Tarayi, a tiny three-table eatery in St. Thomas Town, East Bengaluru, was born of homemaker Freeda Ananth’s desire to share the culinary legacy of her late mother and to set up a small business of her own. So, with the support of her husband, Vijay Ananth, this soft-spoken lady ventured out as a restaurateur just a couple of months ago, and in a relatively short span of time has managed to make an impression on the neighbourhood with her rendition of Mangalorean-Kundapur fare laced with a touch of Kerala influence. I visited Tarayi to taste their limited but tasty homestyle offerings, and to also help share the word on this family enterprise that’s a true labour of love. Prawn Ghee Roast
This ghee roast masala exudes a slight sour twang followed by the warmth of the chilli and spices. The prawns are cooked just right, delicately ‘springy’ on the bite, swaddled in the grainy textured masala with the lushness of ghee.

Standing in front of a global fast food chain and hearing Kripal talk about supporting a newly opened family run eatery, brought a smile to my face 😊😊 So, on point, for these times. Although I'm not a fish or a seafood eater, but thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. If they are hiring and you want to ace Kripal Amanna interview - 1. Mutton biryani should be tasted (edit)AFTER trying out chicken. 2. Mutton lends flavour to biryani rice. 3. Types of rice are jeera samba, bullet and basmati. 4. Byadgi for colour and Guntur for the heat. 5. Popular proportion for coffee chicory is 80:20 or 85:15 (always go aahhh here) 6. Know your spices. Never forget Marath moggu and star anese. But the game is in proportion, so you lose anyway. 7. Go for the bone marrow. Always. 8. Good idly should tear under its own weight. 9. Always check where locals eat. Remember these and you will ace the interview. You know tartness, acidity, sweetness and food textures? Congrats, you are a star candidate. 😁

After looking at the video, I tasted Fish meal, Prawns ghee roast and Seer fish. Beyond superlatives, good choice of words, Kripal is right and accurate in describing the taste. Being from Andhra, I loved the Mangalorean style of preparation and taste

Yet another great video by Kripal. I am happy to see the truly Mangalorean flavor and ambiance in this place. It's so nice to see a Mangalorean (Christian) lady bringing the flavors to Bangalore. Limited menu, perfected over the years must be the attraction to the patrons who visit there. Lots of collective hard work, years of experience goes into each and every item served there!!! Being a foodie myself, I must add, I liked the idea of sauteing the prawns and masala separately (in Ghee) and then combining together, which preserves the texture , flavor and appearance of the prawns in the final dish!!!

Hi sir, I recently saw your episode about Sri Jayalakshmi Bakery. Watching that episode reminded me of the famous Bun World Iyengar bakery in Malleshwaram 18th cross.. So many memories attached to that bakery.. It's been a go to place for all the students in Malleshwaram for ages. The quantity and quality of the food is very fulfilling.. This bakery needs to be on TV sir.. Please make a video of this bakery, its a humble request. The owners story is also made into a film in Tamil(Soorarai Pottru) and Kannada(Shoorara-Kondadu). Kripal, you taken my memories of old growing days when my mom used to cook crab sukka or crab curry in our house at Mangalore , as we used eat exactly the same type you ate today. First flesh, clean up with fingers , then direct bite . Thanks to say that don't bother about what people see you from other table just enjoy the food .
