Tamiya TT02 Speed Run Challenge Episode 6  

Another fun day running my TT02 in Fil’s speed run challenge. The chassis is now in bits and I have some decisions to make on the next steps!

For the motor, check to make sure the brushes are not hung. Give it a gentle tug on the brush leads and pull them back and forth a few times only a couple mm or so. It may have hopped away and got hung so there is no power go to the armature. I thought this was going to be an easy thing to get these going fast but it seems everyone is struggling a bit to get them going more the 30mph! I got my car built today, I still need to do the body. I may sneak it out with an old junker body just to see what it will do tomorrow. I am getting too curious!

Oh, man, very interesting to follow along! Bummer with that motor, I hope you manage to salvage it! Lots of cool upgrades coming in, I am especially looking forward to seeing that cool new body, I love the Bittydesign stuff! One very crucial upgrade you have to do that you haven't mentioned: You need a better location! I also noticed you got full throttle for such a short time, you could actually risk the GPS doesn't register it properly, could be why you are stuck in pretty much same speed on all your motors... Try find a parking lot, I think you will like it a lot better! Lots of fun watching all these, I also need to rush and get my own TT-02 built and made ready, looking forward to joining the fun!

Don’t give up mate you’ll get there , definitely ditch all the Tamiya plugs though and maybe direct solder your esc wires to the motor as well, you will get there ! Take care

You might want to ditch the extra connectors and the Tamiya connectors for less resistance. Those bushes really provide a soft crash area!😂

I was going to suggest the same as Addam regarding the brush wobble about to see if they may be stuck. Very frustrating for you. So much temptation here to join in ..... 😂

Man you’re brave doing a speed run on a curve lol…that said I totally get why you chose that location….never seen anywhere so smooth in the UK😂 …I’ve found a few spots round my neck of the woods, but sadly too much pot holes/traffic. The search continues. Great run…onwards and upwards

This challenge is becoming super frustrating. I was expecting my 11T motor to kick buttocks but it’s currently slower than my 23T!

It’ll be nice to see how much those upgrades help.

You may also try turning your steering dual rate down a bit. It will help with the twitchy response. Keep it up brotha. Love your videos

Oh no! We both seem to be struggling to see an improvement! 😢 I was so hoping you'd get more speed out of the LRP as that's all I've got left to try. I shall see what mine does though as my gearing is slightly higher than yours. Not holding my breath though 😅. I hope you can revive the Orion mate. Best of luck! 😎👍

You will benefit from reducing the electrical resistance in your wiring. I would recommend directly wiring your esc to motor wires now you have decided on a motor to move forward with and get rid of the tamiya molex plug and shorten everything to give the best chance. Think you need a different venue also with a longer straight so GPS has more time to register plus the low turn motors have more time to fully spin up. There must be a retail park/B&q near you surely.. Good luck.

Cor your steaming along mate! Great to see your name so high on the Sunday Scoreboard today! You have certainly got your work cut out doing a speed run on a narrow bend..... Tescos leave their car park lights on for an hour after they shut each night, makes for a perfect running ground as the car parks become pretty empty, just a suggestion? As for the motor..... bummer! Sounds like a brush issue to me? 🤔 Hope you get it sorted dude. 👍 👍 👍 👍

Fun and interesting video series to watch. With that new spur gear adapter, you should be able to get some non-Tamiya spur gears that are even smaller than the Tamiya speed gear, should you wish to do so. Is the timing adjustable on the motors you have? If so, you might be able to get more speed by advancing the timing a bit (though don’t go too far). Waiting for your next installment!

Hi there Craig, lots of upgrades to come, I would have liked to have entered, but I don’t have a speed meter. Also, judging by the competition and the amount of financial investment, I’m not sure I’ll get that past the Mrs 😂😂😂 sorry the motor failed. Did you put a AA battery across the terminals to check the motor turns, without being behind the ESC? best wishes. 😊😊

Like it was suggested in the comment section before; check the brushes. Good chance they're stuck or used up.
