The amount of fucking anxiety i had half the fcng video cause he wouldnt unclick the sell on the most powerful joker in his deck is ridiculous

Weakening yourself massively the entire run to try to get the chance at tarot cards to make yourself a tiny bit better at a time is so galaxy brained I can’t comprehend it.

10 more days to release. I'm pretty pumped to get a more dynamic joker set to hone in on synergies. More than 5 Ante rounds is super exciting.

He almost figured out that banner is actually good! Quick we need to wipe his memory

If you don't know there are 3 types of card enhancement 1. Tarot card(suck as lucky, wild, mults, bonus, etc) 2. Glowing(poly, holo, foil) 3. seal(red seal, blue seal, purple seal, etc) Each card can only have 1 of each types, different types can stack(eg. Stone red seal holo, steel red seal, gold purple seal, etc)

having 3x vagabond active while only having 2 card slots is turning me into the joker

This run was the definition of the phrase "embarrassment of riches". NL had a great macro strategy which was paid off intensely by the tarot card joker, and so it was easy coasting from there. The minutiae you can forgive because what was happening was so powerful anyway. And hey, if you hate the misplays that much, the game shows the seed at the end of the video! Play for yourself.

Having that last Joker selected for the entire game got my stress levels going crazy thinking he'd accidentally sell it and lose

That early game sequence was a thing of beauty. Takes reserved parking. Takes vagabond (reserved parking makes it harder to activate the card). Takes banner (not discarding makes it harder for him to actually get flushes. Hits credit card (literally the best card possible with vagabond). IGNORES CREDIT CARD AND GOES RIGHT TO BOSS. Stunning work of art. Masterpiece, one of his finest efforts yet, I'd give it a 4.5/5 on letterboxd.

Honestly after playing tons of hours of Balatro my favorite thing about it is that every run every playstyle is possible to get going and have work for AT LEAST the early game (obviously late late game maybe not once the full game releases) but the ability to basically force anything you want into a really strong run feels amazing compared to other games that just force you to play X strat(s) at the highest level

Knowing he could have 1 shot the final boss by moving his x2 joker to the far right, but instead made the effort to drag it out a smidge longer was insane.

no one mentioning that he did all this and not even on the Magic Deck that's built for this synergy. he really took the Skip-based deck and decided to play almost every round

I love the Balatro content, but it pained me to see him not use Brainstorm to its full potential. Like when he knew that he wouldn't be getting any use from Vagabond but didn't move his spade joker to the left, or at the end when Brainstorm was to the right of the spade joker so that the extra 50+ mult that it was providing wasn't being multiplied by the polychrome effect.

You know ... I was giving Egg the benefit of the doubt for misplays when he's streaming since he has to split his attention between chat and the game. But knowing this is an offline video just confirms to me our egg is actually fried

Can't wait until full release so I never have to be a type A chatter again

NL, not trying to be a Type A chatter, but when you click a joker, you select it and it shows the sell button. I doesn't unselect automatically, so you have to click the joker again to unselect. That way the sell button disappears. When trying to click select a tarot to use it, you almost clicked sell on brainstorm multiple times

It could have been optimized so much better. But you did play ok.

Two things I'd recommend: 1. de-select the joker (so it doesn't give you the option to sell, even by accident) 2. swap the copy cat joker with the polychrome joker. i.e instead of ADD mult, TIMES mult, ADD mult. do ADD mult, ADD mult, TIMES Mult. this will create an overall larger mult.

Hey NL, if you're playing Flush build, why not sort by suit instead of rank?

Imagine nearly throwing on the offchance that you get fortune teller, and then when you get it and double its abilities, you start selling your tarot cards 😅😅

Don't know if anyone's already commented this, but wild cards will actually trigger every suit specific effect simultaneously (they get buffed by every suit buffing joker, as if they were all 4 suits)
