Thanks for the review. I just played with the Tamron G2 and Nikkor 200-500 today at our local camera shop and liked them both. I took a few shots and felt that the image quality and AF were very pleasing. However the weight of the nikkor really puts me off. Your review really swing my decision to the G2. I will get it as budget allows.

I quite like the professionalism of you video's Dustin! Great job, and thanks for posting these video's. I too am a Nikon shooter, but suspect all you've shown would be similar especially with the many full frame Nikon's as well.

I have had the "G1" since release in the Uk and use it on a Nikon D810. Having calibrated that with focal I'm really happy with the images I get, although you do need good light to get it performing at it's peak. Given the price point against the proprietary lenses I think it's fabulous value for money, especially at it's current price point. I really enjoyed your detailed analysis here and, for the moment at least, I'm sticking with the "G1". Sometimes you have to use what you have, after all, it's the photographer who takes the picture, not the lens. Thank you for another really good review.

In regards to short focus softness perhaps using a short extension tube to bring the focus closer while the lens' focus mechanism is set to a farther distance may improve things for that usage.

Thank you for your excellent review Dustin. I have recently sold my Sigma Sports lens and was about to order the 100 to 400 canon lens for my 5d mark 4 body. After seeing your review I am having second thoughts. The Tamron 150-600 G2 has some great features that could work for me.
