By that, you mean Tank whooped his ass sideways until he literally tripped. Frye looked worse after a minute with Tank than his war with Yoshihiro, either of the Goodridge fights, or his biggest win vs Shamrock.
@@ABeautifulEarthForOurChildren I have a close friend who is a professional firefighter. He has run cycles. They literally never test anyone for that. His words.
@@MrSneakyPants don frye fought over 20 years ago the rules were much different back then and more strict. I know that they don't test anymore i think it's not even illegal anymore
@@samsquantch14 u mf must not kno how to read he said he stoop up with tank how he pulled it off he didn't he didn't get a knock out he took em to the ground for the submission wich mean he knew he couldn't stand up with him y'all illiterate and no I'm not new to MMA I've been watching the sport since ufc 5
Funny thing is that before the UFC Frye was a Pro Boxer,,, He went 2-5 and was knocked out 4 times. the UFC was no where as near as stacked as it is now. There really wasn't a very high bar to get into it.
This is the finals of an 8 man superfight tourney. Tank had already beaten 2 guys before he got to Frye in the finals, give him some credit. He also went the distance with Dan Severn in the semifinals of the first Ultimate Ultimate.
@@honxsolo because it makes no sense to say one fight is more realistic than another fight in the octagon, they are all fights and they are all real (ok some conspiracy theorists may disagree on this point).
Have not seen many people work Frye like that. Frye was undoubtedly the toughest fighter in the UFC. Shamrock broke Frye's ankle and tore his knee, and Frye just kept going and won. unreal
@@blacksmokematters4521 would have, could have… but that’s not how it went. Albeit tank was landing some decent shots, if it remained on the feet, he could have won. But that’s not what happened.
@@javiersanchez3061 Tank gave Don his back because he was punching himself out lol 😂 Frye was taking Tanks best and kept moving forward thus Tank losing his balance. Tank had zero ground defence.
To a certain degree, yes. But Frye took some big punches (showing incredible toughness), stood in there with Tank, and pounced when the opportunity came. Also showcased his ability on the ground
@@tetekuka6982maybe not, David apparently was known for his cheap shots, he took out a guy, knocked him out on his back and he got on top and slugged him while he was knocked out so this was so satisfying to watch
Vitor made him humble real quick. This was one fight where tank's power was nullified by Vitor's speed and accuracy, even in the wrestling department he couldn't outmuscle Vitor.
The fight before was fixed frye won in 20 seconds vs his buddy thats why tank was angry … he fought hall twice before and they both went like 17 min… frye manager also managed hall so he wanted frye fresh for finals
I feel honored to grow up watching those first UFC fights, when it was basically a no rules free-for-all. Tank, Gracie, Severn, Frye, Shamrock, Coleman... There will never be another era like it!
a light jab from a guy who benches over 600lbs regulary^^ this dude was a monster its like wacthing a Triceratops fighting a T-Rex most epic stuff ever
Tank was pissed because before the fight he and Don agreed to keep the fight on standing trading blows not taking it to the ground both shook hands and agreed this that's the reason tank won't shake Don's hand and is pissed and tries to walk away because he felt don didn't keep his word
Totally an accident. Don was in the hurt locker. But like all Predators they take advantage of the situation when their prey stumbles. Tank was kind of hurt, but Tank landed more cleaner shots and you can tell Don was in big trouble. Easily one of the best matches of UFC history for their age and weight class. Easily a top 3 win for Don.
That takedown was nothing more than Tank having his weight perfectly set up to be vulnerable in exactly the right way for Don to give him a shove and send him flying. Don was seeing stars at that exact moment, and due to his pure heart and Tank's lack of grace - the takedown happened. Don was still punchy at the moment he was jumping on Tank's back and trying to figure out wtf just happened. Ultimately, Don won due to his heart and Tank's lack of coordination. Just for the record though, this was partly luck and Tank was just about to win before the takedown, because he was beating the every loving shit out of Don Frye. I can understand why Tank was upset, but that's where sportsmanship comes into play and you give your opponent what he's earned: respect.
