Rocco The Rayquaza there wouldn't really be a way to make a leobreaker just do to the general natural of it being a retool and how the arms transform......
Baltmatrix I think ive found a solution to your seige galaxy optimus prime's truckmode problem. Regarding those missing pieces, i bleave the shoulder pieces for optimus's armor power up mode are the missing pieces for the truck mode.
If you put the two shoulder pieces together they are very similar if not almost the same as the piece on top of the truck. In reality they don’t actually fit, but I kind of agree with what you’re saying. I think it’s the shoulder pads.
THANK YOU! You are the first reviewer that voiced my concerns about this figure. I still say the core robot mode is ugly. Takara can actually make it better by adding several milimeters here and there, but they didn't. And the transformation is, well, not really a disaster, but I expected better. This feels like an unfinished prototypr that thrown into production line. Still, it is looks good in Galaxy Mode.
I have MOST of the original Cybertron Optimus Figure. Just Missing The very ends of the wings, The Right rear Calf Gun thing, and Some headfins. Even Missing all theat, the figure is still freaking BALLER
Baltmatrix, you are my favorite reviewer on RU-vid. Thanks for giving your honest opinion about this guy, it's crazy how people just say to buy it no matter what. I have hardly any money so if I'm looking at a figure I always check to see what you think of it first.
I wished we get a remold of the Kingdom magnus/nova prime into a Power Master Optimus Prime/Sentinel with Apex Armor, with Galaxy Prime wings of course
0:50 gotta say, I've had my original Cybertron optimus prime since 2006 when I was 8. That thing has been heavily used, but not a single joint on it is loose (they're all ratchets). For all of that figure's design flaws, they just don't MAKE them like they used to.
You Autobots take anything back....to DESTROY the evil forces...of the Decepticons, Transformers go! Also, Core Prime really reminds me of the Cybertron Burger King toy I used to have.
It looks like the picture shows the shoulder pieces still attached and folded back with the arms to make the top of cab. But that isn't possible in the figures released design. Wonder if it's a hold over from an earlier prototype. Also the back part of the truck is very finicky, but once everything is in the right place it becomes much sturdier. It took me a moment to really examine my figure and figure out all the little placements you have to get right. I am much happier with it now.
I was going to get this figure but I found an original Cybertron Optimus Prime at Vstock in Kansas City earlier today. He is missing his guns but I really like the figure! I imagine 9 year old me would have a ton of fun with it
Dude it is 2023 (2019) when this video dropped. As must as they're changing us for these things, it is unacceptable to have any loose joints like that, holy shit.
I settled for getting an incomplete Cybertron Prime and an incomplete Galaxy Convoy and used pieces from Prime to complete Convoy. Obviously, I was already calling that 'Galaxy Prime'. I still intend to get this figure. I like the Siege line that much.
I'm really hoping a upgarde set or even some filler pieces for the cannons gets released for that figure because I got Nostalgia for the Galaxy forces / Cybertron version of Optimus Prime.
The top part on the cab may be a part on the Takara version.ive noticed that a lot of the box artwork comes with either the prototype version or the Japanese version.
that roof piece is actually the shoulder pieces in the galaxy upgrade mode and i cant seem to transform prime properly with those on so idk why they put that there
The side flaps on the legs are screwed in. Trust me. I removed the screws and separated them. You don't want to do that. There is a VERY long plastic guide that is virtually impossible to put back in place if you open the leg panels up. It literally took a Vice, a large flat headed screw driver, and an extra set of hands to get it back on mine.
The box is showing his truck mode with the galaxy upgrade shoulder sections attached onto the core robot shoulders but there's not enough clearance for that to work on the actual toy
Think your video was fine, seeing someone's face, body language gives more character to one's thoughts. I bought Optimus and Megatron, I really like the Optimus figure. So after hitting the bank, decided to see if I could find a Shockwave, which I did at Target. But also picked up Magnus...thinking I could link him to Prime. Was I wrong, I would need this Prime to do it, but I have the original Cyber/Galaxy Prime...your right, He is a great toy. I like hooking him up with Leobreaker and Wing Saber...to bad I can't link all three at the same time. I'd have Wing, Leo & Nemesis Breaker attached while holding Metroplex's buzzsaw hammer thing.
