This is exactly why I'll always trust and respect your opinions, you are NOT afraid to like bad movies, you're not some pretentious RU-vidr who forgets you're allowed to have fun with simple cliché bad movies, seriously it's so fresh to watch how genuine and honest you are with your reviews
this is exactly how i feel. i watched it and while i agree it isn’t a great movie, it was still pretty good and enjoyable for me. came home to find out the entire internet hated it 😭 but idc, i liked it and had so much fun watching it
This is exactly why I don't trust this reviewer lol. There's a lot of movies she recommends that I'm glad I waited until they came out on streaming to see and Tarot by far was the worst example of this. 😂 This movie was absolutely horrendous
I'm glad to hear a more positive review for this film! There's nothing wrong with enjoying bad movies and tbh it sounds like I'd like this film too because of the tarot card aspect. One of my favourite 'bad' movies has to be Thir13en Ghosts!
Honestly when you said you wanted a spin off of all the monsters- it reminds me of how I want a spin off of Thirteen ghosts going into each of the ghosts backstories! I can’t wait to watch Tarot, keep the reviews coming- I love to hear what you think of all the movies!
When Haley said that love was gonna be the death of her, I genuinely thought that in the end, Grant was going to be possessed Jack Torrance-style and go after Haley as she's trying to read The Astrologer's reading... Imagine if this was the direction they took and Haley ended up killing Grant out of self-defense (even as like a fakeout). I honestly would've liked if they did this, it could've given the story a lot more emotional gravity.
I kind of liked what they were going for with the endling. The Daughter grieving her mother helped the mother grieving her daughter to move on. But it is executed hamfistedly so doesn't really work. Her tarot arguably did come through as love lead to death (the Tarot version of endings and new beginings) I agree with your overal assessment though, people get hung up on films being good or bad when enjoyment can be found regardless.
That movie was so bad the Dr Seuss estate said they could never make another live action movie based on his work ever again. Glad you enjoy it though. Everyone likes some 'bad' movies I think.
Repo! The Genetic Opera and Velocipastor! The latter is so self aware that I get sucked into the fun the creators had when making it, and Repo is just nostalgic for the goth teen in me that watched it at 17 and absolutely loved it.
The 'right kind of bad' hits home for me. I can watch just about any horror movie that looks faded and unfinished that is set around a body of water, for example, but I can't handle anything but the very best of 1930-40's screwball comedies.
My favorite bad movie: I, Frankenstein. It's one of my favorite movies ever. I love gargoyles. It's really that simple. Gargoyles fighting for Jesus? Ya got me! 😂🤦🏾♀️
This is all good to know going in. I wish it weren't so cliche- I get it, but it would be cool to watch a movie where the monsters are like King of Swords, the Chariot, the Priestess, The Sun, The Fool... just NOT the Devil and Death ^^; The High Priestess & Fool sound cool in this movie!
I have always liked the happening and never cared It was considered universally bad. I agree it’s hilarious but I also like the concept of nature fighting back against humans for all the destruction we’ve caused.
happy mother’s day!! i’ve been watching your videos for years now and i think it’s been so interesting to see how motherhood has affected your taste and views of certain movies…love your content and this video! i hope you have a great day💕
My boyfriend and I loved Tarot! We found it surprisingly fresh. Loved the monsters and the subtle campyness of it, and there were some really decent scares! People were way too harsh on it.
I am looking forward to seeing Tarot even more because of your review! I have love for the silly goofy semi-bad but fun horror. Also loving your new haircut
I knew you were going to like the film the moment I saw the trailer for it. I remember thinking "that is a movie Sarah is going to enjoy a lot". It actually reminds me quite a bit of 13 Ghosts (and that's why I suspected you might like Tarot) having a variety of villains that pick off the main cast. Honestly I am quite stoked about the film myself being a major lover of tarot cards from a young age. As far as bad movies I enjoy I have so many: Truth or Dare, Sorority Row, the Wrong Turn franchise, Boogeyman 2 but a bad movie I want to share with you and the rest that I actually quite enjoy is a slasher film from 2002 called Wishcraft. It's about a nerdy guy who receives a magic totem that can grant him wishes and every time he makes a wish a classmate of his gets brutally murdered in (quite honestly) very creative and fun ways. I don't want to spoil much because there would be nothing of redeeming value that would be left from the movie so I do recommend people go in blind. It is currently on streaming on Tubi for free.