@@garymorris9611 I am just saying that Frye was not good enough under boxing rules to do well at it. He got into UFC in it's infancy, The Vast majority of fighters back then were no where near as proficient in multiple disciplines like todays MMA fighters, nor did the have the same conditioning.
@@joeschmoe9154 lol most of your comments are trying to discredit don fryes wins and abilities. Yeah he didn't succeed in boxing because boxing is barely fighting, it's more technical and more so for guys that started very young and were constistant. Don was great at grappling pre ufc though(which is why he's remembered as the first well rounded fighter), and although his strength weren't lended well to boxing, he could probably beat the vast majority of boxers in a real fight while he was in his prime. One of the most dangerous guys walking around for a while just by virtue of knowing so much stuff that guys in other combat sports couldn't get around
@@Debilm4nzs-zu9bc He was a physical specimen, tough as shit and knew enough Grappling to do well in what was a Sport in it's infancy to stand out. He stood out in a field of guys who would get absolutely SMOKED if they stepped in a Ring with any decent MMA fighter today. There are LEVELS to this shit. Just like The Royce Gracie of UFC1 would not only get crushed in a UFC today, he would not even place in a IBJJF Pans or World BJJ tournament, He wouldn't even get past the first round of the ADCC no gi qualification tournaments. The sport has evolved that much.
Still love watching these old fights. Tank was simply that, hard hitting like a tank. You get hit by one of his projectiles, we'll, you saw what happened! Don is just a beast. 2 top fighters for sure!
Tank could grapple was a decent wrestler,he didn’t train bjj though that was the problem,he thought it was for wimps, also cardio was shocking gassed easily
Absolutely love both of these fighters and their styles.don might have won but he should have known you cant go toe to toe slug fest with the tank.but don is an absolute tough legend.
Don Frye had such classic Pyrrhic Victories where he took horrific beatings from guys like Tank Abbott and Yoshi Takayama, that looking at Don’s bloodied, pulverized face, one would never believe he was the actual winner.
Yup was going to say the same. Not sure if Frye could have kept eating those punches. No one can question his toughness but at some point it’s a physics problems. Then again perhaps Frye taking it to the ground was a matter of time regardless.
Oh fuck off tank ain’t glamorous whatsoever but dude still had a meann right hand. Same thing with don Frye , both wouldn’t survive nowadays but still pioneers
That was a fight! That was a fight like you’d have in the street. That fast, that intense, that much action, that serious. Couldn’t believe Frye slugged his way outta that brawl and got tank off hid feet. Super intense fight of all time early in to the cage fighting days. Can’t believe Tank up and walked out of the ring. Kinda uncool. He couldn’t shake Frye’s hand and say good fight bro? Either one of those guys could’ve walked away the winner. Both equally matched in that particular brawl.
@@davidfitzgerald5110 Lost his balance because his punches were doing Jack shit to Don as he kept moving forward no matter what. Tank had nothing left in his tank 😂He just gave up his back to him.
That's why tank is pissed won't shake his hand and says F - OFF to Frey he was expecting a slugfest and Frey went back on his word it would be a stand up fight
Tank was in control of the fight, which says a lot. Don Frye was no Joke in any kind of fight. But Tank slipped up just enough, left his self open. Don didn't waste any time . This happens all the time in boxing, MMA,UFC. I been watching 🥊, MMA UFC For years. One minute you're winning pretty handily, next thing u know it's over. You Lost. Tank looked like he was gonna kill Don , but he left a tiny opening and we saw what happened. Awesome 2 LEGENDS GOING AT IT. ❤
Frye gets rocked early and recovers to win by submission. That's to be expected from the only man to ever punch Godzilla right in the mouth, and Frye did after this fight 💯💯💯
Tank never stood a chance! He pushed Don down with his 75 pound advantage and made a HUGE mistake of thinking he knocked him out a bit and jumped on him and it was all over. Tank was handled like a little girl by Dan Severn on the ground and beaten and in this one he was whooped by his own self righteous nature of thinking he won 30 minutes before the match even began! I'm reminded of the line in the Batman film where Bane said to Batman, "victory has defeated you, Mr. Wayne". LOL
