Get Siege Figures at the BigBadToyStore! bit.ly/2OD0UzX This toy is so much fun. It's the perfect modern take on a goofy idea from the 80's. Twitter: @Baltmatrix Facebook: BaltmatrixReviews Instagram: Baltmatrix
I am loving siege so far! None of the sticker bullshit of Titans Return, and none of the oversimplification of Combiner Wars. These figures feel like the Thrilling 30 generations is back, and it feels great.
I so want this toy to accompany Battletrap. I'm more than fine with Flywheels (Skytread) not being two separate bots and would prefer if BattleTrap was made that way too. Either way, having both will be great.
RodimusPrimal: Does it really "hurt" Battletrap to be able to separate into not only two vehicle modes but two smaller bots? I'll sound super greedy, but I'd actually like the Duocons to have gone one step *further.* I know folks are sick of new combiners, but I'd like a third Duocon and to be able to combine them all...so that Hasbro can release them in the appropriate colors as the Autobot "Multiforce" characters that debuted in Transformers: Victory. ^^' I'll gladly *take* what we've gotten, however. :)
@@KamisamanoOtaku Agree. Three Deluxe Class Multiforce Autobots just stuck in their default small combiners, that combine into Landcross. Makes me also wonder about Road Caesar too albeit dropping the huge combiner ports from the Prime Wars Trilogy.
I agree. Cyberverse may be the more child-oriented series, it's nothing like Siege which is indeed, part of the War for Cybertron Trilogy, and further, the Generations line.
I'd like to see Hasbro come up with new original Duocon figures that play like Skytread. Just thinking about vehicle combinations and colors of each half has my mind going crazy. The Battletrap figure is cool, but the Skytread looks better.
The new line is like a long-awaited reuniting of something you misplaced decades ago but found in your attic. I love it so far, keep up the awesome you do!
I'm glad that they made a figure of this character because I've been planning a Lego version of flywheels and it helps to know a transformation scheme for it
I kinda have to agree. It adds a good deal of play value to the BattleTrap set, in my own personal opinion. Then again, I don't have the figure yet, so...
Some of the character guides (especially the "TF:More Than Meets The Eye", by Dreamwave Comics) do describe Overlord as having a dual "mitotic spark", along with the Duocons, microcassette combiners SquawkBox and Slamdance, and creatures such as Sky Lynx.
love those proportion not too beefy not too skinny they nailed the g1 style into a modern update appearance specialy the head love those blocky visor g1 style heads
Thank you, Mr baltmatrix. This one was on my wishlist since Decepticon reveal at NYCC, it looked great. I was a bit afraid he'll suffer "big feet syndrome", but from what I see, it's not that bad. He's great, wonderful head sculpt, it's awesome he scales that well with Battletrap (and fact he can exchange parts with Battletrap is cherry on top). And he is packaged as deluxe, so no need for third party accessories. Only thing I regret is that his parts do not have robot modes (it would be justified here because of his split personality). I hope Hastak will make more of such figures (Slamdance?)
I simply LOVE how compatible Siege Skytread is with POTP Battletrap! Y'know, even though that particular Battletrap is a combination of two original robots. This? To me, this Skytread figure feels much more like a true Duocon. 👍☺💙
Nooo! Every time Balt puts up a new review, I have to find room in my budget for one more Siege figure. This one looks way better than I had anticipated. Awesome job with the review as always, Mr. Matrix.
I first encountered Flywheels..i mean Skytread in a Transformer Marvel UK story called "City of Fear". Its about the Autobot Wreckers and Deception Flywheels being stucked in an outpost in the middle of a zombie robot infested city called Kalis, Cybertron. There they had to team up to fight against an unending horde of undead transformers which were controlled by an unknown device deep underground. Flywheel barely escaped and promised to return with reinforcement. Since the other Autobots and Deceptions were busy with their campaign in Nebula and Earth and actually never received their distress call, Flywheel could muster with the only reinforcement he could find, the city Titan Tripticon. What a sight to behold to see Tripticon stomping through a horde of undead transformers and Flywheel riding on top of him. After reading that story I always wanted the toy of Flywheels and Tripticon and reenact the scene as a kid. It's great Hasbro remembers him. tfwiki.net/wiki/City_of_Fear!
I had both of the auto transforming duocons when I was a youngster. I will need to grab them both to complete my duocon set that has overlord and skyshadow.
