The Belgian Tank Museum's rare Soviet JS3 tank joined the annual Bovington Tankfest. to show off in the arena.
Too late for active service in WW2, the new generation of Soviet tank designs forced the allies into designing vehicles that would be effective counters.

I would have loved to have been there that year! Looks like some really interesting tanks there. I've been to the Tank Museum in the winter months and it's WELL WORTH a visit! Extremely interesting and the restaurant is great too. Did anyone else hear the Chieftain engine and get goosebumps from it?

I came on after the JS-3. I was in the T-72, we put a smoke screen down over the press area ;)

This really shook em up when it first appeared in Berlin in 45. The large quantity of white smoke is likely due to dirty injectors.

Indeed it was. It's not a proper show, more of a testing time but the low spectator numbers give you the chance to film from different vantage points. It makes the parking area easier to explore too. Well worth the extra day.

No, to give the driver a bit space to stick his head out. The driver hatch is located tiny bit on right side.

You're right, it stank. I don't know what their conservation budget is but that engine has to be the priority.

@@squeakemouse867 Engine durability even begets us in Russia! These tanks stand on pedestals and are sometimes removed for restoration, so some go their own way after 60 years of parking, they are simply refueled and the engine started and they drive !!!
