Fishing string mod This is the best method I fond for the rear suspension on tamiyas hopper style type chassis cars and trucks.😊👍Thank you for watching please sub.
yupyup, doesn't need to be tight, just no slack. you can twist the 2 strands together 7-10x from the screw side too before tying, may not need any glue to stay put!
check this one Steve, tops of front "shock" posts... about 1/4" of pen spring (or on road car front springs), small washer, and an O-ring that fits the bolt barely scrubbing it. A-arms now at a place they bump steer less, positive+negative "suspended", and a little friction damping thrown into the mix too. simple-cheap-easy-works! easy enough to tweak the clipped pen springs new ends to about flat, start with slightly over 5/16 on length. if you can find plastic washers with a step (tops and keeps the larger springs centered), do same to the undersides stops the bouncing a whole lot. can also play the same game inside the stock rear "shocks" clipping 1-2 turns off the factory springs to ditch a little pre-load.
😊👍Thanks I uselly put a O ring under the front suspension top parts and it makes friction suspension... you can CA glue it under the top part or use the hornet O ring holder..... you need to make a video to show that stuff! 😊
lol you know I don't do videos (yet). the stuff I described was from 80's racing in Hornet entry level class just for giggles. they had to be stock and stock 27 turn can motor, no shocks just stock spring/tube stuff. they'd allow little stuff like ProLine tires and rims, I ran Fox/Hornet rear adapters. also butchered rear top of battery trap to stuff a saddle pack in it (plastic box graft), shifts the CG rearward and really helps get around in loose dirt, nicer jumping too.
It’s very clever :-) But I must say, for visual and aesthetic reasons, I like a transmission brace a bit better. But it’s cheap and quick. Anything that prevents that slap is genious :-)
you can use black charcoal colored string and you won't see it at all but nothing works like the string mod it's best...holding down the gear box with those braces don't let the suspension compress up like here in my video for when you hit a jump. 1:56
😊👍Nope better this mod not only holds down the gear box from slapping up but still allows the whole gearbox to fully compress up as I show in the video and the other methode don't let it do this only pivot and the rear shocks can only compress.
Hi nothing works better than the string mod I tried everything... if you watched my video you would have seen why the string works better than the ampro type hold down brace.
No shocks work on this chassis it's a design flaw when you give the buggy some throttle it pulls the shocks open and locks them up from compressing and actually working like a normal suspension, they mainly only compress and work like normal when your off throttle. so this is the best you can do with the hopper style chassis.
@@frankstit4tatHi sorry it's a known fact that the tamiya hopper chassis is a faulty design why it's always hopping around.... it's true sorry I had hoppers for 30+ years. hold your car in font of it's front bumper so it can't move and apply a little throttle you will see the rear twist and pull the shock shafts fully out of the shocks and lock them up fully open why it don't compress and work when driving only at super slow speed or coasting is the time it actually works.
