ı have a probelem with xm+, ı test drone in home but ı do arm the quad few seconds after drone is stop so connect break between drone and transmitter and red light flip flop few seconds after reconnect this

Great video. I'm looking to pick up this radio to replace my current Taranis X9D as I like the feel of a smaller radio. Just so I'm fully understanding, by doing this firmware update I would still be able to use my current X4R and X6R receivers by just binding in ACCST mode but newer ones I can bind is the ACCESS mode?? Yes, you will be able to bind existing D16 ACCST receivers in D16 mode and the newer ACCESS receivers in the ACCESS mode.

I was just curious, has any one had any luck using the x9 Lite in the d16 mode with a Tinyhawk S or the Tinyhawk freestyle. I finally got everything updated and bound, but I keep getting disconnects when flying after a few seconds with both the Tinyhawk S and the Tinyhawk freestyle. This seems to be also happening with my X9D + in the d16 mode also but when i go to the d8 mode with the X9D+ both the quads work great. Thanks for any help with this. Rob

Hey Albert, I know this is older video, but I'm stuck, I've got pretty good grasp on all things ACCESS and frsky making things complicated. Im can't find squat on binding an XM+ to a new qx7 radio with internal ACCESS snd a xjt JR ACCST module. Should I update XM+ to latest fw and bind to module, or should i do Bardwells finding on and downgrade XM+ to version

Sorry, I dumped all my ACCESS radios and receivers as the shenanigans from FrSky just made it too difficult to figure things out. I also ran into all these kinds of problems where things worked one day, not the next, or not at all. Flashing and re-flashing firmware, upgrade, downgrade, blah, blah. It got so maddening, I gave up and threw away everything into the trash where it belongs.

@@AlbertKimTV....I don't blame ya, I did the same, I'm all DJI or TBS. Have a guy interested in joining our fpv group, and purchased gear before I met him. He unfortunately purchased a Qx7 access with R9M module, and a rtf 4"quad with an xm+.. Trying to help him figure it out, feel bad because he's kicking himself for what he got, trying to convince him entire hobby isn't this confusing. I was looking to buy a TX and was leaning towards the QX7 then the X9 lite was released. Since we can now have ACCST D16 protocol on the X9 lite is that a better buy or would you prefer the QX7 over the X9 lite?

Personally I like the form factor of the X9 Lite over the QX7 so I would go with the X9 Lite.

Nice video dude. But I have a problem, I have done all the steps and get all the way to bind the xm plus but it won’t actually bind. The receiver light stays solid red and green in bind mode, with radio beeping but nothing. Any suggestions?

I would try flashing the internal RF module again. If that doesn't work, try updating the firmware on the XM+ to something more recent.

Albert Kim FrSky confirmed on email that ACCST can be flashed back. And I did test this on XM+ and no issues. I will let you know after testing on r-xsr

No, the old radios don't have the internal RF module that will work with ACCESS.

This video is for FrSky's method of updating. The other video enabling crossfire is the method using OpenTX companion. Both methods work in different ways and get you different things.

You need to flash one of them so the firmware matches. Firmware is in the download section on the FrSky website. Instructions are with the firmware download files.

It still looks like a toygrade transmitter , but i'm glad they also include option to use D16 protocol , will they also include D8 at a later firmware ? Most whoops and rtf quads have D8

D8 will never be supported due to hardware limitations, the same reason why ACCESS update is only for D16 compatible RXs and TXs. The D8 is a decade old protocol anyway so they probably won't care much about it.

D8 is not compatible at the hardware level, it's too old. The multiprotocol is o ly 35 usd at RDQ.

Hi Albert, I've upgraded mi x9 lite following your video, and checked all the versions (fw and internal module) match yours, but i cant bind with my eachine trashcan in D16 mode. I tried binding with a friend's x9d in D16 and in works perfectly. What am i doing wrong? thanks

Maybe, but I'm not sure if the reasons are technical or business. I haven't seen any proof either way. I'm sure there will be plenty of videos claiming this or that to get views purely based on the sensationalism.

Just annoying you can’t use these new radios with v1 Tinyhawk which I have a few and other micros. I had hoped to use these cheaper radios for a STEM class but price has gone up and all the work required to get them to even work with what I had chosen to build makes it a poor choice. I was excited to get them on a D9 lite but now it’s going to be Jumper.

When I put SD card in unit the contents don't show up and the voice commands don't initiate like the vid. Also, when I go into bootloader it shows empty contents. Why isn't my SD card working? As soon as I unplug it the X9 Lite says empty contents. I copied everything to the sd card exactly like the video.

All the other firmware updates are to the internal module for FrSky protocols so if you're just using CRSF you just need to update OpenTX.

Looks like I am not good with copying files to the sd card, and when writing Firmware from sd card to the x9 lite I get [ directory is missing!/FIRMWARE ]. I have OTX Bootloader - 2.3.0. on the x9 lite.

Try a different microSD card. That one might be bad or too slow.

I had the same problem. Turn on transmitter, hold menu, go to page 2 (or the SD page thing), hold menu again and you should get an option to format. format microsd card in transmitter. reupload all the files from the above youtube video and it should show up in bootloader mode

I'm assuming you have the XM+ receiver on yours? I've heard some people having an issue with theirs with some D16 receivers even after the firmware update. I assume you've done the update? I am not having that problem and I also have no solution for those who are having this issue, sorry.

Yeah I can't even flash the new firmware to it from my x9 lite. I tried with my xlite and it works fine. I don't think it's being powered at all

I suspect frsky and their attempt to lock it to only approved modules is to blame. Plus the radio won't work with my d16 whoop, and I couldn't get it to work with an XM receiver until I flashed the receiver with Access. It works fine with my XM+ receiver though. Overall this product is a big disappointment to me, it's a shame because it does fit my hands well, too bad it doesn't work as a radio. Thank goodness they added a spectrum analyzer though, I'm sure that will never be used.

Please review the new protocol, if l buy a new radio l want the new tech. If l want to run the old stuff l will stick with the x7. The new frsky protocol looks really cool, but l want to see it tested.

Access is way better than accst D16, it's a definite upgrade, we are achieving about twice the range with solid rssi and telemetry, my friend can fly my access models and I can his with model share no need to bind to his or my rx and the future rx updates are now wireless.

ive done all this but my x9 lite will not connect with r9 mini after updated to use fcc. i tried with/without telemetry, cant adjust power, external module is not detected when i go to modules/rx version(not sure it should), lights blink like its binding but wont connect. did i miss something?

The situation changes daily. I think a newer official firmware is out now, but I don't have time to test all these new firmware releases that come out every few days. It's pretty irritating if you ask me.

Good thing FrSky doesn't force us to flash our R-XSRs and wait for ACCESS firmware for the XM+. But I am still reluctant to give money to a company that bullies retailers the way FrSky did.

It's not hardware locked. You have to update the internal RF module with the FCC firmware and update openTX on the radio and make sure EU is not installed when you flash (hint: don't tick EU).