I feel like Hasbro missed an opportunity to make Skytread a Weaponizer figure, in lieu of individual robot modes. Cog is basically also a duocon... two vehicle drones that combine into a robot, and he didn't originally separate into a bunch of weapons. So they could have justified carrying that reinterpretation over into Skyread too. The wings could have been swords, the fuselage a giant arm canon, parts of the tank could have been shoulder mounted rocket launchers.. you get the idea. It also would've given us 2 Autobot (Cog, Sixgun) and 2 Decepticon (Brunt, Skytread) Weaponizers. But I guess it's a gimmick they wanted to reserve for the Titan class partner figures.
Definitely getting this guy, he was one of the toys I originally had back in they day when it was new. I think I still have the jet half in a box somewhere.. lost the tank half.
This figured really does look pretty amazing in fact it kind of reminds me of the G1 blitzwing toy you reviews that also came with a Astrotrain in a Transformers Platinum Series set that came with this color scheme
I'm sort of disappointed that he doesn't have individual robot modes, but as far as being a figure in it's own right, it looks cool; more of a shout-out to his G1 predecessor. He looks like he'll be worth the money.
Funny how I used to have the old toy of him from my brother well half of him. I just had the tank part and I never figure out what he suppose to be since the plance part was gone!
@Starscream91 bruh... whats the point of doing it again without putting a twist to it and last time i checked people have a right to complain after all they are buying it
And plus hasbro got better things to do then "respond negatively" people are still gonna buy skytread or flywheels whatever your gonna call him, and plus this isn't a free figure, Its a figure people got to pay money for and people can judge it if they want if they paided for the dam thing
A battletrap that can transform into tank and plane at the same time is called Blitzwing. Kidding... I had the old toy and it was kind of frustrating because I liked how it looked, but the lack of any kind of articulation made me feel I had a brick. Btw when I saw overlord the first time I always saw him as a rip-off of Flywheels. At least imho
Ya know, I haven't seen a good figure since the generations line ended. I had been disillusioned with new Hasbro figures. But this guy impressed me. He's actually pretty cool.
I'm kinda surprised they didn't make Flywheels two new robots like Battletrap, but it definitely makes for a sleeker combined robot mode. Definitely gonna pick this one up if I find one
I was about to ditch the line completely due to PotP sucking and the battle-damage feature, but your review has given me a new perspective. BTW, battletrap's legs look like those midgets with warped legs.
If they did want to pull off an "auto transforming" version of one of these guys, i know they have an Ultra Magnus that can't turn into robot mode without the trailer but can be separated from it in truck mode. I know they're totally different vehicles but it could work
Why isn't he made up of two fully featured Legends figures like Battletrap? I was stoked to see him in the lineup and so bummed about this missed opportunity. Battletrap was such a fun bonus feature and I would love to see Hasbro do this again.
Vehicle mode is not a tank but an assault gun. Because it has no 360 degrees rotating turret. Drawback on the vehicle mode is that the gun can't mode up and down (that was one of the few things articulation the original toy did have). Disappointed to see he does not have 2 robot modes like Battletrap. They either should have given both of them 2 robot modes or neither of them. For consistency. Having no individual robot modes is more G1 accurate. However after they gave Battletrap two robot modes they should have made Flywheels the same way. I do love it that both of them do exist now as a modern classics deluxe Transformer. Had lots of fun with the original Duocons as a kid. Although in a way they were terrible toys. The arms didn't even move. Well those on Flywheels move sideways, which was useless. Nonetheless I do LOVE It that both characters are back. I am currently using Sky Shadow with the Skytread Titan Master head to be Flywheels just because I wanted the Duocons to be complete. So despite being disappointed that Skywheels/Skytread has no separate robot modes I do really love to have one that scales with Battletrap. I have Battletrap ordered, he was a must-have to me. Despite the flaws I mentioned. BTW. Wouldn't it be fun if you could have replaced his head with the Skytread Titan Master? : )
I wish Skytread had individual robot modes. That what made Battletrap such a great toy. Even through the robot modes was alright, but it was better at shirts/pants modes compared to Energon.
Having individual robot modes seriously hurt Battletrap. His combined mode had Battleslash's arms just hanging off and the individual robot modes were awful.
it would be killer if they did a two pack of tripple changer duo-cons, bring back that bot con exclusive generations springer mold battletrap, and pair it with a titans return blitzwing skytread!
I personally still think it would have been cooler if they carried on what potp had done if they were going to release them both. Flyfire and Thunderwheels still sound like great names to me
A pretty cool figure. Idk who he is though so I'll probably pass on him and just get the G1 styled characters familiar with but a decent figure none the less and a great review as always Baltmatrix :)
Ive been waiting for this figure for a while now but i really wish they stayed consistent with battletrap and gave him two robot modes. It would be cool two have four legends figures. Come on hasbro. But thank you also.
