Im so impressed with these, and with the Rays. I definitely think skateboarding is such an underrated part of the culture in St. Pete, Tampa and Clearwater. Understandably, people thought they could go with the Sunshine City or Cigar City concept, but the Rays aren't afraid to be unconventional, so this suits them perfectly. The new, interesting and clever logos were done so well. I love the "SkyRay" on the hat, as well as the Pelican logo that pays homage to the large skatepark in Tampa, as well as the Pelican to represent St. Pete. Something I had noticed was the city connects in MLB have overused black - but I really think it fits the Rays better than most. Of course, black was always a secondary or tertiary color with the Devil Rays, but the black also helps lend itself to the concept they were going for. If I had one critique at all, it may be that the numbers and chest logo are kind kf hard to see... Which speaking of the chest logo, it's been nearly two decades since the Rays had a jersey that said "Tampa Bay" on the front, and I love that they did that. I almost felt like they had to, being that it is the city connect, but it's such a welcome addition. And the font is nostalgic too, for those of us who watched those mid 2000s DRays. Love the colors, love the concept, I really think it is one of the best, if not the best City Connects in the majors right now. And, in my opinion, the reveals couldn't have come at a better time for the team and the fans, given their recent struggles and injuries. Well done to the Rays 👍
