Me too, independent Trump supporter and I thought it was ridiculous how Jake treated both Trump and RFK, but the debate was fair and unbiased and it's good to see him give it to the other side. I just wish the entire media was more willing to hold this administration accountable the entire term while he didn't do sit down interviews, didn't take unscripted questions at press conferences (which were short and often he didnt take any questions) or when he would screw up reading a teleprompter. This was evident to everyone before the debate...why is everyone surprised?

The basic tasks of a moderator is to make sure that when a question is asked the candidate can answer truthfully and honestly and when he doesn't you press the candidate for an answer. A debate is not an infomercial or a campaign speech, Jake and Dana failed miserably to help inform the viewer as a journalist, but played a perfect role as a biased paid activist. Ty🙏

I think CNN was remarkably fair in handling the debate. Yes, they gave Biden the questions they'd ask before the debate - I'd bet my house Trump wasn't given them - and obviously Biden was trying to read off note cards he had. But other than that, they let BOTH candidates talk - which is what KILLED senile Joe. CNN is coming to grips with no viewers because they are not a new outlet, they are the propaganda arm of the left.

And if you recall, Trump's team didn't put him in front of the public during the Republican debates. Neither candidate has really been seen very much outside of these orchestrated campaign events. As a country we have to be honest with the fact that both candidates are in very similar health/mental decline and either 2nd term could ultimately be essentially an old man who can't really make rational decisions for themselves propped up by an un-elected group around them making decisions on their behalf with no accountability to the American people. That should worry everyone regardless of party.

Tapper should have done that during the debate, both lied and it would have brought more substance to the debate if they had been called out on their lies with immediate fact checks. The American public, news agencies would be able to see their response to being called out on a false statement and who was the biggest liar. This debate wasn't one, it was a platform for one candidate to repeatedly lie on stage with false claims while the other looked worn and confused most of the night, expressionless and hard to hear him speak. Tapper you may have talked about Trump's incoherent speeches on other news casts but this involved 2 candidates speaking and debating. The debate seems to have kickstarted the "ethical journalist" engine in a few CNN hosts who hadn't tried to turn theirs over in years. It stands out and is very interesting.
