I lost a monster last spring trying to boat flip like that. It was one of those fish that when you crack the whip, you hardly move them and you realize, I better take this one seriously. I should have known better, it had my Braillist bowed over like an ultralight, but I was gonna be cool like Matt! 😢 It came up, I saw a mouth like a 5 gallon bucket and as I lifted, she shook and disappeared! 😳 😭 I went back to the same spot every day for a week praying for a second chance, knowing it wouldn't happen.
My favorite YT channel! So much info…but I wish if possible you could give us the calendar dates and water temps and conditions as a bonus. I’m sure other viewers would appreciate it as well. Thanks for all you do for us!
It is absolutely incredible to me that you found a video like this that was never published. You guys pump out vids like crazy. The fact you have an archive with videos never released to us (especially one like this one) blows my mind.
I've been doing a lot of research on your winter fishing tactics, mainly jig fishing because i've never caught a bass on a jig. I am going on a big trip soon where I will try out all your advice in jig fishing, speed cranking, and ned rigs. Thanks for all your advice!!
Such a good tip about checking your hooks and liters often when swimbait fishing! It’s something I need to get better at with just my fishing in general because I don’t want to get my heartbroken losing a potential pb. Last summer I was on a really good rat bite and I caught a bunch of fish and never took the time to re-tie. I even kept telling myself that I needed to stop and retie but I just kept fishing. Couple casts later I saw a huge wake swimming behind the wake and when the bass hit I swung like I was setting the hook on a jig or a frog or something, which I hadn’t done that entire day, the wakebait snaps off and the bass jumps and tries to throw it but it doesn’t and I never see my bait again. That was an OD rat that I paid $180 for plus a 5-6 pounder lost! Tough pill to swallow, especially when it could’ve been prevented.
It was! I kept searching for that rat for hours that day and anytime I was fishing at that pond for about a month. I figured since it floats I had a chance to get it back but I never saw it. I have 2 OD rats now. They’re expensive but they flat out get bit and catch bigs. I’ve had more success on the OD rat than the Spro and the PB rat combined!
@@tacticalbassinplease add the temp range you are fishing when you do the top 5 baits each month so all states can alignwith the baits you recommend each month. thank you Sir
Sooo, I’m getting a bit emotional… happy, excited, dumbfounded, confused and a little pissed off! I’ve been watching this channel since the beginning… Matt & Tim never cease to amaze me!
OMG , he's watching your video again. He keeps rewinding to watch how fast your retrieve is, with the twitches. We live in OH and he's comparing your foliage in TN to when ours match yours. To funny, he's getting excited for spring.😂😊
Loved this! I’ve been on a bit of a bigger swimbait rave right now and I’m looking for swimbaits that I can build some confidence in. I do own one 6inch mag draft and from watching you I think I need to show it waaayyyy more attention. Any tips on the retrieve for it? Are you also letting it sink a bit, And what knot are you doing for your leader?
Ahh, the sound of that Tranx whirring under the load of a monster. Thats a good sound, and once youve heard it and felt it, its unforgettable. You know its a Big when they make an 8inch Magdraft look like a 3.8 Keiteck!
Matt got me pumped for fishing later today Top baits Your new mini flex A rig 8” Mag draft 6” Zaldangerous swim bait Armaboost arma joint swim bait 🐟💦💦💦💦😎thanks from Georgia
Awsome Vid Matt 😊. Got to share with my Bassin buddy . We starting to get into big Swimbai fishing big time in South Africa . Vid going to come in handy 👍. New mindset / Chasing monster Bass 🤣 . Quick question / you chuck any of the Zaldangerouse yet ?. Cheers
Matt you have convinced me to go braid on my swimbait set up….Is that thump your connection knot makes when going through your guides something you get used to?it drives me nuts but I know I will be able to cast further..thank you for sharing your knowledge
Hey Matt, what kept you fishing that spot all day long? Obviously catching big bass was a reason, but i think i find myself abandoning spots too quickly. Like in my head if I don't get bit in a few casts I am moving on. How do you know when to stay on a spot and grind it out, or when to pack it up and leave???
An awesome day for sure. Could you be more specific to depth. Because it looks like you were concentrating on shallow fish on the dam and casting about 45° to the rip rap but not much of wait on the retrieve. Could you expand on your day?
matt ...just ...matt.😩 😂 You're awesome. Thank u for all u do. tim ..u too. I've been watchin u guys for about 5-6yrs now ...and I've learned so much! I gotta say tho ...my lady and my bank account aren't as fond of u guys as I am😅 ...I kno I'm late ..but if u guys happen to see this ..please answer. If u had to choose between a loomis glx and a croix legend elite for your 7ft medium heavy do it all rod which would u choose?? I finally saved enough for one high end rod and can only get one. I'm a croix fanboy ..just because I've fished em since childhood ...but only the $100 rods. But I've always wanted a loomis. Just wondering you guys opinion.
