This is really cool. I've been in the hobby since the mid 80s and I've never had a Grasshopper but your project has inspired me to buy one and try out a 4-link suspension myself!

Nice! I'm about to 4 link a Midnight Pumpkin, but I'm going to try to keep the gearbox in the factory orientation. Having more room under the back should let me do this. You will see the results on the Tamiya Legends page when it happens :)

Thank you for your feedback. I will be waiting for your post. Check my previous video on CW-01 Unimog with 5th shock. I'm happy how it behaves. But since I put a lot of weight on the chassis, it became different handling model unlike stock Lunchbox. It is like a fat heavy truck which has unique handling, but requires some skill and soft finger on the throttle, not to flip everywhere.

Look out for more modern buggy, like DT-03. Good design for bashing.

The amount of weight you have stuck on there is crazy.

Cool, love how you explain what you used and where it came from. Well done. Does the grasshopper 2 front go right on the grasshopper 1 without modification?

I like your system alot, because it can be replicated by anyone, and not dependent on some co.puter files owned by others to 3D print when it needs fixing. We arent trying to get TRF results with the grasshopper anyhow. But 3D printed upgrades often end up costing more than a base model TRF, which is silly. Im curious how you will resolve the front. As there too, mostly its 3D printed solutions, which im not too fond of. If anything can be done with universal parts, that is far better for all the people in the world with grasshopper, and there is many.

Thank you so much for watching and commenting! It is so much more rewarding when creating something yourself, using general parts, than buying some hop up from RCmart :)

What kind of ball ends/ extenders did you use to mount shock and link on the same shock mount on the rear?

Okay, I just subscribed and now the questions start. 1 - If I were to use this method with the stock 380 motor would I have to reverse the wires so it would run in the opposite direction, and if so, would the motor withstand that? 2 - Suggestion, if you could build your triangular top links so that the triangle was rigid with only one pivot on the axle end you would get rid of most of the side to side motion without losing articulation. 3 - Did the Grasshopper II suspension arms require any change in the steering linkages?

Hi, thank you very much for subscribing. 1- you will just need to swap wires, no strain will be added, as stock 380 motor does not have advance timing. 2- probably, but making single pivot on the tip is difficult without making your own parts like 3d printed. Usually all crawlers have independent two top links and this was what I was after. Side to side play is bot very big. You would need both top links on ball ends, being able to move freely when suspension articulate. 3- Yes, I changed the steering links after putting Grasshopper II front arms. They seem different length. Also I had to shave a little of chassis plastic.

This is awesome mate, makes me want to try something similar with my hornet! With the 1/18 shocks you used for the front, were they 55mm or did you manage to squeeze in a bit more like a 62mm shock? What shock length did you choose for the rear? Cheers!
@Mindauxx
@Mindauxx 2 года назад
Hello, Thank you for watching. I used for chinese (Aliexpress) 1/16 shocks, 60mm front and 75mm rear. Whats good with 1/16 shocks is that they have softer springs, which helps for light grasshopper. For front, I used Grasshopper II arms, which lower the bottom shock eyelet position, thus enabling to use longer shock.
@samgodby5567

@@Mindauxx The softer springs would definitely help. Thanks for the info mate!
