Lemmings is a puzzle game that was originally developed for Amiga computers before being ported to numerous other computer systems and home consoles, one of them being the Sega Genesis. The objective of the game is to guide a large number of walking, mindless beings known as Lemmings away from danger and towards the exit. There are a limited number of tools that can be used to achieve this objective such as giving individual Lemmings the ability to climb, dig, or even build stairwells. Every level has a set number of Lemmings that have to reach the exit in order to complete it.
This run is the culmination of 8 years of collaborative effort between Gronkling ( tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/G... ), ccexplore, and paiy, who complete every level in the game as quickly as possible with the help of a number of glitches.

Lol I could never figure out all these levels as a kid, but I loved the game. I also just realised that the Lemmings come into the level at the same rhythm as the background music, that's a neat detail.

I feel like the ps1 version would be better to tas since there's a fast forward button.

Boss Soundtrack, Sunsoft before Square bought them. Im glad they merged with them creativity wise

Imo, this was Sunsoft's last good game (Minus the Hebereke games) before they farmed out everything to western developers and when Sunsoft USA did most of the other work, and it's a port of an Amiga game by DMA Designs (who would later become Rockstar Games).

My only complaint is that the TASers don't bother moving the camera over in some levels, so sometimes the lemmings reach the goal off screen without us being able to see it at all.

I think this might be on purpose to reduce lag. If the game doesn't have to render all the lemmings, then there's less lag and the level completes quicker. And quickness is the goal innit.

@@EarthboundBenjy Sure, but entertainment needs to be a goal too and the viewer being forced to watch a random part of the level at the start for 30 seconds while we wait for the lemmings to reach the goal is surely not worth the few frames it saves, if it saves any.

@@KCzz15 unfortunately it saves a really considerable amount of time, up to around 40 seconds on many levels. its what i consider the main problem with TASing this game, and ive considered making a "display" version without lag reduction

@@KCzz15 That would require the "sacrifices speed for entertainment" tag. In my opinion, though, watching the lemmings march to the goal is no more entertaining than watching a still screen with no lemmings. Regardless of what I'm watching, I just skip forward a few seconds; I'm more interested in watching the TAS completely disrespect the puzzles and the use of skills.
