Just because someone is “famous” doesn’t necessarily make him a role model. THAT is on the people who follow her and copy her. I am not a Kardashian fan, I don’t follow any of them, it’s just not for me. But everyone needs to understand that just because someone is a “celebrity” it doesn’t mean they OWE us something. Recently came across an old clip of Madonna complaining about how men supposedly expect women to look and dress a certain way yet she was offended when Paglia called her out for dressing that way. She was promoting what she seemed to consider patriarchal expectations placed on women by society. Icons know that their actions create ripple effects so parents may be able to talk to their kids as Adrienne said but how much of an impact is that going to have in a world of instagram+peer pressure?

I don’t think Kanye does at least and there was probably a time when the kardashians didn’t. I’ve realized that modern people think something is wrong until they themselves engage in it and this is because it is sometimes hard to face the fact that we did wrong and acknowledge our own faults. It’s harder to do that than it is to point the finger at others and accuse others of judging. If you yourself have come to the conclusion that you don’t want your own kids to act a certain way when they’re older why would you promote it? Why would you pretend it’s okay when others are doing it? Are you pretending or do you actually think it’s okay? If society as a whole does what the real crew did then nothing would ever be wrong. If you see someone on a bridge let them jump. As a matter of fact let’s have diagnosed sociopaths have their way with masochists and people who want to jump. Since we can’t judge them and that’s what makes them happy.