Now that balt mentioned the base prime looks bulky like energon prime, a crazy idea came to me: what if a 3rd party company makes an “upgrade” set consisting in recreations of prime's energon drones that combine with this prime to make prime's energon super mode
The original Galaxy Force/Cybertron Optimus Prime is still my favorite Transformer of all time. It's worn out and some parts are irreparably damaged, but nonetheless, it remains my favorite, and I still have it to this day, with everything the toy came with still in my possession (all missiles, accessories, etc.), well over a decade since the birthday that my parents got it for me. To see that being reduced to this sorta hurts, because all that crazy good engineering was reduced to this rather lazy lump, but this does have some positives, and in the end, it seems like it's alright. I just wish they had put more care into it. I'm at least happy that they even remember it, though, so if I want a modern interpretation, this will do.
I don't care about those issues I just want to have a galaxy prime and magnus. Not bothered bye loose bits. Theres a 3rd party of this to make you happy. I love this figure! How do you dislike the vehicle so much it looks just like the original
Would’ve been better if they just scaled down the original cybertron mold. Plus then we could’ve maybe gotten a Leobraker and wingsaber for some good cybertron combining goodness.
Great review as always. Keep up the good work :) I picked this figure up about 3 weeks ago but I didn't really care for it too much. I ended up returning it and getting the Voyager Optimus Prime which I like a lot better. Funny thing with the voyager class that my wife pointed out to me is that if you fold up the axe blades and keep the handle folded out, it looks similar to a guitar. I now have that figure posed like he's playing a guitar lol
I mean they do have looser joints than I'd like, but I don't feel they don't really detract terribly from their ability to hold a pose. Rather interesting Galaxy Prime hasn't shown up on the East coast yet... I live in the Midwest and have had him for a bit less than a month
Found this figure in my local Walmart, was the last one I saw so I snatched it up. It’s not perfect, nor does it replace the original Cybertron Prime I have, but it’s still decent. Plus the core robot mode is what IDW plans on using in their upcoming reboot(?) for some reason so that’s kinda neat, I guess.
I've found this here in the east coast region but Target has it locked for another 2 months :/ That said, as someone who pretty much only cares for Transformers Cybertron as an animated series, this is something I absolutely need.
What I don't like the most about this figure is that is has G1-esque OP with GF cab chest as core robot that turne into Galaxy Convoy Super Mode via whole lot of parts, especially those fake cab shoulder bits. Original fihad cannon-wing backpack and two leg pieces for partforming the Super Mode, with larger mech peed and head integrated into core figure. This has SEVEN parts to make Super Mode. And there is no handgun hidden in one big cannon and second one doesn't open up. That just looks CHEAP compared to 2005 figure.
The missing pieces on the top are the shoulder pads. If you look closely at the image on the box you can see that white stripe that they have. I believe they are just on their sides facing the way they would be if you placed optimus in combined mode on his back with head towards the front of the cab. I could be mistaken.
I saw this at target and he was $70 but I didn’t buy him because I was saving money for a Nintendo switch. I have a switch now, and I’m wanting him for Christmas. According to the target website, he’s $40, but unfortunately, he’s sold out. On amazon, he’s around $50.
I have all the Galaxy Optimus Prime there are! I just loved this one! This is not as good as the Original, but definitely a great one! I love the look of the truck mode, looks like a Twistet Metal Truck. Also the fact that you can play with Guns and Armor!
The backpack piece is removable and you can put it back on, you have to pull down the wast e piece turn around the waist 180 and push down on the backpack and
i've got mine pre ordered, but he wont show up till july because i live in Europe and had to order it from a local online shop. still, they must have something planned with those heel extensions: war for cybertron sonic bomber/wing saber? (edit: i got mine, and his right shoulder is not floppy loose, but loose in the up-and-down motion. his waist is also loose, and his hips: sometimes they barely hang on by their friction)
The biggest aesthetic issue I see is that Regular OP looks like a chunky monkey. If Hasbro had made it in such a way that the side of the body can compress about a half an inch on each side to make it not looks as far I say this figure would look pretty good.