I’ll watch it just because I love tarot/horoscopes/astrology and it’s up my alley. I’ve also seen all your book reviews and would LOVE to see a video on your favourite all time horror/sci fi books!
omg you know what I have to recommend your channel to one of my friends. He has the exact same liking bad horror movies taste as you do. I watched this in theater with him and I was in pain for the whole 92 minutes. And he just enjoyed this movie so much 😂😂
I hope they make another one! Like a prequel that explains how all the other groups died or maybe just the one before, I think it would be super cool!!
I think it would be cool to see you look back at some of your old videos to where your opinions on a movie has changed and critique your own original review! Like a reaction style video where you debate your previous opinion against your new one for movies that you have grown to love or hate!
I agree with you completely on this, I was expecting to not like this movie but the creature designs and actual tarot card elements made it so fun! It kept it interesting to see how all the different cards would look brought to life. I had no idea Trevor Henderson worked on this but it makes sense now why the monster designs were so good.
I want a Tarot movie that doesn't male dumb mistakes regarding tarot. They used 6 of Swords instead of 10 of Swords. There was no reason for this change at all.
I getcha. There's this horror movie called Rigor Mortis, I don't even like the film but the creature design and the cool 10 minute finale are breathtaking. I bought the dvd to rewatch the ending when I want.
Thank you for this review!! I've been debating whether or not I wanna see it in the cinema because of what I had heard. But you liking it (while still acknowledging it's technically bad/generic), gives me hope. I'm a huge Tarot cards nerd, that's why the title alone caught my eye. And astrology can be fun too. So just hearing that at least 1 person liked it, is a sign that I might have a good time. Can't say I loved the Bye Bye Man or Polaroid but I didn't hate them. I enjoyed some of the silliness. And this one has a much more interesting topic. So maybe knowing in which areas it's bad, I can go into it focusing on the good parts. Can't wait to see the cards! Thank you for sectioning of the spoilers in this video.
Omg I just saw it last night and I was waiting for your review before watching it but I couldn't wait anymore. I'm so happy you liked it. I loved it. Mainly because of the entities. I loved the hanging man. I thought he was so creepy. This is why you are my favorite RU-vidr. You never disappoint me ❤
I’m surprised and delighted that you liked this movie. I liked it too!! You’ve my #1 horror creator and to hear that you enjoyed a ‘bad’ movie that I also enjoyed doesn’t make me feel as wrong for liking it 😅
Finally, someone who agrees with me. I’ve been looking at all the other reviews and they’ve all been negative. You were the first one I came across that was positive.
I appreciate this review from you, and it's cool to know you're into tarot too. Great timing too because I was wondering about this movie, mostly about how the cards are implemented in terms of meaning. I really hate how Death is seen as death in the general consensus. I'm not into bad movies so I wish that some day they would make a very serious, in depth creepy movie about tarot and their actual meanings.
Favourite bad movie - Alien vs Predator. The script is terrible. The acting is terrible. But it’s aliens fighting predators! I literally just watch it for that 😂😂
Solid review! I love all the ones you mentioned like Countdown, Truth or Dare and The Final Destination films. But my favorite bad movie is definitely House of the Dead. Early 2000s horror cheese. Plus it has Jonathan Cherry who plays in Final Destination 2.
I also really enjoyed this film even though i knew it was a great film!… I have a few movies that I love but I just know they’re bad. 47 meters down uncaged , spiral , follow me , hell fest , escape room! I could go on but there is nothing wrong with liking what you like!
