This is the 2nd vid of my Tamiya Lunchbox upgrades of parts I had on hand laying around. So far I am very pleased on how this little rig is turning out! Also in this vid I do a little bashing. :)
I love it... I am thinking of getting one or two as well. May also have to pick up a grass hopper while I'm at it as that was my first RC car. I am getting burned out on expensive nitro models, and with my children getting old enough to build there own cars I think these retro kits would be a great starting point.
That thing gets around pretty good for a brushed motor. It looks awesome. I really want to add 1 of these to my RC collection. I'm 42 years old so yeah it makes sense

It's amazing that this thing doesn't flip more than it does. So narrow and tall. Definitely a nice vintage piece. My neighbor back in the day had one with a Reedy modified and an old Novak ESC in it and it ran circles around some of the neighborhood buggies. Awesome little truck!
I always thought lunchbox shared the same chassis as monster beetle and Blackfoot but its a little different. Maybe the same chassis as midnight pumpkin though.
They are very cool rc's just got my son a midnight pumpkin which is the exact frame I have a Vannessa from when I was a kid and it still works and I am 41.
Beautiful Lunchbox !! upgrades on the cheap , yeah ! r/c has become a chequebook-hobby and is so expensive for young people -and old people (I am 66 .)
i jus brought, i was 7yo in the 90s and my parents couldnt really afford one, fast forward 20years and nw i have the re-release version and midnight pumpkin for my son lol

It looks awesome! You can't go wrong with black and chrome. It definitely looks better than the yellow body and/or wheels. I don't have a "wheelie" Tamiya, but I definitely want one. They are so fun to drive! Tamiya does have some very expensive models, but they also offer a lot of inexpensive models. The Midnight Pumpkin and Lunch Box are just two, but they have a lot of other kits under $200 such as the Holiday Buggy, Hornet, CC-01's, Stadium Blitzer, etc.
Stock speed control and 17 turn brushed motor? Cool..What is the exact Tamiya speed control your running? Just so I know for sure what ESC it is when I try it.
Hi There. Loving your lunchbox (so to speak). I'm trying to do the shock tower brace. Could you please let me know the sizes of the parts for these? Is it M2 threaded rod? What size ball ends etc. would appreciate it if you could let me know. Thanks
Thank you! To be honest I eyeballed the whole thing and used spare parts I had laying around so as far as measurements I'm not sure. The threaded rod is used for rc airplanes and I got it at my local hobby shop.
Nice Lunchbox! I'm thinking about getting one too, how do you mount non-tamiya shocks on the lunchbox? it doesn't have the normal mounting eyelets like the modern RC trucks I'm used to. Did you just remove the eyelets and use a nut on top to mount it to the chassis?
Nice video I recently got into the RC hobby and bought an original 1987 Lunchbox roller, a complete midnight pumpkin with old school electronics for my 87 lunchbox, a futaba attack, and a re rerelease midnight pumpkin with controller and battery but no charger. I've Got $400 in everything so far with a limit of around $500 total. I'm looking for some good cheap batteries and would like a recommendation on a field charger that goes off the battery of my truck and not through the cig lighter. Would like it to be one of those 15 min fast chargers also. What would you recommend battery and charger wise? Thanks sorry for all the questions. Very new to this but being 21 I can finally afford to get what I wanted when I was a kid.

Nice lunch box recently bought the re release my self currently got a few things to tune it up with new moter ball bearings for the wheels so spin better new springs more power full bat ps how do u get the lights on this model saw sum vids with them running them

Straight outta the box I've seen these running like they're "supposed" to... But isn't that kind of a subjective statement? Explain what you mean by running like it "supposed to". Because straight outta the box, it looks like it rides great.