You know Matt and Tim...... We're still waiting for that South America video. You know, the one you always talk about when you're talking about fishing the Megabass Vatalion
That’s was the most epic day of big bass I’ve ever seen. It’s the kind of day I dream of having one day. You caught more giants in one day than I catch all year! I’m limited to bank fishing right now until I can get enough money put aside for a decent kayak and I catch several 5s and a few 6s every year but I’ve yet to break into the 7 pound class yet. What’s weird to me is I catch most of my big bass in the months of May, June, and July well after the spawn is over here. I think most if not all of them are bluegill eaters and 90 percent have been on topwater, mainly a frog. Which if there’s a better way to catch a big than frogging heavy cover, I’ve yet to find it! It will get the adrenaline pumping!
Hi Matt, I love your channel with Tim and rate it the best educational research medium on You Tube. If I may please bring to your attention, when you are catching a lot of fish your transfer of knowledge or your tactical applicational experience is low because you get distracted with catching, while when you are scratching for a bite you offer up tons of tips. Could you please try to commentate on your cast positioning, eg because it is so cold the fish will be right up against the riff raff looking for heat so casting 5 m short of the bluff wall will not draw the fish out the comfort zone, or like by lowering the trajectory of your cast the hard bait will not dive so deep when entering the water and in so doing save yourself from cracking cranks on rocks in the shallow water, or the water is so clear that you position the boat at the max limits of your longest cast to not give away your presence. Maybe there are other things that give away your presence, I don't know, but everybody is focusing on the bait, rod, reel and line that the hardware is falling short of the suggested success potential because the tactical application is flawed before the leader is off the reel spool. Maybe other factors like time of day(hours after sun rise), factors that impact your success like shadows from overhanging trees cool the water or just any other useful tips that you take for granted when you are on the water. Thanks for a fantastic channel and keep up the great work.
Always a great time watching your Swimbait videos. Question though; Why don't I ever see you guys using Wake Baits? I know it's situational, I know probably not the best for January (lol) and heck....maybe I've missed some videos, but I just never see them from you guys that I notice.
You've just missed the videos... but we're definitely not throwing them in January up here. We throw them so much that we designed the Tactical 210 Wake to fill a glaring void in angler's arsenals 👍🏼
@@tacticalbassin Oh awesome, I'll dig through the channel and use the search feature to find some. That's kind of my favorite way to fish. I make big wooden swimbaits here in my home shop in New Hampshire. I'd love to send you one sometime but only if you'd be interested in fishing it and letting me know your thoughts. You don't have to post anything about it, just let me know, that is if you're up for it. I'm extremely successful on them, but I wonder what someone so vetted in the industry thinks. I don't need any help with sales as those are booming, but I would really appreciate if you'd look them over and swim em. I have a 3.5oz big ol Wake Frog, a 3.5oz Wake Gill, a 3 oz 3pc Wake N Crank Perch and I also have a crawler that catches me an insane amount of fish. You ever fish a crawler? If not, you're missing out on a massively addictive bite, but you really have to go SLOW with your presentations for the pure benefits of a Crawler. Thanks for your reply Matt!
lol boat flipping 7 lbs Ha! - Matt well done sir! Just one question for you. How could forget a 50lb bag day?!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol Seriously thanks for all do! I Really enjoy the finishing video!
Hey Matt, if you could, can you add in the conditions. Wind, Berometric, Temp.(water/air), and moon phase. Especially on epic days like this. My 16 yr old son loves spring fishing and he said he really wish that would be added. Thank you, mother of a fishing lunatic always trying to out do Dad.😊
Hey Matt, quick question, official. A lot of deep clear strip pits. Some have trout. Others are mostly crappie and bluegill, could I get away with using 25 and 30 lb straight flouro on the 300 and 400 tranx.
I have a couple deep, clear old gravel pits I've thrown some big baits in & I use 20-30 lb. Mono with no issues....don't know why fluoro would be any different, BUT better re-tie often...Fluoro doesn't have a control stretch & the weight of big baits could weaken the line after awhile throwing them....
We use a ton of travel rods, not niche at all in our world. We've learned the hard way that you get what you pay for in travel rods. If you're relying on them for overseas travel or places you can't get more gear, you better get the best (strongest) gear possible! Our main travel rods are Megabass Triza, Megabass Valkerie, and Shimano Zodias. We've got several videos dedicated to this subject.
Connection knot is a 9 loop blood knot and the bait connection is a San Diego Jam. We did short videos showing how we tie both over the last couple weeks.
It’s fun when you can fish a private lake that’s full of pigs that will hit the big swim baits, I’ve got one that I can go to like that. Thanks for the tips
This is a public lake. But private sure can be fun! We've only fished private a couple times and it's always been awesome.. When we do fish private, we say so 👍🏼
It always kills me to see them throwing back those big beauty's. I was raised you eat what you catch but I get the sport side of it. I'm just like, man, be good in a cast-iron skilit with some butter and garlic.
No dummy I am me. I live 6 miles from this place and this is a shocker. This swim bait never catches anything here. It had to be full moon. And if I didn’t know any better you just called me Randy. I like Randy. But just because you meant that as an insult. You just wait on your insult I may come.
I'm headed to the bass pro pyramid in memphis on the 30th for my bday. You mentioned you were in Tennessee. If yall are still there that would be a cool bday gift to get some stuff signed by yall lol