I was so interested in this movie, then the closer it was to being released I wasn’t anymore, but your review got me re-interested. Kind of reminds me of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which is one of my fav movies lol
I had a great time at Tarot. I get the complaints, but it hit all the right throwback paranormal slasher notes for me. It was like an R-Rated version of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark film from a few years ago.
We went over weekend and watched Tarot, I personally like it as well. I have many tarot and oracle decks myself. I was super excited to see this movie, just didnt appreciate the humor seemed displaced to me.
Have you reviewed The Coffee Table? I figured I'd ask before scrolling all the way back lol Thanks. Love your content, I'm a new sub! Wish you the best and congrats on the new born.
i am so happy that someone else found this movie fun even with the painful comedic relief moments 😭😭😭 like i love gimmicky movies, but the comedy...idk, not a big fan of it in horror movies like this...
Your review is exactly what I told my husband when we finished it! The monsters were fantastic! My absolute favourite bad horror is llamageddon. Please watch it if you have time! ❤
I turned my nose up to this movie but I finally watched it last night and had so much fun! The kill sequences were surprisingly creepy and atmospheric! It brought me back to mid to late 2000’s teen horror movies that I’d go to see in a packed theater when I was in middle school. These kind of “Popcorn Horror” movies made me love horror and they’ll always have a special place in my heart.
I couldn't get past two major plot holes that took me totally out of the movie. First, the cops found "no foul play" in the first death? The girl was repeatedly smashed with a ladder. She didn't just do that to herself, and even if it fell on her once naturally it wouldn't have been that hard. Second, why did they still have the keys to the mansion they rented when they went back to it? They stayed for their full trip.
I LOVE bad horror movies. They need their own genre. LOL I actually refer to them as "mindless horror." Re: Your question...There are so many. 🤣Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of "Ghost Ship," "The Hole," and "Thirteen Ghosts."
We have very similar taste. Theres some movies most people think are bad that i like. There are movies people insist i watch and i can't stop asking why.
I enjoyed the move once it got moving. I think it didn't need that many jump scares. That ending was telegraphed from very early in the movie. Was there any explanation for how these "college kids" were very wealthy? They rented a mansion for a getaway, drive luxury SUVs, and live in huge houses/apartments. The comic-relief guy may not have been as well off, but it seemed he attended their expensive looking school.
the first thing i did after leaving that theater as fast as possible, was go look up the monsters in this move. absolutely hated this movie but the monsters were sooo awesome. loved the article on them, wish they weren’t wasted on this movie 😔
the death card is scorpio (ryans sign i think sorry if its wrong haha) & sagittarius is temperance & the moon card is pisces🖤 im a dreaded gemini & thats the lovers card. which i think makes a lot of since if you venture past pop astrology telling you gems are the worst but to each their own!
Just saw this movie last night and I felt everything as a you described it. It wasn’t bad to the point where I felt like I wanted to leave in the middle of showtime. It had its moments where I genuinely had a bit of a scare. I definitely agree with your comment on the comic relief attempts. The movie could’ve done ok with less of it. And it could’ve strayed away from confusion if that character just got off’d ‘cause the explanation of how he survived was not satisfying at all, especially when they are dealing with supernatural entities. His “redemption” arc at the end could’ve been saved for the remaining survivors cause both of them had more redeemable qualities. It was a chance to explore and develop their characters cause they were introduced to us as “recently broken up”. All in all, it was a fun popcorn movie.
love Trevor Henderson's designs and what he's done for the horror community, especially horror artists! :) I didn't know he'd done the designs for these creatures, that's so cool!
We have the exact same taste in horror movies! 😅 I’m a 60 year old woman, and I love me a smooth brained film, since the 70’s! I like so many “bad” movies, it’s not even worth listing! I was just talking about the move The Car this weekend. There’s one example. lol
Favorite bad movie is Ghost Rider with Nicolas Cage. When it came out my 12 year old mind was blown. I thought it was the coolest thing I ever watched. Saw it like 3 times in the theater lmao.
