2 if you are able to connect to wifi! The TamaVerse will allow you to meet characters that your Tama can marry :)

@@JillGrygas Yes but that didn't stop me from also pre ordering the pink version on Amazon haha. I love that it requires no batteries. Also two Tama Pix parties are on the way. Should arive next week. I never had a color screen Tamagotchi. I joined the party late.

Yes, I read there is a glitch that was happening. The game said you were getting 300 points but you were actually getting 600 when you looked at your points in the menu. I think the latest update fixed this.

I do too! Blue was my first choice when the Tamagotchi On came out and I was sad when it wasn't a release option for the Pix either. Maybe we will get one later this year?

Wow 20 years! That is very exciting, I didn't realize this was going to be in Brazil too. Yay! But yeah- I do have some reservations about them selling us a bunch of stuff so that we can get more items for our tamas. I'm hoping in this Tamaverse we can trade items so that people who don't want to buy a bunch of stuff don't have to.

@@DiegoPrs ​​⁠ I pre-ordered one, but I have the same concerns you do. As great as the features sound, I have to be honest… the shell design is hideous. It looks like Fisher Price designed it. But my biggest concern is about the wifi updates. I’m more than happy to receive new items, characters, or features that way, but anyone with a Nintendo device also knows how the wifi feature can be used against us to push firmware updates that PATCH the exploits that make it possible to mod our tamas. Maybe I’m just skeptical, but after YEARS of Bandai not being able to stop us from modding our tamas with English patches, custom sprites, and custom content, etc, I’m thinking this wifi feature that allows them to push firmware updates might be their *true* reason for adding that feature. And disguising that fact behind the prospect of us getting exciting new content from it, so our focus is on potential new content instead of what I just mentioned. I hope I’m wrong. I hope it’s only used for giving us new content. But I’ve been around long enough to know how these companies (bandai, nintendo, etc) hate having their products being modded, and will go to great lengths to prevent it. With the Tama Smart, Bandai wanted us to pay MONEY just to add new sprites and toys, and people were literally downloading the .bin files and making their own smart cards for free. Make no mistake. Bandai wants to make money on additional characters and content. If they didnt, they wouldn’t have made 18 SmaCards at $12 a piece (original retail). That’s over $215 USD just for the cards alone, not even counting the Tama. So yeah, I’m a little suspicious of the wifi and how the added content will be implemented with this one.

I'm really hoping they have downloadable characters like the Smart had extra characters with SmaCards.

You are right there are plenty of places that won't have Wi-Fi. The good thing is that even without Wi-Fi you should still be able to play. You just won't be able to connect to the TamaVerse. You should still be able to play with your Tama on long car rides!

@@JillGrygas I skipped the BE after not enjoying the VB. The color devices are ok, but the limited rosters and no connectivity really killed the feeling of it being a new device. Feels 30 years old. Hoping for great things in the future though!

Yes they have been marketing the Tamagotchi brand to kids for years, but that doesn't stop collectors like myself from buying them :)

As a long time fan of Pokémon I can say I fully agree with you here. I MUST collect them all! I love raising all the different characters. Gene mixing was fun, but I'm also glad it's not coming back this time around. I like this throw back feel of Tamagotchi Connection with marriage that doesn't mix genes and raising different characters.
